Top 5 Places you SHOULDNT eat

Got the idea from another thread......list the top 5 places in Disney you shouldnt eat and why.......IF YOU DARE!

Here are mine

1. Sci-Fi Dine in: No restaraunt has worked my gag-reflex as much as this one did.
2. Mama Melrose: Now, I was only there once, but had the worst overall dining experience in all my years of going to Disney. I can elaborate if necessary.
3. CRT Dinner: Way overpriced and limited menu for the $$$.
4. Brown Derby: Food wasn't bad, but it didnt knock my socks off like the prices say it should have.
5. Rainforest Cafe in DTD: Loud, loud, loud, and basic food for the $$$.

Have fun with this.

In no particular order

Sci-Fi Dine Inn
Mama Melrosse
Rainforest Cafe in DTD or in Animal Kingdom
Le Cellier -- We'd eat there again with a crowd if someone insisted, but we've eaten there 3 times since 2000 and haven't been mightily impressed with anything other than the mussels appetizer, the dark chocolate cake, and the dark beer
Tony's in MK

EG

The only time we was disappointed was when we ate at thr Rainforest Cafe. We felt as if it was your typical chain like a Chile's or an Olive Garden. It was nice to see, but not worth the $.

The only bad meal on our last trip was Raglan Road. Cold, soggy fish and chips - yuck! Plus, it was really, really, really noisy (they had a live band). Couldn't hear each other talk at all.

I also haven't found a restaurant at MGM Studios that I really like.

I had the same thought only different restaurant:
1. San Angel Inn
2. San Angel Inn
3. San Angel Inn
4. San Angel Inn
5. San Angel Inn

I totally agreement with you-- no more San Angel Inn for us-- it was too dark and we were sure what we were eatigin:confused3

Hee Hee, DW and I always make a point of eating at San Angel Inn and were dissapointed to have missed it this past trip.:lmao:

That is so funny! It is also classic of these types of posts. DW & I love Kona for every meal, and it has gotten flamed a bit here. I also love Boma - favorite buffet for me - and it has taken some shots from people. To each their own for sure. I think we can all agree that the Frozen Drinks from the Mexican CS, the ones from France CS, and the pints in Germany and the UK are enjoyed by all!! :drinking1

For the person who asked, CRT = Cinderella's Royal Table (I'm assuming)

A shame huh??

Rose and Crown. AWFUL And servers were beyond rude. The last time we went we were seated outside and it was was hot we requested in but alas nothing. then outside we were there for 2 hours!! 2 hours with 4 children!!!!:scared1: ugh and my fish and chips were soggy. all in all a bad bad meal.

Rose and Crown. This is the only place I got sick from.

WDW has too many great places or at least good ones to dwell on the bad... EXCEPT The Rose & Crown. OMG! I'd NEVER EVER go there again. :scared: The food was inedible! At least what the 3 of us had was. Honestly. My DH and DS couldn't eat what they were given either. I don't know if it as because we were on the Candlelight package and had limited choices or what but I couldn't believe we paid $135 for our meal for 3 and had to go out right after and buy other food because we were all starving. Even the fruit and cheese plate! the fruit was good the cheese??? ICK! Turns my stomach to think of that meal. It as after that meal I finally had had enough of paying premium for crappy food. I was ready to go home.

ditto!!
R&C is the only restaurant anywhere in WDW that is just disgusting. with a party of 7 (5 A, 2 C) no one was able to eat the food when it finally came (we were there over 4 hours, the kids fell asleep waiting for the food).
service is excrutiatingly slow (forget drink refills ~ consider yourself lucky to get a glass of water after an hour or so of waiting for anything), so dark you can't see the menu, so rediculously packed that we had to get out of our chairs, push them in, & move to the side every time a server or guest needed to come through, & the food was sooooo horrible (not bland, actually disgusting) that we also went out for dinner afterwards.

the only reason we can figure they're still open is that the view of illuminations is great:confused3

