Top Chef Seven--May Contain Spoilers!

Padma was still packing some um, baby weight. She is a beautiful woman though.

I, for one am glad she's put on weight. And dang it all, it's in ALL the right places - why can't I gain weight that way? The season she filmed while she was getting divorced from Salman Rushdie she was just too thin - she was still beautiful, but I got the feeling that if you got her into a bikini you'd be able to count every single one of her bones.

She's absolutely ravishing at this weight and I hope she stays right about where she is. (As for my DH, I think he's going to spend more time drooling over Padma and Gail this season than drooling over the food!)

Argh!!!! I can't believe I missed it. My DVR must have had a conflict because it's going to record it tomorrow morning.

I can't wait for this season because Eric Ripert is one of the judges and I have a huge crush on him. We got to go to his NYC restaurant in Feb. Le Bernadin....OMG that food was unbelieveable and the dinner was so expensive but worth it. (if you thought that V&A was expensive.....:rotfl2:)

Eric Ripert came into the dining room and started talking to some of the tables. I started to hyperventillate like a fool, I started to panic and babble. My DBF just sat there trying not to laugh at me, I was acting like a 12 year old mooning over a Jonas Brother. I was in a total panic because if he came to our table I didn't know what to say....ummmm the food.....good? That was all I had or maybe....me like....ugh! Luckily he didn't come to our table but I did get close enough to see his BLUE eyes. Yikes, I was even more smitten. He was taller than I expected and ohhh well, I am going to stop now so I don't embarass myself further.

So I am going to probably be doing the same lame behavior once a week.

Oh, Robin...I missed that humor when I bailed on the AI thread this year. Good Lord, couldn't get into that show this year one bit. I ended up watching the whole darn thing (with the exception of the final week -- went three months, but bailed on the finale because I didn't care), but I couldn't stand anyone. When they got rid of my favorite -- Katelyn -- when they were choosing the Top 12, I decided that I couldn't care less.

aMEN! AI SUPER sucked this year! Even I bailed towards the end. Couldn't care less...:rotfl:

Much more interested in Top Chef this year!:goodvibes

You and me BOTH! I've had it BAD for Eric Ripert for YEARS! :faint:  :worship:

Thought Padma looked AWESOME with her "baby weight"... wow!

I'm not picking on the quoted poster, it's just the most convenient post.

We can't always help how we look. Googly eyes is, well, just the way someone is born. To judge someone's cooking ability on the appearance of their eyes is truly unfair.

This thread isn't the only place I've seen criticisms of John's hair. Yes, I understand it's unappealing. But it IS tied back with the bandanna, and it appears to also be tied back in some type of ponytail in the back? There's a STRONG likellihood none of his hair escapes into the food. There's an equally strong likelihood it's clean. Remember, as an Executive Chef, if he's currently employed, he needs to be clean. With the screening process Top Chef uses, they wouldn't have taken a Chef with personal hygiene issues.

Judge the Chefs on their cooking abilities and style, not on their looks or personal style, okay? Now, based on THAT criteria - yeah, obviously, John still deserved to go :teeth:

:worship: :worship: :worship:
Agree completely!!!!!

I like Kenny A LOT. I can't stand the drama either, so that Tracy chick NEEDS to go. Ugh. I was really hoping that the guy from Ohio would have done better last night because her comment that if he's from Ohio then he probably can't cook made me want to throw something at the TV. I hope he does better and that she gets sent home before he does.

And... ummm... (whispering)... I can't stand Padma :scared1:

Running away now....!!!

I finally got to see it.

Eric....that hottie didn't disappoint.

Angelo is just too arrogant for me to be a fan.

Poor John....sucks to be the first to go home. I knew he was in trouble when I heard him say something like...never used this before buy the NYT gave it a good review. I thought uh oh.

Everyone's all about Padma (and don't get me wrong, she's certainly plenty attractive), but I'm more of a Gail guy, I guess, so I wasn't looking at the belly either. The fact that she's hosting Top Chef Desserts (which was mentioned last night) now gives me a reason to watch that...

There's going to be a Top Chef Desserts?! I'd love to see that, dessert is my favorite meal of the day :cool1:

Where is the 'Tongue and Cheek' smiley when you need it?:thumbsup2

Until then, you might be interested in the new Food Network show, "Cupcake Wars". Not as exciting, but new episodes air Sundays at 10 PM Eastern - and no, I'm not translating that into any other time zone, just on principal! :teeth:!

Rant over. Rant caused by someone who, on being told something would happen at 10 AM Central time, asked "what would that be in Eastern time"?

LOL--as I'm in the Eastern time zone, I'm fine with that! I can't believe someone needed you to do the math for the time change :sad2:

It's got to be that same person that always asks when the 3 o'clock parade is going to be in the MK?

You know, you always hear, "there are no stupid questions". I can no longer say that with a straight face.

Even this is, well, not stupid, per se. Sure, the parade starts at 3 PM - but depending where the Guest is, it may not "be", as in pass by their line of vision, until ten or twenty minutes later. My intent isn't even to offend the person who asked the question; it just scares me that certain basic things seem to no longer be taught - learned? - in school.

Uh-oh... I hope I'm just missing something cuz otherwise I feel really dumb. LOL. We have vendors at work who are in different time zones and I can NEVER remember what the difference is... they'll schedule a meeting at 10am Pacific Time or something like that and I'm always looking it up because otherwise I'll miss the meeting!!

Cupcake Wars is interesting, but I hate this fascination with putting non-dessert foods into desserts... like salmon  They do it on Chopped, too and it drives me crazy. I can handle a little bit of craziness, but salmon in a cupcake? Really?

I found though I love Eric Ripert as a judge, none of the contestants have jumped out to wow me yet. Last year I knew that Kevin, The voltaggios and jen were going to be strong contenders. This season started off with me forgetting who's who which is sad.

Im sad John had to go, but the hair put me off ... since it wasn't tied back as much as id like (but im OCD! not meanness meant!)

Anyone else do the Bravo TV fantasy game?

:thumbsup2. The Internet is a great resource; honestly, so is the phone book :teeth:. It's what I used to use for a LOT of basic information before somebody invented this Weird Wide Web thing ;) we all use now. Yes, I realize it's oh-so-simple to type out a quick question - but heck, if you live on the east coast and simply watch television, central-to-eastern time conversion is easy. Even if you don't have a tv, Googling "time zones" brings up the answer in a snap!

I'm sorry, I hope I didn't offend :flower3: Just that on TV here, they always announce the show coming up next and the times it's showing on all zones. For example, 10pm Eastern, 9pm Central 7pm Pacific.

And salmon in a cupcake :scared1: Salmon-colored frosting would be pretty, but I couldn't imaging biting into a cupcake and getting fish instead LOL

It seemed VERY obvious that Kenny, Angelo and Tim are going to be the contenders. It's almost as if it was planned.

Okay, jumping in here because I just saw this thread after creating my own. I'm all about Arnold!!! Mainly, because he's my friend, but also because he owns three great restaurants, is sometimes a drag queen, and shows that Nashville isn't just cowboy hats and country music! LOVE HIM!!!
