Top Three Bottom of the Pit Restraunts

I would never say anything is bottom of the pit. As lots of other posters have already said, people have different tastes, different sets of expectations, and different experiences.
We are going back to Whispering Canyon this year (special request from DBF), we had an amazing meal, amazing service and a lovely quiet spot right in front of a fireplace. Hopefully we will have another great experience. I know that this place was on this thread a lot.
We also love Sci-Fi for lunch!
We probably won't head back to Big River Grille anytime soon. The atmosphere was nice, the service was great and so was dessert but, we just didn't care for the entrees. We didn't hate them. We just thought they were on the tasteless side. But not bottom of the pit.
I also don't have Tony's Town Square on my "must do" or "never again" list. And I'd never tell someone NOT to go there. Another place that we didn't love or hate. Just your basic italian fare. And there's nothing wrong with that. Again, great atmosphere, great service, great dessert (tiramisu, yummy!). Basic food.

Everyone needs to form their own opinions, try what they think they might like and go from there. As long as I don't see anything on the Rose & Crown menu that I might order, I'm not going to go there. I need to see at least 2 things in the menu before I'll lock them into my ADR.

My top 3 worst places are:

1) Wolfgang Puck Cafe - The Cafe (The first 3 bites were really good, but after that....)

2) Flame Tree Barbecue

3) Sci Fi Dine-In Theater

There is nowhere I would never visit again, but here are three restaurants that consistently leave me disappointed:

1. ABC Commissary -- Chain fast food places are better than this wreck.
2. Nine Dragons -- I can find 100-times better Chinese food on any street corner for at least half the price.
3. Chef Mickey's -- Too noisy, too crowded. Not worth the hassle for sub-par food.

1. -- The Wave. None of the adults liked their food. It was dry, overly salty and just not well prepared. And they messed up my DD's pizza. Pizza. We had to send back pizza. It came back again disgusting. I asked the server if she would eat the pizza. She said no. Then I said that if I wouldn't want to eat it, why should my child. Luckily for us my DD was pretty worn out and tired and not that hungry. Now -- my DH and I did like hanging out at the bar at the Wave for a bit while my Mom watched our DD.

2. -- Chef Mickey's. Having done this one for both breakfast and dinner it was the most overpriced bland food buffet that I've encountered at WDW. The characters always seemed rushed, it was crazy loud and I feel no desire to go back.

3. -- Liberty Tree Tavern. One word -- Stouffers. Not for that money, thank you.

Ohana, Whispering Canyon, 50's Prime Time--all because of the "antics".

Food -wise just one -Liberty tree Tavern where we were once served nearly raw chicken.

I just have 1 that I have written off completley. Chef Mickey's. All 5 adults left hungry because the food was inedible. The kids ate, but the character interaction was very rushed. The whole scene was just noisy, dirty & unappealing for everyone in our group aged 4 - 60.

That said, there some places I wouldn't go back because I thought they were over-rated & I don't want to waste precious vacation time on. But nothing that actually warrents a Gross rating like Chef Mickey's.

Oh & I won't eat at any of the Landry's owned places like Rainforest, T-Rex or Yak & Yeti because every time we've tried Rainforest anywhere (not just WDW) it's awful & overpriced.

My three least favorite dining experience have been Tony's Town Square (bizarre service), Coral Reef (cold entree), and Biergarten (sitting with native Germans who kept bashing the food and service...was just uncomfortable).

But I'm sure I could go back to any of those and have a great experience at the right time.

Ohana, Whispering Canyon, 50's Prime Time--all because of the "antics".

Although many people enjoy it, I agree with your comment about the antics. At Tony's, the servers threw "pixie dust" confetti on our heads...I'm sure they thought it was making our meal more "magical." Instead, I was just upset that I had to pick the confetti Mickey heads out of my food. ;)

1. ABC Commissary - disgusting
2. 'Ohana - dry, tough meats, I know a lot of people love it but it's not my cup of tea
3. California Grill - overpriced and bland

Obviously, these are just my opinions. I have seen some of my favorites listed here - San Angel Inn, Yak & Yeti, Biergarten, Sci-Fi, Tony's was alos a pleasant surprise after reading many less than stellar reviews

3. CRT (dinner) - way overpriced, very limited menu, little character interaction, felt rushed

2. Grand Floridian Cafe - too stuffy for our taste - didn't feel comfortable & food was not very good

1. Sci-Fi Dine In - bad food & terrible service

Honorable mention may go to both Chef Mickey's & Crystal Palace based on our last trip. We loved them in '06 & '07 but not so much in '09. The food wasn't as good & the character interaction was awful. They barely even stopped long enough for a photo. Just disappointed.

The food was cold and some of it looked dried up. In all fairness I will admit it was late, and it really isn't our kind of food. We were supposed to go to the luau but it was cancelled because of weather and the Beirgarten was all we could get.

Thanks for your opinion :goodvibes Was just wondering.

San Angel while I love the atmosphere, Mexican Pavillion is my absolute FAVE and the food USE to be good it was aweful in 2008 and so was the 2 hr wait when we had ADR and the extremely rude waitress who knew we were on our honeymoon and actually got a real nasty attitude when after waiting 2 hrs my husband asked to sit at a open table he noticed, she said that a party of 2 couldnt be seated at a 4 person table, we counted 3 tables that had only 2 ppl at them but seated 4, a call to her manager that night put it right he personally came to our resort to apologize and gave us free park passes.

Crystal Palace-Beautifl restaurant, heard so much good reviews the food was cold, most of the buffet was not being replinished so it left little variety, this was dinner Sept 2009 around 7

Kona Cafe-yet another one I hear many great reviews, service was so slow, food was dry (Tuna) and seating cramped, they put 4 of us at this half round booth and we kept bumping elbows and stepping on each others feet and again service was soooo slow. Sept 2009

Crystal Palace - was so disgusting when we went there for dinner. Food was everywhere and the buffet was practically empty. However, I think I will be going back eventually.

Boma - UGH! The food was just nasty...everything tasted like Cinnamon!

Tony's - was WONDERFUL in Feb 09, but horrible in Dec 09.

One of my personal favorites tends to get a lot of bad reviews - The Coral Reef was AMAZING!!!!

We only have 2 that we will never go back to.

Ohana - I don't think it means "family"..it means "dry, smokey meat that all tastes the same".
Tony's - terrible food.

Ohana, Whispering Canyon, 50's Prime Time--all because of the "antics".

I'm a big fan of the "antics" and think that's what makes it part of the Disney fun.

I only have two--

Tony's --only reservation we could get and just blah food.

Rainforest Cafe -- wayyyy too expensive for what you get and for a place to bring kids.
