Toothpick Holder or Shot glass?

Definitely Shot Glass! ;)

I'll have to get one for my collection. Shot Glasses are a fabulous collectible beause they are small, inexpensive and easy to transport. Besides that, they seem to be in every gift shop at every touristy place we've ever been. We've been collecting them wherever we go for years and years.

I do find it funny that WDW has decided to brand it as a toothpick holder. I guess it's part of the image, just like no beer for sale in the magic kindgom.

Oh, I'll have to get that ! It's a shotglass for sure, who are they kidding?

My DS has been collecting shotglasses since he was three (he had an obsession with everything tiny and thought they were just tiny glasses). He used to line them up and drink soda out of them. Now he's 13 and has about 30 of them and I think we're headin for trouble!

They were called toothpick holders at Busch Gardens in 1985.Came with actual toothpicks. This ain't nothin' new.

Looking at the dimensions, 2 1/2"H 2"W it would seem a little large for a 1 oz shot glass.

Busch Gardens, well yeah, they serve alcohol. :drinking1 So, I wouldn't think twice about seeing a shot glass there, or at Epcot, DAK, DHS, etc.
But MK? :confused3

:scratchinGot me thinking, so here's what I learned...:surfweb:

"There is no standard size for a single shot, except in Utah, where a shot is defined at 1.5 fl oz.[7] Elsewhere in the U.S., the standard size is generally considered to be 1.25–1.5 fl oz.[8][9] In Canada, a "shot" generally refers to the province's definition of a "Standard Drink" under liquor licences. Although sizes may vary, most provinces cite amounts similar to Ontario's guidelines of 0.6 ounces or 17 mL of pure alcohol; since a "shot" is typically a spirit with 40% alcohol, this makes the shot 1.5 oz or 43 mL (though many establishments serve a lower "standard drink" of only 1 oz)[10]. A double shot in North America may be either 2.5 or 3.0 fl oz.[11] A smaller 1.0 fl oz shot is usually referred to as a pony shot or short shot.[12]"

(Some interesting info about Shot Glasses from Wikipedia.)

We have many Disney "tooth pick holders" they have been calling them that for years, we always get at least one or two while on vacation, as previous poster said they make great collectables and useful to if you like to display your tooth pick collection like we do :rotfl:

This. I think they are bigger than a standard shot gloss. You know, to accommodate toothpicks! But who cares, just a double shot :thumbsup2

I also collect shot glasses because they're small, cheap and easy to pack up and take home. I never noticed any at Disney, tho, I'll have to keep my eyes peeled on our next trip.

Lots of places call shotglasses toothpick holders.

I used to collect toothpick holders and it drove me nuts.

Never found an actual toothpick holder at WDW. :)

When I worked in Mouse Gear, we weren't allowed to call them shot glasses. Wine glasses were "dinner wear" and beer glasses were something else...lol

That is hilarious to me - so clearly a shot glass, albeit a "roomy" one.

Thanks for the inside scoop on that!
Interesting that they would have that policy at Epcot, home of the Food & Wine Festival!!! :lmao:

Hello!
A few years ago, I bought a Broadway toothpick holder (with Minnie, Mickey, Daisy and Goofy dancing à la Fosse on it) from the World of Disney store in New York. Unfortunately, I broke it this morning. I'm wondering if anyone might know of any resellers that might carry something like this. Please let me know. Thanks.

I was told that because many "underage" people buy these, that to be "politically correct", they are calling them "toothpick holders". Just another sign of the times!
