Hey guys,
Just wondering if anyone actually starts packing 4 months ahead of time??? I am just wondering if I am the only one or if there are other people that do this....I just think it would be better if I go ahead and start getting things everyweek so at the last minute I am not going shopping and spending tons of money on stuff that I could have already had, you know...Just wondering if anybody does this and if so, What sort of stuff do you get along the way...I have a two year old son and this is our first WDW trip with a child of any age and I am pre-planning big time this year.....Thanks guys.

If I had room to have the suitcases out now I would be packing too. As it is the new clothes I have bought are in carrier bags in the spare room waiting to be packed - I cannot wait to start properly.

I haven't started packing yet, but as I buy stuff for our trip it goes in the rubbermaid box or travel bag in my closet. I bought my kids clothes on sale for our trip which is also part of their christmas. Our matching shirts go in the Mickey bag along with Mr. Potao Head, and my sample which I get free, go in the back pack. In July I'll pull it all out and see what I still need.

I don't think it's too early - my vacation is 6 months away and I started to buy things here and there and put them in boxes.....I have so much going on right now with wedding plans that I don't want to forget anything. :)

I'm glad to see there are others just like me. :)

After returning from our last Disney trip I decided to just keep the Disney stuff in the suitcase and not put it all away. It made unpacking go alot faster and now that we have another trip booked I can just toss stuff to it. Then I don't have to go through the house and hunt everything down and make up a new bag of first aid stuff, or find the travel bottles of shampoo. I just refill them when we get home and throw them back into the suitcase.

I keep the mugs, ponchos, walkie talkies, autographs pens, travel first aid kit (though I do check to be sure the meds and creams haven't expired), stroller cover made out of a Disney poncho (taped the hood closed), etc.

Since we go in Decmber or January, I have to pack for any kind of weather so I have already bought lots of cloths for our next trip as they were on sale and w/ coupons.

I also pack them in outfits in Ziplock bags w. sock, undies and hair access.

Anytime I buy something for the trip, it makes it seem a little closer. Also- speading out the purchases over a few months makes it a little easier on the budget as well.

I have a master Disney packing spreadsheet I use for Disney. After each trip I may add or take off something. I check things off as I pack them so I don't have to unpack each time to see if I already packed it.

On the spreadsheet I list item to pack, the qty of each (like socks) and everyone's name. ( I also refer to this spreadsheet for non-isney trips just to be sure I don't forget anything).

Things like flip flops are realy easy to get now but in January- a little more challenging- so I buy them for the kids at the Children's place for 2 for $5 and throw them in the suitcase. I get swimsuits at the end of summer on sale and thow those in.

Have a great trip! :cheer2:

Never too early - I am like others here and just keep my bag packed . altho my kids have grown so I did have to unpack and go on a shopping spree (bummer right!) but since its early in the season yet I got some good deals and had the pick of the crop !! we are going in July so I am not taking anything bulkie (one pair of pants and one sweatshirt each) so we might even be able to cut down on the amount of suitcases this trip ..

Hi, I am new here and I can see that I am going to fit in just fine.

I think that it is never too early to start packing. I have a trip to florida scheduled in May and lucky enough to spend one day in WDW. Better than nothing. I also have business trips in June and July. I have all my packing lists for each trip and I am starting to get things around for each trip.

I am of the you can never be too prepared scholl of thought. :earsgirl:

It's never too early to start gathering! The bed in our guest room is piled with new clothes and shoes for grandkids, pool toys, and a power swimr for th 2yr old. I have everything for them ready to go, so when my son and DIL drop them off all they need are toothbrushes! I also keep a big tote bag that I add things too as I pick them up. As it happens, I'm on my way to Target to see what else I can find, still looking for mister fans.

I love gathering things for vacation!

Its a tad early to start packing clothes (you may need them before then and they could be a little wrinkled being in a bag for 2 months), but I keep all my travel size toiletries in one place. I keep pretty good tabs on what is in there so I can pick up a thing or 2 each week and not have that extra bill right before my trip

I buy little things here and there... when sunscreen, film, batteries, etc. go on sale, I buy them. It's nice to be ahead of the game instead of scrambling the day before... but I usually do forget something along the way, haha. :rotfl2:

You know I told myself that too, that I was going to buy things every week so I didn't have to buy everything at once. But I am so lazy that I have yet to do it and I only have two months left and that doesn't leave me that much time. It is also nice to see that other people buy new clothes to take on vacation with them.. I thought that I was the only one that did that :)

My DW has a rubbermaid tub she adds to as the time passes. Then most of the clothes are ready to go and just get transferred to the suitcase (after washing)
She also has a drawer full of Disney only stuff (ponchos, small toys for DS for the plane, sharpie) all this and the Passporter too!

I feel so much better knowing that I'm not the only one who keeps things packed. I have all the toiletries repacked the day or so after we get home - all the other WDW essentials stay right in the suitcase - ponchos etc - and I always start packing the rest a few months in advance. Every once in a while someone will ask me about packing - I open my closet and show them how I could be ready to leave for a trip in a matter of minutes.

We still have more than a month before our trip and I've been buying things since February. I have a tote bag filled with stuff for our trip. I bought lots of new clothes for DDs and a few new items for DH and me. My next step is to get the suit cases down and start packing. I'll wait a little while longer to do that.

my cruise is over a year away and i all ready started doing thing to get ready. Like make door sign, and shirts for pirate night. I can't wait. !!

Not at all, and that's coming from a last minute packer! :) It's always a good idea to start buying things you will need ahead of time (Soap dispensers, shampoo, conditioner, sunscreen, etc.) because when vacation time gets nearer finances will be tighter b/c more money is going towards the actual trip, not to the extras you may want to bring along.

We took a trip this past February and it was the first one I didn't do ahead of time and I felt so out of sorts I vowed never again! We're going next year and I'm already looking for deals and figuring out what we'll need to bring with us. I'd rather be overprepared rather than underprepared!

I have a rubbermaid tub with stuff for the next trip that I have found on sale, etc. it's better for me to pick up a couples things each week than buy it all at once right before. :cool1:

amen to that^^^

we lay out our stuff in the extra bedroom about 5 weeks before the trip...but I always get antsy and start months before :hyper2:

our trip is 68 days away and we already have taken inventory of what we already have and my DW is slowly buying what we will need for this next trip. we had last years packing list on our laptop so we just looked at it and made whatever changes we felt were necessary and just yesterday we looked over the luggage to see if it is in good shape. the crazy part about this is the luggage is only 2 years old :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

i think that of you are into making lists it is always a good idea to save that list so you can refresh your memory as to what you may have forgotten to pack or packed too much of etec. this worked very well for us
