I am a DVC member but will only be in Orlando for one night in June before heading to Palm Coast. I called and they said the only way you can get into the lounge is by being a member and staying on property. Has anyone gone recently? Did they check to make sure you were staying on property or just check your DVC membership card? Will anyone be planning to be there on June 11th in the evening who could help get me and my 2 guests into the lounge if I am unable to do so?

Yes, they scan your magic band to make sure you're staying on property.

I believe you and the quests would require magic bands, along with a "host", so I don't think its possible. It would be very embarrassing to get there with guests and be turned away.

Are you all adults? If so, dont worry about it, you are definitely not missing anything ( unless you enjoy cocktails with toddlers) I have never been to a lounge so over run with young children. :scared: Have a drink at Mizners at GF and watch the FW from there.

All adults. I wonder if I could call Bay Lake and if they are not that busy at the lounge they could make an exception. We are eating at Narcooses, so if worse comes to worse we could stay there and watch

Rules are rules, since you are already eating dinner at one of the best places to watch the fireworks, I would stay there... If you don't ALL have magic bands you have no way to even ask a CM to get up to the lounge, as you obviously aren't staying on points. They will ask and read the bands.

We haven't seen any children up at TToTW the last three times we have been there.

that area was created for guests staying at bay lake towers. it is not available to guest not staying there. i have only seen children in the bar/lounge area once and not many at that time. the area to watch fireworks from is outside and not in the lounge anyway therefore there should not be an issue with children in the lounge. there are always children at wdw. after all it is disney

They do check magic bands

From DVC member site:

Top of the World Lounge Access

Top of the World Lounge is located at Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort. Disney Vacation Club Members staying at any Disney-owned-and-operated hotel at Walt Disney World Resort (whether they booked with vacation points or cash) may enjoy access to one of the vacation kingdom's most exclusive spaces: Top of the World Lounge atop Bay Lake Tower at Disney's Contemporary Resort through December 29, 2015 (blockout dates apply. Including but not limited to 12/30/14, 12/31/14, 7/3/15, and 7/4/15). Current operating hours are 6 p.m. to midnight.

This perk is available exclusively to Members and those in their traveling party who are staying on that Member's reservation. At least one Member in the traveling party must accompany the group and present his or her current Magic Band or Key to the World card with a Disney Vacation Club Membership notation in order to gain admission to the lounge and observation deck. If the Member's Magic Band or Key to the World card doesn't display a Membership notation, a Disney Vacation Club Membership Card is required in addition to the Key to the World card to verify Membership.

Note that Members traveling from other Resorts must use Walt Disney World Transportation, as parking is unavailable to anyone not staying at Bay Lake Tower or Disney's Contemporary Resort. Upon arrival, Members must walk to the Bay Lake Tower main lobby entrance on the ground floor and check in at the Top of the World Lounge desk in the lobby.

This special Top of the World Lounge access is available on a first-come, first-served basis until the lounge reaches capacity. As the lounge is particularly popular during the Magic Kingdom fireworks, arriving as early as possible will give Members the best chance of gaining admission.

Actually the lounge is now available to any DVC member staying on property except for a few black out dates.

Avail for all DVC as noted above even if paying cash at a Disney hotel

We have had times with there being a lot of kids in lounge until fireworks start or if it is cold or weather is not good for standing outside.

TOWL IMO is great for going early having a drink and an appetizer before it fills up with people for the fireworks. We have gone there when they open at 6. My one wish with the design of the place is that they had built the lounge elevated above the standing room outside. You will be sitting in the lounge and have a great view of the castle but when fireworks start people are standing along the windows outside blocking your view.

I would stay at Narcoosse's to watch.

Have a drink at Mizners at GF and watch the FW from there.

Did not realize Mizners has a view. Do they piped in the music or do you just watch it with a bourbon in your hand. The second one might be best!

The TOTWL empties out after the fireworks and only adults are left then. Like it says in post 9, only one member of the party has to being staying on Disney property. However I would think that person would also have to be the DVC member.

I don't think you read that correctly. Everyone, including the guests, must be staying in the same room as the member to be allowed access. At least that's the rule.

Nope, read the quote again. Everyone must be on the same reservation at Disney and at least one must be a DVC member.

We will be staying at the VGF in August with most of my Wife's family, 9 of us in total. Her other sister is staying at POR. We have reservations at Whispering Canyon at 5pm, and were planning to go to TOTWL after dinner to catch the fireworks. The sister that is staying at POR, will not be joining us. Her and husband have reservation at Victoria & Alberts, and we are taking her two kids ( 6 & 9) with us to Whispering Canyon. So there will be a total of 11 us. Will we have have any issues with bringing my niece and nephew with us? This will be the only chance we will be able to see the lounge on this trip, and already promised to watch the kids.

Try to get a reservation at the Cali Grill if you want that view.
