Top Secret Pixie Dust! A Surprise 13th Birthday PTR! NEW! TRIP REPORT LINK PAGE 220!

Tough question. We stayed at the Poly, and I loved it. I am itching to stay at BLT. I am hoping maybe we can make a winter get away and stay there.

So I guess the Contemporary, but I might change my answer to the Poly after I try out BLT. (If I had to name a downside to owning DVC (woe is me) I would say that I can't choose ANY resort. The point are just too high.)

Loving all the park plans. I am also a bit scared of the recent heat.

Remember the afternoon storms and be ready for them. If you have a web capable phone my-cast is good to track storms and can be helpful when judging how fast it will blow over etc.

EPCOT at night Future world can be kind of empty for summer. On Sunday you can probably hit any of the ones that close at 7 (time in innoventions) first followed by some of the attractions that stay open until 9.
Hit the E ticket rides at rope drop another as so many have said.

Mk Fanatsyland either the first hour or the last hour the park is open. NYE break, the last hour we had fantasyland to ourselves.

Just my 2 cents.

Poly... I love the Contemporary, and figure we will BLT it at somepoint... but I want to stay at the Poly someday. I am always just so relaxed walking around it!

As for melting... we will melt on Saturday at MK, although I am in no hurry to leave Vero. I thought of you when on Sunday night we ate Mickey Ice Cream bars. It was cooling down, so the girls could seemingly handle one (both lost theirs onto their wrappers). Luke helped me before mine could melt!

You really did get the master planners working for you today. You ended up with some great strategies and you didn't have to spend a cent on TGM.

If I got to pick any monorail resort it would be a toss up between the Poly and the Contemporary. My first pick used to be the Contemporary - why? - cause I think it sooooooo cool to walk to the MK. I actually can't think of anything better. Oh - MK view room, of course.

But I also really like the Poly. Its an Icon and I would love to be surrounded in all that tropical goodness and the beach views are fabulous.

OK - why are we torturing myself with this????

The Poly for sure!! I love everything about it!! The theming, restaurants, pool, beach, watching Wishes from the Poly beach, etc. :lovestruc

without kids...Grand Floridian, my dream resort

with kids...Poly

Okay...weren't you staying at Hilton Head? I just read the update about the change back to WDW! Congrats!

Oh and if I were to stay at a monorail resort it would probably be the Poly. I am mos def a tropical kind of guy....you know me and Typhoon Lagoon....

Just to let you know, While I am reading and catching up I am humming
"You've got a friend in me"

I mean it.
I seem to be unconsciously picking songs to narrate my life lately. :rotfl2:

On of my co-workers has a new hairdo - an old fashioned fro so when I approach her at the desk I start humming the theme song from " What's Happening". Apparently I think she looks like Shirley from that show.:confused3 I was thinking rerun but another co-worker who remembers the show set me straight- definately Shirley.:rotfl2:

Thank you so much to everyone for all their input and help! I feel much better after reading everyone's ideas and advice! Over the next few weeks, I will be posting our park plans (Lady Lallie helped me tremendously on park days and touring plans today over email, too, and we made a few changes).

I also amused myself today with dreaming of resorts. No, I am not changing because the price differences are staggering, but I am curious (because you know I can never decide myself):

If you had to stay at a monorail resort, which one would you choose and why?

I had so much fun helping you plan yesterday! I really need to become a Disney travel agent. :rolleyes1

Hmmmm...monorail resort.

I dream of staying at all of them one day but I think the first one I would pick would be the Polynesian. I think what puts me over the edge over picking Contemporary first is that it has Kona Cafe which I love and I've always wanted to try the Ohana breakfast. Contempary is a close second though, but of course I'd have to shell out the big bucks for a MK view. :rotfl2:

Perhaps it is because I am hopelessly, irrationally in love with the Beach Club but I am not harboring any monorail resort dreams. But if I were to choose, I think it would be the Poly give my aforementioned love of all things beachy. GF is gorgeous but seems a bit "stuffy" and Contemporary is a bit too, well, "contemporary" I think for my taste. Which one would you choose, Miss Jackie?

PS- LL- you SHOULD be a Disney travel agent!! ::yes::

Glad you made some progress with your park plans. I'm terrible with that stuff.