No particular order

1. San Angel Inn
2. Mama Melrose
3. Trails End
4. Whispering Canyon
5. Hollywood & Vine

I have let these opinions help break a tie in our minds as we decide where to eat. For example, we were deciding between Flying Fish and Narcoosee's for one night. Didn't read anything that killed Flying Fish, so we are sticking with it b/c we will be at BCV during that time. If people gave FF the reviews that San Angel Inn or Sci Fi got, we'd probably be going to Narcoosse's instead. (insert horrible review of FF here! :rotfl: )

fyi, we found narcoose's just okay (mostly bland & uninspired food, loud). view is pretty, but you can get the same thing on the beach for no charge :thumbsup2
flying fish, however, was different from most WDW restaurants, with a more varied menu, beautifully prepared (& fresh) food, & excellent, professional waitstaff. we've seen a number of children there, & while they were all incredibly well-behaved (kudos to the parents:thumbsup2 ), they actually seemed to enjoy themselves (chatting, coloring) & their food.

To leave on a positive note: One of our FAVORITES remains Crystal Palace! We've always recieved good service and good food. We leave there happy everytime!:goodvibes

Would this be for breakfast or dinner...we love breakfast, and thought about trying dinner, but it looks like some weird food combos? I am debating on cancelling this...thoughts?[/QUOTE]

We usually do lunch or dinner. Both are very good! We prefer lunch because it's a nice break/rest in the middle of the day. The kids table always has chicken strips, mac-n-cheese and green beans. The salad bar has a very good mixture of different green salads and "creamy" salads and some fresh fruit, veggies and cold cuts! The hot bar usually has a few different kinds of veggie mixes, fish, pasta, carved beef and pork. The different sauces for each dish range from traditional like garlic mash potatoes to curry, pesto, and asian flavors. Really something for everyone's palate!

I hope you get the chance to enjoy CP!:goodvibes

Ok I am VERY easy to please and have been to Disney numerous times. We have eaten at a ton of places. There are only two places that I really did not like.

1) Fulton's - The service and food here were HORRIBLE. We don't expect much nor do we mind if we have to wait a bit. They tried to pass off crabcakes as Maryland style crabcakes to a bunch of people from Maryland. C'mon now...do we look new? That's not our food complaint btw!

2) Garden Grill - The food here was practically inedible...ugh! The only good thing was that there was excellent character interaction.

1. Chef Mickeys dinner, horrible food

2. H&V dinner, totally disgusting

3. Spoodles breakfast, greasy and gross

Boatwrights dinner

This last trip- Captain Cooks. Flatbread was disgusting. Turkey Sandwich was really gross and the dole whip machine was out of order. Polynesian salad was ok.

Sci-Fi. We go for the milkshakes and atmosphere. I had the bruschetta chicken sandwich....yuck! DH had the hamburger and it was pretty good...except for the wheat bun.

The first two I feel very strongly about. The last two is more of a reach.

1. Crystal Palace--bad to so-so food & horrible service every time we've eaten there

2. ESPN Club--Horrible service, food rotten, but really, really horrible rotten service

3. Hollywood & Vine--blah food, blah service

4. Whispering Canyon Cafe--service wasn't great and the food was barely OK. I think this place is way over rated. It wasn't very fun either; I didn't see the personality it is supposed to have.

5. Rainforest Cafe-- over priced, mediocre food, can be had anytime. Don't waste the time & money there at WDW

We like CRT for dinner. It's pricey, but being in the castle makes it worth it. We also had a very good meal with friendly, good service.

I think people need to try these places themselves and form their own opinions because what's good to one family isn't good for the next. We're just back and went to four of the five places listed above. We always enjoy Crystal Palace and this time wasn't any different. We had a great server and thought the food was good especially for the quantity that is served. Had an 11 year old's birthday celebration at WCC that was the highlight of our trip and thought the food was good here too and the service along with our server were great. We're DVC members at BWV and always eat at ESPN at least once each visit. My husband and nieces had the burgers and I had the grilled chicken sandwich. Food was good as was the service. I do think they are a bit pricey, but that doesn't stop us from eating there! Rainforest Cafe I think is hit or miss. We've been when everything's been great and times like on this trip that it was an awful experience - we will go back? Probably sometime in the future. We are pretty easy to please so the experience has to be really bad for us not to go back!

