Top Chef All Stars starts 12/1/10! No ADVANCE Spoilers!

I was surprised at the end, where it said the judges and producers help make the decisions and also that Bravo is in the mix. I have the exact wording if anyone wants it.
So, it really is all about who makes for good TV.

Yes, please post it. I'd like to read what they said.

Does anyone have the quote of what Fabio said at the end? Something about being the shadow in your own sunshine?

I found this by googling:
"Winning and elimination decisions were made by the judges in consultation with producers. Some elimination decisions were discussed with Bravo."

I've read it before at the end of the show and always thought it was strange. On The Next Food Network Star it makes sense. Top Chef, not so much.

My FB status last night was: Dear Carla, I love you. Love, Kylie.
She just EXUDES happiness! I was so, so happy for her! Carla for the win!
:sad2: About Fabio, though. Definitely thought Dale should have gone home instead. I'm pulling for Carla and Blais!

I love Carla. She is such a sweetheart - a lovely human being. I would like to see a Carla/Richard finale. I can live with either one of them winning. I was sorry to see Fabio go. I'm not a fan of Dale and there is something about Angelo that bothers me. I can't really put my finger on it. He just rubs me the wrong way. I do think that Angelo wants this very badly. I'm indifferent on Antonia and Mike Isabella. They can stay or go, I don't really care, as long as neither one of them wins.

I had just deleted the recording when I read this. I think it was, "If you want something, guys, you should go for it. You are the shadow standing in your own sunshine."

so who is your #3? I am torn between Antonia and Angelo. I would like to see Angelo make it to the final 3 because he tried SO HARD in his season but was SO SICK. He's snotty, but I still like him. Antonia has also been growing on me. I did not like her in her season but I am starting to like her now. Right now Angelo still has the edge. Dale is on my "crap list" and I just don't have any feeling good feelings about Tiffany or Michael.

A far #3 but.... Angelo

Antonio is actually on my hope to go home next list. Normally I really like to see women exceed in a male dominated field but in this case.... :headache: Was hoping the beef tongue would be her downfall....

Disappointed that Fabio's gone instead of Dale, since, while his cheese sauce for the burger was 'different', it didn't seem bad or offensive.

I watched it back... Tom said the cheese sauce was "gross". Fabio said that it curdled when it got to the table. First time I've heard Tom be quite that explicit on how awful something was so I figured he'd be a gonner.

Yeah..what she said.
I find that very strange.

Can you post the judges blog sites? Thanks.

Waaaaah, I'm gonna MISS my Fabio!!!

I looooved him!! :sad2:

I love Carla, too, and would LOVE to taste her chicken pot pie. She is such a sweetie.

I would've loved to see Dale or Tiff leave. And what was that scene about Dale loving on my Angelo??? Creeeepy! I'm sure his girlfried just LOVED that! :rotfl2:

I just watched Carla's winning recipe prepared - that is my kind of food :goodvibes well with gluten free flour and dairy free butter :rotfl:

I knew Carla had it in the bag...and I am SO sad about Fabio. LOVE him.

What the heck is dairy free butter? Isn't that just margarine under a fancy name and charging more? :confused3

I wish.... food allergies and intolerances are no fun :sad2:

Margarine often has casein which is a protein found in milk. Earth Balances has a very good product the works well in cooking.

I'm very excited to see a recipe that can be easily modified and I can't wait to give it a try :thumbsup2

Next week's challenge at Target looks interesting.... Hope Carla pulls it together :wizard:

This is pretty standard for all reality shows. I've always been suspect of American Idol, and, one season, someone posted the official rules that you sign off on when you participate. Buried in those rules was a line that said something to the effect that, "decisions to move forward in the competition ultimately fall to the judges, producers, and FOX television." So, basically, they can move people forward for drama, and ignore the public votes.

I, too, thought Dale would go; even I, a lousy cook, know better than to serve too much salt! And he "forgot" that his pretzel bread had rock salt on it???? Please.

I was hoping that they would cut Fabio some slack since they don't have hamburgers in Italy! (Or at least not often. They do have McDonald's though - and they serve fried shrimp there!)

Dale's dish might have been worse, but regardless of what they claim, it's not all about a single dish. We've all seen them send home the worst chef, rather than the chef who made the worst dish on that day.

The fact is that overall, Dale is a much better chef than Fabio. Fabio puts out some good food, but he's very inconsistent and is on the bottom just as often as he's on the top. The only reason Fabio lasted as long as he did, in this season and his original season, is his personality. He's a lot of fun to have on the show, he seems like a truly nice guy, and he keeps everyone laughing and entertained. But as far as his talents as a chef, he can't compete with the top half of the contestants.

I was sorry to see him go too, but it was the right decision. I think we all want to see the best chefs in the finale and Fabio isn't one of them.
