Too big for stroller--the website

The stroller website makes fun of children. I don't care if they are disabled or not. I'm not deliberately ignoring anything. Laughing at clothing is not the same as laughing at a disability. Again, clothing can be changed. On Walmart, I would laugh at the CLOTHING. On Stroller site, you are laughing at a child. I'm not here to debate whether websites are appropriate or not. Uh yes it is... you're still judging, and you don't know that person's situation. Also, it seems most of the angst of the stroller website is at the parents for putting their children in strollers...

I have four kids, most small, and I found it humorous, however, some of them looked to be about 2/3/4 and for most kids, on a normal touring day, they do indeed very much need a stroller.... also, whos to say you (the guy running the site) didn't catch the kids in the 1-20 mins they were catching a break from the walking??

Also, I would MUCH rather (as PP mentioned) see a 6/7/9 yr old in a stroller if needed than having a meltdown and freaking out b/c they're over tired and still in the parks....

As much as you try to 'kid' yourself into believing you are just laughing at clothing, you know good and well you are laughing at the people who chose to wear those things without knowing a thing about them. And you aren't laughing at the children, you are laughing at the absurdity of them being in a stroller when many of them could be walking and getting exercise.

And if I can laugh at adults, I can laugh at kids. Heck, I can laugh at myself and my friends. You just need to lighten up.

I am sorry but this my child is tired and I don’t want him/her to ruin my vacation shows what sort of society we live in. There is no reason a school age( by that i mean 1st grade and up) child who is both pysically and mentally healthy should be riding in a stroller. My daughter would have rather died than ride in a stroller at 5 much less 7. We are going with a 9 and 3 year and old this summer and no stroller. We will take breaks and make sure they are rested because if they are going to complain about walking than we will vacation somewhere else.

Good for you.

I will have a stroller for my DD, age 4.

Live and Let live.

I don't understand why this is one of the topics on here that brings out the worst in people. Why does it bother people so much?

You want your 3 year old to walk - go for it.
You want to push your 6/7/8... year old in a stroller - go for it.

I'll do what is best for my kids and our situation, you do the same for yours.

Sorry but I never said a 4 year old should not have access to a stroller. I would bring one for my 3 year old but he would rather walk so it would be a waste of time. My comments were for school aged children who are capable of walking. Putting your over sized snowflake in a stroller for convenience sake is ridiculous.

Reminds me of being in WDW when my nephew was about 5. It was his first big outing w/o being in the stroller. He kept begging my brother to get him one. My brother would say he was too big. One hot afternoon he was playing around in the Epcot fountains with a new friend named Joey who looked to be around 8. After Joey was done running and skipping through the fountains he ran straight to his comfy double stroller, sharing with his much younger sister. My brother and I just had to laugh. If you would have seen the look on my nephew's face, you would have laughed too. For the rest of the trip we had to hear about how big Joey gets to ride. No fair!! No fair!! I was ready to get the kid a stroller myself!:rotfl:

Most of those kids don't, at least I dont think so, look too big for a stroller. The problem comes when they are pushed in a too small stroller so it just looks like they are jammed in. I feel bad for the kids then because they are jammed in a small stroller.
And with a lot of these pictures they probably were taking a short break in the stroller but walked most of the time.

The only one I thought funny was the young boy that had a leash attached to his grandpa...

o good grief.......

WHY do people care so much about what so n so does???? unless it directly effects you is it REALLY worth getting so worked up over?!?

Yea, I take a stroller, and yes my 7 yr old MAY get in it for a few minutes here and there.... that doesn't mean she sits in it the WHOLE TIME.....

Besides I think this classifies as a 'NUNYA' as in NUNYA BUSINESS LOL!!!!!! ;)

At the end of a long day in the parks, I wish someone would push ME around in a stroller. Yep, I'd do it! Walking all day is exhausting, I don't care how old you are. Live and let live. We might end up renting a stroller for my older daughter (6) on our fall trip, because frankly, I'd rather push a quiet, sleeping kid than drag or carry a crabby exhausted one.

I'm pretty laid-back and not easily offended, but I will say this site rubs me the wrong way. Someone posted it to another board I'm on a few weeks ago, and at that point the blog author was *not* blocking out the faces of the children. So my primary issue isn't with whether or not the kids are too big, but with the fact that someone is taking photos of other people's children and posting them on the internet without express permission from the parents. I don't think that's cool at all.

I also hope that when the blog author does have children, that they are poor-sleeping picky eaters, because she is a seriously smug person.

I, too, was a great mom before i had kids. :rolleyes1

Yeah, but one of those people could be someone who was in a rush getting something for their child was ill. A person who normally prides themselves on dressing nicely and is slowly being pushed over the edge and is now on a website wear people can pick on them for throwing on those not so nice looking pair of pants...

The difference here is that the folks on the people of Wal-Mart website are wearing things that shouldn't be in their closet in the first place. If it wasn't in their closet, it wouldn't have been there to put on, and then they wouldn't end up on the website.

No one is saying that you have to "dress up" to go to Wal-Mart, but I think everyone would agree that your clothing should cover your ENTIRE bum.

PP have said that they push their kids in a stroller because their kids would complain otherwise. I think the kids know this and manipulate the situation to get a cushy ride.

I'm willing to bet that if you said to little Billy, "Oh, ok, you're too tired to walk? We'll just leave then", Billy would change his tune and be more than happy to walk.

I doubt it.

Kids get tired....they have to take around 2-3 steps for every one of ours.

That's why as adults many of us look out for them a bit, carry them, give 'em a stroller ride...you know.... care for them.

Just went there, and every bum on the first page of pics was covered. And again, it's really none of your business what they choose to wear as much as it's nobody's business about who is too big or old for a stroller.

Maybe if people didn't approach the parks commando style, there would be fewer exhausted and complaining kids.

Just because I refuse to let my daughter (not that she would want or has wanted to in years ) ride in a stroller does not mean I don't care for her. In fact her and my son are the reasons why we vacation at Disney and make sure to take swim and rest breaks so that they have the energy to enjoy themselves. If we have an ADR but it looks like they may not have the disposition to behave and enjoy themselves because they are so tired that can't focus or get control of themselves than guess what we skip it. I CARE for not only my children but also others who sharing space with us in Disney.

Oh, the 'but they may be disabled' card, the one that turns people into poor, poor pitiful me, puddles of uselessness... or at least that's how some people want to look at them.

Children with disabilities are not to be pitied and deemed incapable of achieving goals in society. And their parents are quite capable of getting them strollers they fit in appropriately. There are some great links on the disABILITIES forum on places to rent them when at WDW.

When I see a large kid folded into a small stroller, it does make me smile - it means the kids are worn out, having fun, there's more fun to come, and most likely there's a smaller kid who actually fits in the stroller running around having a blast. Kids who wouldn't be seen dead in a stroller near home find it quite a relief to get in one down at WDW, and are willing to contort themselves into near fetal positions for that blessed break.

Exactly what I feel about it. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2