I guess I don't have any horrific dining experiences at disney as of yet. The one bad thing I can say is that the mashed potatos and the collard greens at 50's Prime Time are NASTY. I'm not sure what they put in those potatos, but it was gross. I'm not too picky and I'll eat just about anything if it involves a potato. The rest of the food that we tried was ok though.

Yup. That's why I don't even pay much attention to the restaurants that have only a few people who say they didn't like them. It's also important to see WHAT they're saying about them. People that just give a list of restaurants they don't like doesn't help much.
Value: If they don't like them because they didn't get a good value for the meal, that's totally subjective. And also? You know what the prices are going in, so before you even try it, you know what you're paying.
Service: If there's a problem with the service, it could just be a bad day. Now, review after review of bad service means there might be something to worry about.
Food: If the quality of the food is badly reviewed a few times, it could be just some bad luck. If there are lots, then maybe there's something to worry about.
Atmosphere: This is totally up to personal taste. If someone says they don't like the atmosphere, that doesn't help. If they say, "I don't like XYZ Restaurant because it's really loud and chaotic and they have the kids running everywhere" then this helps. If you don't mind that kind of thing, then it won't matter to you.

It's been a while since we've been so I can't remember all the restaurants, but I know we ate at Sci Fi, Chefs de France, Bongos, Marrakesh, and Planet Hollywood. I can't remember where we ate in MK. Of those, we LOVED Chefs and Marrakesh. Sci Fi was cute and the food was okay, but it's a novelty thing and we probably wouldn't do it again...but not because there was anything really WRONG with it. Bongos was horrid for us, but about half of that was the food choices that we didn't like. Also, we had slow service. Planet Hollywood was Planet Hollywood....same as every other one...same as a Hard Rock Cafe. It was loud, but it was supposed to be. We wouldn't have eaten there if we could have walked into anywhere else that looked appetizing. When we're on vacation, I try my best to not eat somewhere we've got at home. So, at Disney, there will be no McDonald's, Planet Hollywood, or ESPN. Also, we have some good Morroccon (sp?), Chinese, Japanese, etc, but the only real French we have would be La Madeline. Which is good, but still. :) We do have some good Brazillian, but it's expensive and in crowded downtown, so that's something we'd be more likely to try at Disney.

I have had it with Restaurant Marrakesh. The food has always been pretty decent. But I've been there a few times, and unless you get a table on the floor there's a good chance (especially if you're in a big group) of getting stuck in the corner somewhere with some odd shaped combination of tables of different heights and sizes and having to eat with your elbows touching each other as they cram 12 people in a table for 8. That's without mentioning the floor show of protecting your drinks from being knocked over from the people on the other tables who are closer to you than your dentist giving you an exam.

And some of the waitresses are friendly, but I'm not sure if the waiters know you can actually smile in this country.

And then invite the kids up to dance when the only kids in the restaurant would have to be sling shot over about 10 tables to actually get up to the floor since there is nowhere to walk. A good time is had by all.

They are now off the list. Maybe just counter service from now on.

Thanks for all the info! I've never laugghed so hard either:rotfl: I agree with most everyone but now I have a question. We are going to WDW for Easter'09 and I am not sure where to have dinner. I've read that there is an Easter Brunch @ Epcot but it is pricy and I don't know what is offered. Has anyone been to Easter Brunch@ Epcot? Do any of the restaraunts on property do special things for the children? For example, egg hunts, baskets, etc. We are staying at the BC so I am going to ask if they do anything as well. We stayed at the BW a few years ago & there was an Easter egg hunt for the children. I just don't know where to go:confused3 . Please Help!
