Top Chef All Stars starts 12/1/10! No ADVANCE Spoilers!

Just finished watching and now I wanna make a grilled cheese with an iron, that looked really good.

I missed Fabio this episode. I thought that Tiffany should have been sent home, wonder if her little speech at the end saved her?

I remember back in college that people used to make grilled cheese with an iron. It was in the dark ages before electronic cooking equipment had been invented, other than a hot pot, and dorms allowed more stuff to be brought in.

I think Dale won partially because he had the most creative use of Target equipment. I'm surprised none of them ran over to the camping department and had gotten the camping setups which uses sterno as their heat source, or the butane gas burners. It's closer to their normal cooking equipment when they have to do the catering challenges, than all those electric burners.

I missed Fabio last night, too. :(

Anyone else catch Ming Tsai's little jab at himself? His little "Maybe he wanted to be an . . . Iron Chef"? :rotfl: For those who don't know, Ming was eliminated in the final 4 of "Next Iron Chef" competition this season. I think that's why Bourdain cracke up.

I wonder, though, when the two shows were taped? I'm assuming this episode was after "Next Iron Chef."

Dale's dish might have been worse, but regardless of what they claim, it's not all about a single dish. We've all seen them send home the worst chef, rather than the chef who made the worst dish on that day.

The fact is that overall, Dale is a much better chef than Fabio. Fabio puts out some good food, but he's very inconsistent and is on the bottom just as often as he's on the top. The only reason Fabio lasted as long as he did, in this season and his original season, is his personality. He's a lot of fun to have on the show, he seems like a truly nice guy, and he keeps everyone laughing and entertained. But as far as his talents as a chef, he can't compete with the top half of the contestants.

I was sorry to see him go too, but it was the right decision. I think we all want to see the best chefs in the finale and Fabio isn't one of them.

I agree. I loved Fabio, but he was never (in his original season or this season) of the same caliber of a lot of the other chefs (granted, much better than some of them -- but not at the top, IMO). Beside the fact that the cheese sauce was curdled (yuck!), who wants a burger with the consistency of meatloaf (double yuck!)? I think Dale did a bad job that episode, too, though, and I wouldn't have been surprised if it would have been him instead of Fabio.

Speaking of Dale . . . so, he won the quickfire and regular challenge last night. Is anyone keeping score because he sure has won a lot this season. I thought Antonia was going to win both of those challenges last night.

Although I didn't like Angelo during his season, I've liked him just fine this season and I'm frankly shocked that they would send him home over Tiffany.

I think it will be Richard, Dale or Antonia to take the whole thing. I love Carla, but I just don't think she can beat out the others.

That was so funny!!! Who knew Ming could be snarky. ;)

There is a scorecard on Bravo's website: bravotv.com/top-chef/season-8/cheftestant-scorecard

Of the remaining chef-testants:
Quick-fire winners - Richard and Mike have each won ONE while Dale has won FOUR :scared1:
Elimination challenge winners - Dale & Carla both have won 3; Richard & Antonia both have won 1

Hmmmmm.....

That's interesting. We seem to be giving Richard more credit than he has actually been winning.

Angelo has only won two elimination challenges.

This looks like Dale's season for the winning. Even when he doesn't win he is usually in the top.

I was so glad it wasn't Carla and just as sad it was Angelo.

Well I'm down to only a #1 & #2 for the top :sad2:

I'd prefer to see Antonio go before any of the others. She needs taken down a peg or two in my opinion. I hate the nasty nice to your face - nasty behind your back kind of people

I'd be happy with either Carla or Blaize winning :goodvibes

I want Carla to win. I do like Antonia also. I like Dale better this season than I did on his season though.

I was kind of glad to see Angelo go. I did not care for him during his season or this season. I am on team Carla though. I hope she wins.

I'm all about Carla really I think she is a good enough chef to win, I know people keep saying she can't do it. But aside from Dale she's winning more than the others... so clearly she is a good chef and CAN do it.

Carla and Richard for the win!!!!!!!!!!!

Did anyone else get the vibe that Mike and Angelo had a romantic relationship? While watching the Target show, I got that vibe.

I thought they were bro-mates, the way Richard & Fabio were.

snipped....

:hippie: I really think they do consider just that dish- I've followed Anthony Bourdain's career from back when he wrote Kitchen Confidential (2000), and up to present day. While I've never heard him speak personally, I have watched taped presentations of his book talks, and in his new book he specifically talks about how they only consider the dish that day. Considering the source, I tend to believe him, and the judges blogs back them up.

:cutie:

I don't know, I didn't see Fabio and Richard calling each other Sweetie and other endearments. Not that there is anything wrong with that!!! I just got that vibe from Mike and Angelo.

NNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Not my Angelo!!!! What the heck??? Tiffany is just wasting space in the kitchen. Angelo is a true talent. I'm so bummed out.

Ugh...here's hoping for either Blaise or Carla.

Tiffany seems like a nice person, but she's way out of her depth. OTOH, I wasn't a big Angelo fan. I figured Carla was safe, because they made such a big deal about her getting into the presentation. And what was up with that--they were supposed to hav ethe guy help them, they barely showed him, and presentation didn't seem to have anything to do with the challenge or judging.

I like Antonia. I think she's very genuine. I'd like to see her in the finals, with Carla and maybe Richard. My hesitation on Richard is that he's always going for the liquid nitrogen--he's becoming like Marcel and his foams. And he's a better chef than that. He didn't even make a cookie this week!

Mike can go any time.

I've never been a huge Dale fan, but he does seem to be knocking it out of the park this season.

I have no words. I guess I'm pulling for Richard, but the last two episodes, his comments have annoyed me.

I guess I the one person alive who is not a Carla fan.

Meh. She's not my favorite. I really liked her early on, but lately I find her to be annoying. She's so... hyper.
