OP here. Thanks for all the replies! I know it will be busy either way, just trying to judge if any one week is busier than another (not that I have a choice!)

i don't think april is normally all that busy (barring the week before/after easter if it falls mid- april).
DH is a teacher so we too have to stick to school vacations now. Feb. vacation will always be waaay too crowded for me (it's always the week of President's day and WDW is always packed that week), so April vacation is our only other option and for next year, it's the week of 4/14. I'm not expecting it to be too crazy busy -- 4-6s on the crowd calendar.

Another teacher here. This year, the kids had a different week from me and did not want to be out of school. Next year we all have 3rd week of April and we are going to give it one more try to see if we can pull it off (we had originally planned on December 2008 as our treat after I finished school, but have not yet been able to do it). Hoping that this will be the year!

Ours is the week of March 11. We were planning on going March 1st for 2 weeks, and I'm hoping that the crowds won't be too bad since our spring break is early and we're going a week earlier also.

Last time we went during Thanksgiving and we expected that Thanksgiving week would be busy, but that the week after was going to be a very low crowd week. It was busier the week after Thanksgiving than it was the week of. So that clearly didn't work out.

School calendar is finally out for next year.

We are the week of March 17, which looks like a less busy week sandwiched between two much more popular Spring Break weeks. :yay:

Oklahoma State Board of Ed always "recommends" one week for Spring Break, and most districts follow the recommendation, so most Oklahoma travelers will arrive around March 17.

As a PP said, all if not most of Ontario is the second week in March. We've booked our flights the day they came out for $1450 Cndn (for 3 of us), the next week the prices were DOUBLE that! My husband laughs at my Disney planning but I'm saving a lot of money this trip because of it!

the kids here will be out March 24th through April 7th (2wks) but we don't travel during their spring break because it conflicts with DH and my college break.

March 18-22 here (Ohio). I cannot recall it ever being this early but our district has recently changed where we get out even earlier in the spring and go back mid-August so maybe that has something to do with it. :confused3

Texas (or at least Austin) is the second week of March (Mar 11-15). We're planning to visit WDW then -- should we expect the worst, crowd-wise?

Crowds will be very large that week.

The weather, however, should be great. And, in my opinion, that makes dealing with crowds a whole lot easier than in summer, when crowds are almost as large.

The state of Alabama passed a new regulation about when we can start and end school. That sent everyone back to redo their school calendars. We were originally going to be the 3rd week of April, now we are the March 31st week. I hate that puts us at WDW with Easter. Not excited about that change. We are a private school, so we don't have to follow the public school schedule. All counties in Alabama do their own thing when it comes to spring breaks. Neither of the counties surrounding us will have spring break when we are taking it. But, it's either a spring break trip that happens to come at Easter, or no trip, so I will take the spring break trip with Easter. We've done Christmas and New Years before, so surely it can't be that bad.

I'm in the Kansas City area and our Spring Break is March 18-22. We're tentatively planning a visit home to OKW. I'm curious about the crowd levels though & will be checking that before finalizing plans.

First time Spring Breakers here but it's either that or the dealing with the heat of summer. We normally would go in April and just take the kids out but with my oldest starting her first year of high school and our 7yr being in 2nd grade with the diagnoisis of ADHD it can be a challenge playing catch up and we don't want to stress our girls out just for a vacation. Those reasons and the fact that I'm getting remarried in May of 2013 so we don't want to plan both a big family vakay and honeymoon back to back.

Our Spring Break begins March 25th, returning to school April 2nd. I was really hoping to go to WDW this week but I'm so worried about the crowds. However, a friend of mine was in the MK on Easter Sunday two years ago and she said it was practically empty. I somehow doubt that will happen this year. I've also heard about complete gridlock on the roads around WDW spring break. Should we avoid going? I think we would head out of town before Easter.

I priced the Polynesian for this week ---$850 per night for garden club! The prices and crowds are awful but the weather is beautiful and we won't be missing school. Planning was easier when we had pre-schoolers!

this just goes to show how everyone's perception of "crowded" is completely different. IDK which year your friend was talking about but in checking historical records, Easter Sunday at MK was a 9.3 on the in 2009, a 8.9 in 2010, and 9.6 in 2011 (scale of 1-10, 10 being the busiest).

Here in West Texas were having SB March 11-15 so I was looking at flying out of here on the 9th and being at WDW the 10th-16th then fly back the 17th, are the crowds really that bad? Summer is pretty crowded plus heat lol
But I also don't wanna be cold on our trip

Unfortunately, our school district's spring break ALWAYS borders Easter Sunday :headache: (a few days off during the week leading up to Easter and the Monday after). The combination of peak crowds and pricing (hotel rates and airfare) is what keeps us from planning a spring trip. If our spring break didn't border Easter then we would probably go in the spring for the nicer weather.
