Top Chef All Stars starts 12/1/10! No ADVANCE Spoilers!

I hate Anthony Bourdain. I have always hated Anthony Bourdain. He is a plain SOB. There was nothing in this episode that has changed my mind about him.

::yes:: I do hope Eric Ripert will be back soon. He could read the phone book and I'd still melt :lovestruc

This is a NO Spoilers thread? So we can't discuss who wins? :confused3
Oh, heck - spoilers are before a show airs! Ideally there have been enough of these threads by now that posters who haven't seen an aired episode and don't want to know the results... won't open the thread until they've seen the show!

Oh. I always think of spoilers as meaning we can't discuss the results until the West Coast has seen the show. Probably because they are usually the ones that come in and complain when we East Coasters are discussing the show while its happening or right afterwards. :headache: Then they say, why doesn't the title say there are spoilers in the thread. :sad2: I guess I've always put in "Spoilers" in the titles to cover my butt, so they know, regardless of when they walk in.

Anyway, I'm glad Fabio stuck up for himself. Bourdain was just obnoxious & rude. People like to think of him as being blunt and upfront. No, he likes to put some people down. The way he ragged on the food, he seemed to have something against Fabio, not just the food.

Tom is upfront without cutting someone's balls off. He says the truth in a way that people get.

I thought the person going home was going to end up going home in the first couple of episodes. That person didn't have the stomach for competition if she was too delicate to hear people talking about each others' dishes. What's up with that? :confused3

That's funny, while I agree with your comments in the next quote, I've always liked Tony Bourdain because he is so obnoxious. You are right, though, there is a point where being obnoxious and cocky becomes rude and he DID cross that line last night.

I agree with you on this, too. So, you don't want to hear what people have to say about you when you are in a competition with them?!? You have to run and hide?!? Buh-bye. Though, I really thought it would be Stephen's swan song last night.

I certainly wouldn't have minded if Stephen was the first to go. He seems more of a legend in his own mind than in reality. :p

ITA. I didn't see first season - got sucked in sometime mid-season #2. Stephen is a tool!

I think Richard would have won the challenge if he hadn't gone over the time limit

I agree about Fabio sticking up for himself. Very similar situation to the way Bruno trashed Michael Bolton on DWTS. Be constructive, not mean. I'm willing to bet I wouldn't like a lot of the food Anthony makes!

I personally think the whole video thing was cruel...

I think Richard would have won the challenge if he hadn't gone over the time limit

I'm glad they disqualified him for that. And to be honest, if it happens again I think they should send him home.

Doesn't one of the contestants work for him? That might be really awkward (assuming that I'm correct...)

I too thought Stephen was going to go....I don't think I watched the season with the girl that did go. Didn't really like her much form what I saw of her last night.

I'm so glad that Fabio stuck up for himself too.

Some of the previews makes it look like this season will be pretty good. (although they of course want to make it look that way)

As I watched last night's episode with Fabio in the bottom three, I realized how hard this season will be for me. There are very few chefs I simply don't like and it will be hard to see most of them go.

I knew from the editing it wasn't going to be Stephen. PLUS, it would really suck for him if he went home for items that were really not his TWICE. I was really afraid it was going to be Fabio :cloud9:. If it was, that might have been it for me. As much as I adore Carla & Tiffany and can't wait to see what trouble Spike and Marcel will get into ... it would be been heartbreaking to lose Fabio so soon. I'm glad it was Elia. I didn't like her in season 2 either.

I'm also rooting for Angelo, Fabio and Tiffany. I've only watched a few seasons, so most of them are new to me. I was hoping Stefan would be back from Carla's season. Love Carla's personality, but her bug eyes get to me.

I agree that he should have been DQed for going over time, but I don't think it was deliberate. Did you hear those buzzers in that noisy kitchen? I can TOTALLY see how they could be missed if someone is in "the zone". I've done it when I'm in that "creative zone". He was clearly surprised by it. I doubt he'll miss it a second time.

OK, i watched, and I had to be reminded about Antonia. I'd forgotten all about her. Now I remember and I hope she doesn't last. Didn't like her in her first season, not really liking her yet this time. We'll see.

I agree with those who were glad Fabio stuck up for himself. I never liked Anthony Bourdain, and never ever consider his criticism to be helpful. I don't think a chef can improve their skills from is criticism. I think the reason he wasn't eliminated was because he did say that if you're going to criticize me be constructive about it, don't call names.

Tom and Padma can be scathing when its called for, but there is usually some specific insight to it.

But I don't know what he was thinking with the paper though. That was just odd.

Now can somebody please explain to me about Stephan? I think I'm missing some info on him since I didn't watch his season. I got the impression that he no longer(possibly never) cooked professionally:confused3

Yes, Jennifer Carroll did work under Eric Ripert before she went on her Top Chef season. Not sure if things changed at all since then. I know she was working at a restaurant at the Ritz Carlton in Philadelphia for a while. Not sure if it's his restaurant or if she's still there.

I agree about Eric Ripert...:lovestruc

I also have a crush on Chef Scott Conant, he made an appearance on the TC final episode in Hawaii and has since been on Food Network's Chopped and 24 Hour Restaurant Battle. :cloud9:

I thought all the TC All Star chefs looked great!! (appearance wise)

I didn't think they would get rid of Fabio so early in the show. He's too much of a draw.

Not saying the show is rigged. Just think that if someone else has/had a dish that is/was equally as bad as his, they wouldn't cut him.

From what I vaguely remember, he always seemed to know more about things, than have actual experience doingthings. Like he is an excellent wine sommelier, because he likes to retain info and act like he knows it all, but get him into the kitchen to peel a carrot and he wouldn't know the first thing on how to actually do it. :p

Yes, I didn't even recognize redheaded Tiffani. I had wondered if she had work done, or Botox? :scratchin But it could just be without her usual scowl, having bangs and a lot of sleep before the show makes a big difference. :yay:
