Top Chef - Season Two

In his blog, Tom Colicchio said he'd like to get rid of all of them too, and let Marcel win by default. But the producers wouldn't let him!
Now, THAT would be poetic justice for a bunch of bratty chefs, wouldn't it?!?

Go, Chef Tom!

I, too, was shocked and disappointed in Cliff because I did like his culinary style, second only to Sam in my book, but his behavior was reprehensible. That was actually difficult to watch on Wed. night. And, as you mentioned, no one even tried to stop him! This is a seriously flawed bunch of individuals. It's hard to root for any of them.

Same here. I just watched this episode and had to FF through that whole scene. I thought maybe Ilian would be the one to do that, but I didn't expect it from Cliff.

I am so disappointed in the current season. I adore the premise of the show but cannot stand most of the contestants.

Mikey now seems like the most mature person on the show! Too bad he's gone.

Harold was the consummate winner!

I guess it's like watching a train wreck, you can't look away -- tonight's episode should be interesting.

I don't think Bravo realized how much negative reaction last week's episode would cause, at least on the blogs and web sites that cover the show. There has been a lot of discussion about the fact that Bravo's editing implied that Marcel was attacked after Elia and Ilan shaved their heads, but in a few screen shots of Marcel walking away after Cliff released him, Elia is seen laughing on the floor with a full head of hair. When Bravo re-aied the episode, it deleted the images of Elia.

What!!!???????????!!!!!!

I can't believe that the judges sent Sam home!!!

I cannot stand Marcel.....YUCK!

I know. I really wanted to see Sam and Elia in the finals. Oh well.

Sam was my favorite, I thought he deserved to stay. I'm rooting for Marcel now because I can't stand Ilan.

I am listening to the live feed on Bravotv.com. I still can't believe that Sam is going home over the other ones. While the last 3 were a toss up, I thought Sam was a no-brainer. He had been the most consistant over the whole season.

:confused3 I cannot believe they sent Sam home!!!! :confused3 :confused3

And put Marcel thru!!??!!??!!???

It just reinforces the name of the show--Top Chef, not Best Loved Reality Cooking Show Contestant. And the theory even holds up when looking back at season one--Harold, yes, was a consummate gentleman, but he was, first, foremost, a stellar chef. Like a previous poster stated, I, too, am rooting for Marcel (though I would've been happy had either Elia or Sam been able to go on to the final; they were--no, are--tremendous cooks), chiefly because I loathe Ilan as much (or more) as most other people hate Marcel. Having said that, if Ilan does win, I'm completely confident it will be because he simply outcooked Marcel (and, as much as I detest his personality, I will admit that Ilan really can cook).

I guess Sam went home because they said he basically didn't cook anything, that he took the easy way out. I was voting for Marcel, guess I am the only one, but I want him to win.

Before what happened last week I really thought Cliff and elia would be the final too. I thought overall they were the best chefs. I see where the judges decision came from tonight. Elia's and Sam's dishes seemed very weak compared to Marcel or Ilian. I found Elia annoying tonight. She accuses Marcel of cheating, but can't give any examples. OK so what was that all about. Was she really that PO'ed over the steamer? I hope Marcel wipes the floor with Ilian. As one of the judges said, Ilian sticks with what he knows (spanish food). What gets me is he kept putting otherrs down for doing what they know. Didn't he keep putting down Marcel's foams and Mike being a line cook? Now I really wish Mike had made it further. I really liked him.

I was watching the live feed and they reported that Marcel recently had been hit over the head with a bottle by two angry female fans in Las Vegas. They approached him and asked, "Are you Marcel from Top Chef?" and when he said yes, they hit him. He had blood all over him and had to get stitches. Elia had apparently seen him earlier that night, then again later covered in blood (smells like a "hit" :scratchin ). Anyway, I guess he's doing ok.

Elia's exit interview was all whining about Marcel and how she was very happy with her food. Funny, at the beginning, they seemed to be friendly, and said they'd even worked together at one time. I thought the interview sounded like sour grapes, and I'm glad she's gone.

DH's theory is that perhaps Marcel is the winner and that's why people are mad? Maybe out in Las Vegas word got out?

I don't like Ilan, and Marcel doesn't bother me - so I hope Marcel is the winner!

This has been a disappointing season. There has been unnecessary drama. The attempt to accuse Marcel of cheating was going over the top. He may be a jerk but he was not cheating.

I don't like Marcel - he is too old to completely lack self-awareness. All season he has come off as a jerk. Ilan has come off as an even worse jerk, a bully. Based on the food, last night and all season, I really thought Sam was going to be one of the finalists. I am rooting for both Marcel and Ilan to fail miserably next week and for the judges to say neither one is a top chef, but they can come back and compete again in Season 3. Elia has been so inconsistent all season, and emotionally she is not stable, so I would have been shocked had she made final 2.

I watched last night's show.

I was sad to see Sam go, but I'm glad that he won the fan favorite contest.:thumbsup2 I thought that he and Marcel would be the two going to the final competition.

Elia and Ilan behaved like those annoying tattlers from elementary school, very sad attempt on their part. I think it spoke volumes about their character. What did they think making those comments, without actual proof, was going to do for them? Ilan is a snake in the grass.

I hope Marcel wins. He doesn't bother me. Marcel appears to be very confident about his ability as a chef. I think that threatened some of them (Cliff, Elia and Ilan).

In the live commentary, Chef Tom said [about Elia's complaints about Marcel moving her pot] "that that's what you do in a kitchen if you see someone's pot taking up space without the burner on". They also had a discussion about how in a real kitchen, it's a little different than this, because in a real kitchen there's just one leader; here, there's been all leaders (allegedly).
