Question? I am doing the marathon at disney in a couple of weeks. So far in my training I have only had time to do my long distance days on the weekends. Because i am working and going to graduate school i can't get to the gym during the middle of the week. Well.....since i am on break now from school should i add back my weekday workouts or not (since i am now on the taper part of the program). Any advice would be helpful.:wizard:

Hi Zela!!!

If you haven't already go to the top of the WISH board and click on the EVENTS board link and give a holler there.

I would think some light workouts would be ok. If you haven't been doing it then starting out on the lighter end of what you had been doing and working back up. I've been bad this entire month but that is what I would be doing.

Best of luck!!!! Lily is really good for checking in so maybe our resident Goofy will be able to give a bit more experience insight. I'm more a Halfer doing her 1st Full and I'm a horrible taper-er! LOL If the weather was nice tomorrow and I could talk one of my training partners into it I'd be the one most likely to try to get in 18 miles instead of the 10 I've been told I might be able to have :lmao: The race gets closer the more nervous I get and the more I want to add miles LOL

See ya in a few days!!!! Woohoo!!!!

I'd say that XT definitely counts as ok during taper. Just don't offer up too much so you don't hurt yourself at this point. Make it as Diane suggested, on the lighter side and go for it.

I'm transferring this thread to the events side where I am sure you will get more advice.

Stop by and meet us. We'd love to get to know you.

Zela: I have been in a kind of forced taper and have had to cut back on the daily running too. I have kept up my XT during the week though and I feel that Lily is correct in her advice of moderation.
