Too big for stroller--the website

Wow, I didn't reaqlize it was such a problem for others to have a child in a stroller. I have been considering a stroller for Disney. I am thinking that one of my three girls will be whiney at some time or another and dragging them to the front of the park to head back to the resort wouldn't be fun... I would rather push em :)

Pro: Convenient to push tired/worn out children. Extra baggage areas for souveniers and drinks. Can bring a cooler without carrying it.

Cons: Be made fun of.

Hmmmm.

I am just wondering how many children that are posted on that website are using strollers in place of a wheel chair...

That's awesome. Arrive late, leave early - whatever works for you. We'll get a stroller and stay in the park for 16 hours and capitalize on the fact that you and all the others would rather maintain your appearances to others than to use a strategy to get the most out of the park.

Just be sure whatever breaks you take in the parks aren't in a stroller path, cuz we're coming through.

:)

It has nothing to do with appearances I am just not going to drag tired whiny kids through Disney or make them sit through an ADR if they can not behave.. I would appreciate if others would be considerate to also do the latter because there is nothing worse than some over stimulated snowflake having a meltdown ruining everyone else’s diner because their parents or to self involved to give a damn about anyone else around them. I am sure your children are just pleasant after 16 hours of being drug around a park.

Look for us on that site this fall/winter. My 5yo DS (who looks older than that) will probably be in his stroller quite often. Allowing him to "rest" between attractions is for everyone's benefit, trust me. There is a reason I paid big bucks for a stroller that will hold him until 55 pounds, and I intend to get every penny's worth out of it. :-)

My hope is that Disney reads this and realizes the potential in renting family rickshaws.

Now, that could be perfect for WS. They could get some actual rickshaw drivers from China and India. Or better yet, they could just require everyone to ride a scooter around the parks, at extra charge of course.

Oh, yeah. Basically, there are those who believe that since they are inconvenienced by people pushing strollers with "older" kids, the people who are pushing strollers with "older" kids should inconvenience themselves and stop. Of course, it's never put quite like that, but that's the jest of it.

Meh, I used to be really against "older" kids riding in strollers, but really, it's none of my business. Honestly, I've never had an issue with strollers being in my way...even before we traveled with DD and had a stroller of our own.

Really? Snowflake? I detest it when that word is used. Is it supposed to sound nicer than brat? It really doesn't.

There is an EXCUSE for everything. Anytime someone brings something up i.e. lazy people in scooters, men that won't give up their seat, big kids in a tiny stroller.................there's always an excuse! Can't we just come to terms that people are just plain lazy!? Seriously!

They were great. We had a stroller. No issues at all. Glad I could help your cause.

And that, by the way, is kind of the point. With a stroller, a kid could take a little nap or at least regain some energy while not slowing down the rest of the group.

The old adage is that you're only as productive as your least productive person (or something like that). With a stroller, you eliminate the least productive person and...you're only as bad off as your second (or third) least productive person.

Who cares who "should" be in a stroller? If I can find a way for my kid to nap between the Japan pavillion and "Soarin" while we still enjoy the walk - why not take it?

I just got back last night. I haven't looked at the website but did want to comment.

I saw alot of kids to big for stroller thing in the parks as well as hearing alot of "Timmy, put your feet up. I can't push the stroller with your feet on the ground"

"But Mom, my legs hurt, I can't put my feet up."

"Timmy, either put up your feet or we are going to the room!"

*names changed to protect the too big for stroller kids. LOL

:lmao: this post just has me cracking up :confused3

The point that some are trying to make is that they are able to avoid having "tired whiny kids" by using a stroller. Just because that may be the wrong approach for you and your family/children, doesn't mean it is the wrong approach for all families. There is no right or wrong way to tour the parks.

As far as the second bolded statement above, we DO stay from open to close in the parks and NONE of my children have EVER had a meltdown. Actually, leaving the parks early and not getting to see all of the attractions would more likely cause the meltdown than staying 16 hours for my kids. Just because your children can't handle a 16 hour park day without meltdowns, doesn't mean that none can. My kids ARE pleasant after a full day because I used a stroller until I felt they didn't need one. I'm guessing around 7-ish. Sometimes the older ones would take a small break in the youngest's stroller even at 8 or 9. My oldest twisted her ankle last year in Epcot and ended up using my 5 year olds stroller for a while. She was 10 and very tall. We definitely got a few looks but should we all have left the park because she twisted her ankle? She didn't want to leave and neither did we. I'd rather get the funny looks and enjoy the rest of our vacation.

You just need to lighten up.

That makes two of us then. You are very worked up that many don't find a site dedicated to laughing at children funny. Too each their own. Don't worry, I laugh at plenty of inappropriate things. Things like someone who was in the Girls Scouts a few years ago lecturing people twice her age.:rotfl::lmao::laughing:

Gosh I sure hope my 8 year old with Autism and other health issues wasn't on a site somewhere? He was in a MacLaren Major (100lb limit) strapped in and cocconed at times (all 58lbs of him). For his safety and others issues that are very real! Although he DOES look, well - like a kid without any apparent health issues.

I did see a few questionable pictures and humorous comments on that site, but have heard plenty comments with my son and try to smile politely, maybe explain or ignore the snark!

At the end of the day no matter the reason for someone to bring/rent a stroller for their child, it is their vacation and what works for them to enjoy themselves - we all need some magic :wizard:

P.S. No offense was taken - just pointing out another invisible (well, mostly) moment :)

I wonder about the trend. It's one thing for 6 year olds to be in strollers but as they get older and older, I wonder if there's a stopping point. It's not my business though.

You may be twice my age, but you sure don't act like it.

NONE of my children have EVER had a meltdown..

Super parents don't need to llie. Sorry but, no kid is melt down free. It's not possible. It's how the parents deal with the melt downs that matter.

FWIW, I am in the kick a kid out of a stroller at age 3 camp. both my kids, now 9 and 4 had their last use of a stroller at age 2.9 When they hit 3 they were sold in a garage sale, or in 1 case just thrown out.

WHEN, my kids hit melt down. We are already gone or on our way out of the park. I know my kids limits and push it when i can, but as 1 poster said, I will not let my kids ruin others day.
