Top Three Bottom of the Pit Restraunts

The only restaurant that I can truly say was the "bottom of the pit" for me was Chef Mickey. Long ADR wait, dirty restaurant, dirty buffet, dirty bathrooms, food was yuck, loud, spotty service. However, the characters were good for a quick photo! I left that meal hungry and feeling like I needed to shower..

I'm so worried about WCC now! On our 2006 we stayed at WL and ate there 3nights of six (believe it or not). I was big pregnant and with 2 other little ones who tired out quick, it was just easiest. We enjoyed it very much. Didn't eat there last trip, but DH has specifically requested this place for our upcoming Sept. trip. Tried talking him out of it even before this thread, oh well!

Coral Reef so so food but the absolute WORST service of any restaurant I have ever been to. Yak and Yeti was just terrible, and my last one is Bongo's i really liked the food but the servers were just so rude I will not go back.

I've only had two bad experiences, but there are qualifiers:

1) Captain Cook's Snack Company (Polynesian Report) - They had set up a temporary location during construction. Tables were hard to find, huge line for counter-service, food was ordinary. I understand the situation was temporary and the restaurant is back in a permanent location.

2) Chef Mickey's - The food was really quite good, I especially liked the potaoes. But even with a res, we had to wait 90 minutes. Extremely overpriced, considering that I have fussy eaters. I essentially paid $125 for my kids to have some hot dogs and ice cream. And the place was pure chaos. Your experience may differ.

And now, to respond to negative comments about the San Angel Inn:

- Are you nuts???

Great food, friendly service, live music and an unbeatable atmosphere!!
I'm sure they serve an occasional cold plate of food...tell a waiter and get warm food! Disney WANTS you to have a good experience and they WILL respond to your request.
And for the critics from San Antonio...I've been to San Antonio and it is all Americanized texmex junk that you can get in any other part of the country. San Angel Inn is NOT texmex, it is authentic Mexican food.

The absolute worst for us was Coral Reef. My food literally had ice chunks in it. So gross. Then our waiter was horrid. Never got refills, though we asked at least three times. We refuse to return. My brother who is going with us this year says it's his and his wife's favorite restaurant. I told them they'll have to go alone.

Number 2: Kona cafe. The food was good, but it took nearly 1 hour and a half to get it. We could smell them burning the first batch in the kitchen, sot hey had to make it twice. Bad thing was, we were only one out of the two table filled as our reservation was at 4pm. Out waitress didn't impress us either. Not rude, just not friendly in the least.

Number 3: Toy story Pizza Planet. Over crowded nightmare and the food was bad.

However, we loved San Angel Inn. The atmosphere was beautiful and the food was decent. The kids loved it.

 Nobody here is "crazy" for loving what they love and not loving what they don't love.

It's also a pretty safe bet that every restaurant listed on this thread as a "bottom pit" has a group of people who love it and think it's the best thing since sliced bread.

Hopefully this thread doesn't become a debate where people feel the need to defend their favorites and name call those that don't agree with them. Then those that don't like the restaurant feel the need to come and defend their opinion.

Everyone is sharing their opinions on this thread and our opinions are always 100% factually true. Well to us they are. :goodvibes

Our bottom 3 are:

H&V dinner buffet- cold food, dirty tables, floors, etc. and bad service

Coral Reef- food was cold and we had an issue with our server "doubling" her tip

SciFi- the food has been fine but I always get so cold in there.... even with a coat! If they would adjust the A/C I might go there more often

/
1) Narcoossees - last time I ate there was in 2007 but once was enough, over seasoned food, lacklustre service, followed by a night in my bathroom  I have been tempted by glowing reports since but when I think back, no way.

2) Teppan Edo - agree with a previous poster, pretty dull for me too

3) Chef Mickeys - horrible lukewarm food

No, I'm not nuts. I have had a VERY different experience from you at San Angel Inn.

Great food- Not so much. All of our tables plates were absolutely disgusting. Cold, inedible food. (And I am very familiar with autentic Mexican food).

Friendly service= Not so much. Over 60 minutes past our ADR time, and checking twice, we were finally told at the 80 minute mark that they made a mistake, and a table will be available shortly. We were then seated at a tiny table right at the kitchen doors. We remained ignored, all the other tables getting drinks, chips, appetizers. Well, let me put it this way- San Angel Inn was the worst restaurant experience I have ever had, anywhere. The waiter and the manager were very rude.

Unbeatable atmosphere= Not so much. I don't think being crammed into a tiny table facing a kitchen door swinging right at you every few seconds is "atmosphere".

There are too many other places to try in the World than for me to give SAI another go. It truly was that bad.

Chef Mickey's - food was terrible, character interaction was terrible, service was terrible. Our worst meal ever at Disney.

I hesitate to say this because I really don't want it to be true, but probably Tutto Italia. We weren't that impressed with the food and were treated like herded cattle.

If I had to add a third, I'd say Sci-Fi based mostly on the nasty waitress we had and not-so-great food, but we may end up going back with very low expectations just for the atmosphere. Then again, maybe not. :rotfl:

I think it is kind of unfair to lump counter and table service together, so here are my bottom three for each.