Hmmm.... I'd choose the GF. It's the only monorail resort I haven't tried. But I  the Poly.

The Grand Floridian is the only one I haven't stayed at, too. Of course, when I stayed at the Contemporary, it was 1987, and when I stayed at the Poly, it was 1995, but it still counts, right?

Are you pool people? The main pool looks like it doesn't have much seating, and I wonder how crowded it feels behind the Ceremonial House.

My goal is met. :cool1: I am all caught up with your report.

Yeay!!!

*sorry to hear about the changes in charles's pay and poor connor to burst into tears.

We've managed to come to terms with it -- it was the initial shock that got to us.

*Staying at Hilton Head Island will still be a fun Disney getaway. It will be fun to see that Resort in a TR. (maybe now you can save this for a weekend getaway for you and Charles?)

We would still like to go sometime -- when the prices are a bit lower, and it isn't the high season.

*It must have been so fun to see the gorillas hunt for jello eggs. I would love to see that.

It was a hoot!

*I've been meaning to ask, Did you guys have to do a lot of convincing to get MeMom to be in the picture?

:lmao: Nope, not at all. :goodvibes

*ive heard of the sillybandz thriugh my sister. She says she is not planning to get in on this craze. I'm not so sure I believe her.

It's amazing what grabs the kids' attention.

*I love Chelsea's new glasses. Much more stylish than the ones I'm wearing. Its about itme I get myself a new pair - and i wanna try contacts.

Thanks! I think they are very cute!

*Nice list of edible wishes. The Dole Whip is on the top of my list. (and tonga toast)

Tonga Toast is very good!

*Yes, that was my Dad that MeMom met up with at CBR. So if you go to TSM on sunday afternoon you just may see him there. (his name is ed) He only works there on weekends.

I will keep my eye out for him!

If I chose to stay at a Monorail Resort I would pick the Poly just because I love the smell of it.

Disney has the best smells!

The Polynesian Resort for me. I love the tropical, relaxed atmosphere, fireworks from the beach, sitting on a swing under a palm tree, the pretty flowers all over, the shopping, Kona and 'Ohana - all of it.

I had a feeling you would choose the Poly! ;)

We will be there four nights - only three full days. We got 5 day non-hoppers so we could use one either the first night, the last morning, and/or come back from the beach for a day during the next week. We are skipping AK again.

That's probably a wise move considering how hot it will be -- the AK always feels twenty degrees hotter to me than the other parks.

If I had to choose a monorail resort - it would be Poly. Here's why: I've stayed at BLT (eh), and Contemporary (garden wing where BLT is now). The best part of those was walking to MK. Poly has great restaurants, a beautiful beach, view of MK, cool pool, relaxing atmosphere...DOLE WHIPS! Definitely more my speed than GF. Makes me think we're on a whole other vacation plus Disney. We're going to try the Luau this trip. We've eaten breakfast at Ohana x2 and lunch at Kona.

Can't beat those Dole Whips being available at Captain Cook's! :thumbsup2

I haven't stayed at any of the monorail resorts, but staying at the Poly for the first time in August!!

I think my answer would depend on who i'm with...I guess the answer would be the GF but since i'm traveling in August with my brother (the GF is reserved for mom/daughter trip or boyfriend/husband trip lol) I'll go with the Poly!

I didn't realize you were staying at the Poly this August!!! How fun!!! I agree -- GF doesn't sound like the right resort to stay at with David.

I would stay at the Poly because that is my dream resort. I love the tropical theme.

We have been there a lot to eat, and I always enjoy that tropical feeling in the main lobby. They have good gift shops, too!

I love the look of the rooms at the BLT -- the colors are so pretty!

Loving all the park plans. I am also a bit scared of the recent heat.

Remember the afternoon storms and be ready for them. If you have a web capable phone my-cast is good to track storms and can be helpful when judging how fast it will blow over etc.

That's right -- we usually have afternoon storms all the time in June at Disney.

EPCOT at night Future world can be kind of empty for summer. On Sunday you can probably hit any of the ones that close at 7 (time in innoventions) first followed by some of the attractions that stay open until 9.

Just my 2 cents.

Thank you! Those are all great tips!

Poly... I love the Contemporary, and figure we will BLT it at somepoint... but I want to stay at the Poly someday. I am always just so relaxed walking around it!

