Too many days on tickets

We're about 3 weeks out from our trip and I was looking at everything today and noticed that we have 1 too many days on our park tickets. I don't know what I was thinking when I was making the reservation... apparently I couldn't count at the time.

Is there a way to take that extra day off and get a refund for it or am I too late to modify my reservation like that?

ETA: Yikes, according to my ticket, we're only 2 weeks out! Better start packing lists!!

Depending on how many days you have, you're probably only looking at around $10 a ticket.

Agreed with smbowtie above me. Extra days go for about $10 a day once you hit 4 or 5.

The answer to your question is no, you can't reduce the number of days on a ticket. Disney has no problem with you upgrading a ticket, but not downgrading. I understand that it is different in that you haven't used the ticket yet, but if they allowed days to be knocked off, every time someone had a flight delay or a rainy day, there would be lines for refunds.

There's no harm in asking at guest services. On my last trip, I bought fl resident 3day tickets for $189 and then they dropped a promo price to $139. The concierge at my resort told me to go to. MK guest services and see what they can do. They changed my ticket for me and gave me a gift card for the balance. Oh, and I upgraded to park hopper and still got some refunded from original price.

You can also ask to change to non-expiration, so if they cannot adjust the ticket, you can extend your tickets well beyond the rumored price increase and use it on a future visit.

Any chance you'll have time on your first or last day that you didn't plan on going to the parks and now can?

Will you be returning for a longer stay in the future? You can hold on to those tickets (they don't expire) and buy new tickets for the appropriate days for your upcoming trip. Of course if your budget does not allow it, I would have to agree with what others have said.

How about adding another night to your stay :rolleyes1 (oops - editing to delete my misinterpretation of the previous poster's comment - thanks bumbershoot for pointing that out!)
Maybe you added the extra day because the difference between the day shorter was so small that you thought you'd go to a park either your arrival or departure day.

They meant to not even use these tickets and buy a whole new set. That way it works. But that's a hefty expense.

For my trip in September I changed from a 10 day PH down to a 2 day base ticket (after I realized I'd be getting a AP). They had no problem downgrading the ticket for me.

Unless you have paid extra (a lot extra) they do indeed expire. Usually 14 days after the first usage. I didn't see anyplace any mention of them being non-expiration tickets. However, depending the length of stay the last day may not be a very significant amount of money. :cool2:

Is this for your F&W trip that is coming up in Sept 2015? If your tickets are part of a package you can make changes to your tickets up to 45 days before arrival without penalty. The OP, however, will be in DW in 2 weeks so even if the tickets are part of a package they would have to pay the change fee and the paperwork fee (total of $65) to take 1 day off of the tickets.

I think PP meant that OP could hold onto these tickets without activating them and they will not expire. Then OP could buy new tickets for the number of days she needs, and use the current tickets for another trip.

OK, if that is the case, then I didn't understand the statement. However, that seems like an awful lot of money to tie up for a long period of time just to save a few bucks. :confused3

I agree. We bought 1 day too many back on our December trip. I took a cue from Elsa and Let It Go. However, it's just DH and I that require tickets. If I had a large family it might be a bigger deal I suppose.

You'll get hit with a fee that's more than you'd get back dropping the day at this point (with a package).

I'd just drop it or find a half day on arrival or departure.

I actually bought 4, 10-day PH tickets instead of 9-day, on purpose. I bought them from Undercover Tourist and they don't offer 9-day tickets for some reason. It was still cheaper for us to do it this way even though we won't be able to use the last day.

For our 3 tickets it's only a $30 difference so I guess no big deal.... I'm just irritated with myself that I reminded my parents to drop a day on their tickets (like 6 months ago) and I forgot to do it for my own family!

We do have a non-park day planned (3 little kids, figuring they're going to need a low key kind of day) and on our departure day, the plane doesn't leave until 7 p.m. so we could end up using the tickets after all. Or perhaps we'll just talk my parents into watching the kids for an evening while DH and I head to a park for a couple of hours to just meander around... stranger things have happened, right?????

How hard is it to get a table service meal with no ADR's?

That really depends on where you want to eat. We love Marrakesh in Morocco and have been able to get walk in seating there every trip because it's not one of Epcots more popular restaurants. We haven't eaten at a sit down restaurant since they changed the policy to put a credit card hold on all table service ADRs - I would think that policy would make it easier to get walk in reservations.

my dilemma: we have 3 tickets with 3 days ,3 days, 1 day left on them. (dont ask, I used a few days over the years off one ticket).Anyway, would they let us 'trade' one day over to the 1 day ticket so we can go for an afternoon more than the 1 day we are planning for next week? Its all in the family.