Counter Service:
1. ABC Commissary - I disagree with the post who called this sustenance as that would require being able to actually consume the food
2. Electric Umbrella
3. Yak and Yeti - the name says it all

Table Service:
All three of these had awful service and even worse food.
1. Coral Reef (Great atmosphere, terrible meal)
2. Rainforest Cafe (Both WDW locations)
3. Tony's (Gave them 2 chances - never again)

San Angel Inn has the WORST 'mexican' food I've ever encountered, and it's expensive! ick!
ABC Commisary....I have boys who LOVE fast food, and they HATE it there!
Pinnochios village house....bleh

(fwiw,we love Boma,Yak and Yeti, Cosmic RAys,Col. Harbor house)

Toy Story Pizza Planet...actually, we stay away from any situation where Disney and pizza intersect. And we come from mid-western Lutherans...it's not like we're East Coast Italians who know what good pizza is supposed to taste like. In light of that, you just have to know the pizza is lackluster.

ABC Commissary. This place wasn't too bad in years past. Sure, we joked that the Cuban Chicken dish was named in honor of a Cuban chicken because there sure wasn't any chicken in it. It was still tasty. But it was like hospital cafeteria food last time we were there (2008).

Food court at Port Orleans Riverside was disappointing, though not truly bad. Although I did have this incredibly happy moment where I served as a translator for a man from Ireland trying to place his omlette order to a cook from the American south. Theoretically, we all speak English, right? It was fun.

It's true about some of this being subjective because, for us:

The desserts are not good at Cosmic Rays but the food was fine.

We love Ohana & Boma (breakfast & dinner)

San Angel was okay - not amazing but not bad, and the setting was lovely.

I didn't have high expectations of the food at Sci Fi. I got the burger and the bun was dry...lots of pokey crumbs in my cleavage. I’m a mini-van mom and didn’t realize I had exposed cleavage until the crumbs so it was enlightening anyway. But my 8 year old daughter thought Sci Fi was the best restaurant at WDW…maybe even the best restaurant in the world. Honestly, I think it was the cars, the movie screen, and the glowing thingy in her beverage and not the food. In light of her wonderful experience, I would go back to Sci Fi in a heartbeat.

Mama Melrose: Food was bland and the waitress spilled a full glass of cold beer in my lap!
Trail's End: not worth the journey to get there!
Electric Umbrella: How does a restaurant mess up a cheese burger???

Ok the Chef Mickey's comments have me worried. That is going to be our first dinner for our trip. My BIL has horrible anxiety issues with crowed areas.

Our worst in the many years of Disney Dinning:
Mama Melrose's and Tony's

I know there are a lot of people who will disagree with me.. And that's completely fine, but the only, ONLY restaurant we will not go back to is..

Tangierine Cafe.

I know that this is a hot spot for most people looking for CS in Epcot. But we had an awful experience there and just won't go back. Too many other places to experience without needing a repeat of that. Completely bland and tasteless food, rather rude service.. Nope, not gonna go back unless it's just for dessert and coffee.

1. Askerhus: the food was bland (at least lunch). It was the only place (buffet even) where we left hungry. The desserts the great. Other than that, meh.

2. California Grill: our server was a bit of a snob. I didn't love my entree (the chicken had a weird taste). The appetizer and dessert were good, as was Wishes. But, for the money we prefer Narcoossees.

3. Cinderella's Royal Table: service was rushed, the food was okay, the bread was great, the Princesses were QUICK. The main draw is that you are in the castle. So, now we've eaten in the castle (checked that off).

For us it is...
1) TS Pizza Planet (used to like it but the pizza is bleh, so we are exploring other options now)
2) H & V just not good and cold food (the only food option that I liked there was the corn chowder soup)
3) ABC Commissary....used to go for the cinnamon rolls but since they did away with the breakfasts, we went to lunch there once, and that was more than enough...the food was so gross we all had to throw it away.

Hmmm....just noticed that all of the restaurants that I mentioned are in DHS, wish they would get better dining options there.

Hollywood and Vine - the whole place just felt dirty and the food was just mediocre.

Cantina de SAN Angel. The food was pretty icky, and they put cheese sauce all over DD's plate, including her bag of carrots and the tray.

For the third, I'm tied between Chef Mickeys and 1900. I know 1900 gets great reviews, but the day we were there, the stepsisters and Lady Tremaine were so boring and didn't interact with DD at all, the food was just okay, our waitress was pretty nonexistent, until she slapped DD's birthday cake in front of her before we had even finished eating our food (with no knife, plates and didn't even say Happy Birthday or Here You Go or anything) As for Chef Mickey's the food has just gotten progressively worse the past few years, however, we had great characters (but frazzled waitress)

1- Sci Fi... yuck.. our food was cold, and then it's dark and cold in there.. couldn't wait to get out of there.

2- Pizza Planet.. blah

3-yak & yeti cause I can't get past the name of the place. lol