Me too! That only thing that throws me is that the Ceremonial House is always so crowded when we are there for meals.

Oh goodness! What a shame about the girls' ice cream. :( Are you having a blast at Vero? I read about your mishap in the ocean over on MeMom's report! The turtle talks and such sound so neat! That's something I would love to do!

You really did get the master planners working for you today. You ended up with some great strategies and you didn't have to spend a cent on TGM.

I know! I think I did better than I would have with TGM because I didn't end up with a bunch of attractions I am not interested in doing!

If I got to pick any monorail resort it would be a toss up between the Poly and the Contemporary. My first pick used to be the Contemporary - why? - cause I think it sooooooo cool to walk to the MK. I actually can't think of anything better. Oh - MK view room, of course.

:rotfl: Because it's fun to dream of different resorts! ;)

The Poly for sure!! I love everything about it!! The theming, restaurants, pool, beach, watching Wishes from the Poly beach, etc. :lovestruc

I had a feeling that would be your pick. ;) Do you ever feel like it is really busy? What about the pools?

without kids...Grand Floridian, my dream resort

with kids...Poly

:thumbsup2 Yeah, I can't really see your boys wanting to stay in those frilly rooms. ;)

Okay...weren't you staying at Hilton Head? I just read the update about the change back to WDW! Congrats!

Hi, Jordan!!! :yay: Yes, it has been the trip of changes, that's for sure!!! Yes, we are back to WDW -- staying at CBR. The Poly definitely fits the tropical bill!

Poly would be fun to stay at -- those Dole Whips alone would seal the deal for me.

Yes, I could see you being happy at the Polynesian.

Hmmm, where would I stay? You know, that's really hard for me to decide. :lmao:

I like the tropical feel of the Poly with its Dole Whips and lush landscaping; I love the Victorian elegance of the Grand, and the idea of staying in a hotel where the monorail runs right through it is also very neat. Can't I pick all three?

I will help you anytime! I've actually looked into doing one online based Disney travel agents, someday when I have the extra money to shell out for the start up costs I think I will do it. I really love it.

Hmmm, I'll have to leave the park planning to all of the summer touring experts. You guys may get to go A LOT more often than me, but I am very spoiled in that I can say I have never experienced Disney in the heat or crowds! ;)

As for a monorail resort....... I'd go with the Poly. I am a tropical kind of girl. I love palm trees, hammocks, sandy beaches, tropical fauna, the whole thing! And our favorite Disney restaurant, without a doubt, is O'hana. We have decided that all future trips must begin and end with O'hana. Once just isn't enough. I would really like to try the Luau there too. The CR has never appealed to me very much. It just doesn't have a real theme IMO and I love themes. And I think the GF is gorgeous, but it's a little too fancy for me. I love to visit there for pictures and meals, but I would rather stay at the Poly.

Thank you! :goodvibes I think it would be a lot of fun to train as a Disney travel agent!

Lucky! I have done heat (the June trips) and the crowds (our Christmas trip in 2004), but I have never done both together so that freaks me out a lot!

The Poly seems to be the popular choice! All the reasons you stated are great reasons to stay there! We have done the breakfast at Ohana's but never the dinner -- for some reason, Charles says the atmosphere at Ohana's doesn't appeal to him. :confused3 He is so strange sometimes.

My choice of a monorail resort would have to be the Poly. I used to adore staying there as a kid, and I'm really a sucker for anything beachy. I had never given alot of thought to the GF before my trip in December, thinking it would be a bit too stuffy, but after visting there it's on my someday list. I was surprised how non-stuffy I actually found it. :)

I think I need to use Jen and Leslie to plan my trip! Depending on what the other members of our group decide I may have to plan some days out quite a bit more than I'd been planning on doing. I share your heat fears. And just realized...I think I need a line item in the budget for extra sunscreen!

Monorail resort.

I'd have to say Contemporary for me. I have no real desire to stay at the Poly, beautiful as it is, and while we'd love the GF, it's a bit sedate and the rooms too feminine for my personal taste. Contemporary is high on my list and definitely Eric's dream resort. I do see a BLT stay someday in the future.

Of course I'd be happy at any of them!

We're going to do the luau in July - so check out my TR and you can hear all about it!
