Top 4 Best Thrill Rides At Walt Disney World According to You

EE is not in my top four. It's the only ride on the list of contenders that makes me feel ill; hard to enjoy that. It's a once and done (if that) for me. Interesting that it won.

I disagree with the list, personally. For me, these are the top 4:

4) Thunder Mountain - I debated putting this one as 3, actually. The theming is top notch and it delivers a very different experience depending on the time of day you ride it. It's classic and timeless and people of all ages enjoy this one.

3) Space Mountain - It's a true classic. Enhancements made to the queue have only helped the ride, in my opinion. I love standing in line right before you board and seeing the comets, craters, and stars in the sky. If you look closely enough, you can even see the glow of the cars as they zoom past on the tracks. Roller coasters in the dark have their own special thrill and this one delivers.

2) Rock n Roller Coaster - I love how smooth this roller coaster is and the music really adds to the experience. I wish that the queue were done up a bit better, but for a thrill ride, this one is certainly top 4.

1) Tower of Terror - From the moment you see the Hollywood Tower Hotel, you can start to feel the excitement. As you enter the gates, are greeted by the bellhops, see the overgrown gardens, and hear the haunting music, you are fully immersed in the story. It's a thrill long before you ever step foot on that elevator. The movie played in the library really helps set the scene for what you are about the experience. The boiler room helps to add to the anticipation. When you board the elevator, rather than just going up and dropping, they continue to tell the story. The five lost souls beckon you to join them and you know that there's no way off for you. You reach close to the top, the doors open, you move forward to the scenes of haunting images from The Twilight Zone, and you know what is coming. Except you don't, because you have no idea if you are going to drop or go shooting up. You have no idea how long it will last. You are just along for the ride... and some lovely views of the park.

Oh oh. Is Big Thunder Mountain really top 4 thrill ride???? I mean, I have purposely skipped rides such as Tower of Terror, Space Mountain, Mission Space, Rock n Roller Coaster, Astro Orbitor, etc for my kids because these seemed like thrill rides and for older kids. But BTMR seems ok...maybe fast but no big hills. Is it too much then for a 5 year old?

I've never been all that wowed by Test Track. The first part is slow and then the fast part out on the track is too smooth to be interesting. There's a scary moment between the two and the queue and pre-show are fun, but it's always a low priority ride for me.

Do love Expedition Everest, though in terms of "thrills" Tower of Terror is number one for me. I also love Dinosaur, but I don't know if they'd define it as a thrill ride or just as a dark ride. It's gloriously terrifying, regardless.

Depends on the five-year-old. If you do ride it and you're concerned, try to get a seat nearer the front. I prefer the back because it whips you around a lot more, but you might want to avoid it for the same reason. ;)

OK, I've read Astro Orbiter in two different replies. Is that a really a thrill ride?

I think EE definitely belongs in the top 4 and being #1 is perfectly reasonable/deserved. I love all of the rides that made the top 4 and those being nominated in this thread. EE is fantastic, though, and if you ever get the chance to ride it in the dark it *is* the most thrilling and unforgettable experience to be had in all of WDW.

On second thought...I actually think Summit Plummet at BB is the most "thrilling" experience at WDW. It still gets my heart racing as it gets closer to the time for me to have my seat at the top of the slide!

My 6 year old daughter is very cautious. OK...she's a downright chicken when it comes to rides. When she was 5 it took her quite awhile to get up the nerve to go on Big Thunder Mountain. One day she finally got brave enough to go on it...and instantly it became one of her favorite rides. The ride really isn't bad at all. There are no big hills and it is actually quite slow, especially if you sit towards the front. It seems a little faster than it really is because of the close rocks and walls you're going past.

The same thing happened with Splash Mountain. It took her several trips to MK before she would ride. She could see the drop and was afraid of it. Once she finally went on it she loved it.

Of the other rides you mentioned:
She loves Mission Space. It is one of her favorites (green of course)
She loves Astro Orbiter (this is NOT a thrill ride. It is a slightly faster and higher Dumbo)
She hates Tower of Terror. The up and down movement is fine, but she is terrified of the creepy/spooky/scary parts.
She still refuses to try Space Mountain as she is afraid of it being all dark and having to sit by herself.
She isn't tall enough for Rock 'n Rollercoaster.

Having been on all the rides in the last week and a half, I rank EE as the best The last time I was there it wasn't built yet. I rode it 6-7 times between my two visits to AK in the last week and a half. Then Rock N Roller Coaster, Tower of Terror and Mission Space orange. I preferred Mission Space prior to making it spin slower but I still enjoy it.

Yeah...EE definitely deserves it's place...if not #1 then at *least* in the top 4.

Thank you for the tip for BTMR. I have marked to sit at the front.
We went to an amusement park in the summer and for the first time, my DD5 went on a real roller coaster....still one in the kids section but it had good hills up and down and she loved it. So before I would have dismissed BTMR for her but now I think she'll like it.

ucfknight, thanks for the notes to about the rides. Good to hear BTMR is one of your DDs favorites.

4. Rockin roller coaster - my Dh's favorite
3. Expedition Everest - exciting and great theme
2. Space mountain - classic Disney
1. Tower of terror -the best ride ever made!

As a trill junkie who has ridden over 150 coasters, ToT is the only thrill ride at WDW I even consider a top tier thrill. EE is second, and RnR is the only other ride I even put in the category. Space Mountain is fun and all but it along with BTMR just aren't thrilling enough for me. Calling Test Track a thrill ride is laughable to me. I know it's the fastest ride in the parks but it's just not anything special. It's driving down the interstate with the windows down for 10 seconds. My number 4 spot would have to go to Splash Mountain even though 90% of it isn't thrilling. I just like the ride as a whole so much and a lot of people consider the big drop a thrill. Honorable mention goes to Space only because you feel like you are going to have your head cut off.
