I was just watching a commercial for... I can't even remember the product... but it was about the tooth fairy. The little girl got $1 for her tooth and said that a friend of hers got $2.

I got $0.25 as a kid!

So what IS the going rate for the tooth fairy these days?

A dollar seems to be right. That's what our tooth fairy gives. $5 for the very first tooth though. And extra $ if she/he is ever late.

$1 per tooth. $5 for the ones pulled by the oral surgeon. DS said he'd rather just have one dollar and not have to go. :( The poor kid's teeth fracture and then have to be pulled.

An extra "guilt" dollar is left for each night the tooth fairy forgot to show up! I overheard DS telling DD that he hoped the tooth fairy would be too busy to get to our house that night. It seemed that he was still $2 short of what he needed to save to buy a coveted item. :D

The Tooth Fairy just visited last night AND the night before for my DS. $2 a piece. When I was little, I got $1.

According to my soon to be six year old ds, the going rate is $52. Apparently, he knows something I don't. LOL!

Tooth fairy came here last night. DS received $1. We gave him $5 for the 1st tooth, a $1 after that for each tooth. I got a quarter as a kid.

The tooth fairy just came to our house for the first time last week... We had decided a while ago that he should get $5 for the first one and $1 for each additional one after that. Well then DS kept saying that he would put the money in the Disney Jar (our change jar), so we decided that he could get $10, and a note from the TF to put $5 in the jar and keep $5 for himself. He was sooo excited!!! :teeth:

my dd got $10 for the first tooth (her stepdad told her the going rate was $20 a tooth - no way!!) and the second was $3, now she gets $1-$2 for each one. molars might bring in a bit more.

I am surprised the tooth fairy isn't broke by now!! all I used to get was change!!

I used to get around $5 a tooth, but because of my dad's side of the family, they would not come out easily...and if they did, it would be extremely painful. Ended up I had to have the dentist remove some of them, and because I'm deathly afraid of the dentist, my mom said she'd pay me $50 a tooth if I'd pull it out myself (which would be less than the dentist bill). I only had the guts to pull out one of those, but decided I'd rather be knocked out and have the dentist pull them, so I'd have no pain. :p :p

Edited to say: I was around 15 years old when the $50 deal came up..so it wasn't like I was an 8-year old getting loaded with that much cash. :p

$1.00 a tooth ($2.00 if Mr. Tooth Fairy doesn't realize that his wife has already covered it.)

I think $1.00 is fine. I keep the gold dollars handy to use.

When my DD's friends/schoolmates started comparing notes - the tooth fairy started paying in "foreign coins" - which our DD thought was very cool!

i always gave the kids 50 cents, even tho my kids friends claimed they were getting $5. About 3 yrs. ago I started giving my daughter foreign coins - much more interesting. (but make sure you have them in stock - one night our tooth fairy left only Canadian coins.:teeth:

Ok, I have to admit that my daughter received $5.00 a tooth. I know it was alot but she is my only child....

She just lost her last tooth last month so the toothfairy gig is over with...........princess:

princess: The Tooth Fairy leaves a different amount each time...as I recall, $2 plus a little treat like lip gloss for the first and anywhere from $1 - $1.50 for the others. DD,8, tried to convince the T. F. that "silver teeth" were worth alot more than white ones...didn't fly.
