Tony's Town Square Restaurant

We ate at Tonys for lunch this past May. After reading all the posts online- I was very nervous but my son really wanted to eat in the Lady and the Tramp restaurant. We were seated quickly, the atmosphere was nice- we were in the sunroom facing Main Street and our server was friendly and helpful. I had a very good Salmon Salad w/ fennel and orange and my hubby had the chix parm, kids had pizza. We were on the deluxe plan- and had apps and desert as well- both good. Was it the best Italian that i have ever eaten in my life? No. But it was decent, not that greasy, hubby said chix parm was good. We would go back- its a terrific location and we left full and happy.

Our experience was pretty identical to yours - I'd go back as well, but probably only as a back-up.

Our Recommendations:
. . . appys:... Seasonal Melon w/Prosciutto
. . . entree:.. Fresh Catch Salad
. . . dessert:. Pistachio Crème Brûlée
.
NOTE1: The staff friendliness and the eatery atmosphere are good, but misleading, as the
food is not something to write home about. Meats are average for the Italian entrées, but
akin to CHEF BOY AR DEE - using CHEF BOY AR DEE could be considered an insult to the
famous chef from Cleveland, Ohio. The sauce may be tomato, but it is definitely not a true
marinara. The appetizers are average. In a pinch, Tony's might do, but there are far better
choices. On the plus side, the desserts are simple, but pretty good. Hard to justify going
the first time, let alone going back.
.
NOTE2: If available, one can ask for a outdoor patio table. However, it is not a good place
to view parades, even though one might think so.

so when we did eat at tonys the best part of the meal was dessert. I tried this orange mouse cheesecake and omg I honestly think that was the best desert of the whole trip, LOL. So while I wasn't that ecstatic about the lunch...the desert made up for it imho, lol

does anyone know if the pizza's at Tony's are pre-made or can i request the pizza with no sauce??

If you don't like the tomato sauce on thechicken, you can request an Alfredo sauce instead, then it's basically a big chicken tender slab with Alfredo sauce. Good for kids or the poster who didn't care for the red sauce

"Heart Attack on a Plate"?

Most vacation food is,unless you get the naturally healthy options, or special order your food. I found the common garlic potatoes mashed they have at pretty much all the table restaurants, like the ones at house of blues so loaded with who knows what they can actually make you sick if your not used to them.

If you are in the Magic Kingdom and do not want to leave the park for a meal, then Tony's is a perfectly good option. We thoroughly enjoyed it the last time we went (in the last year), ordering a flatbread, chicken parm and the eggplant stack, along with an appetizer and a couple of desserts among the family. Yes, there are better Italian restaurants on property (Via Napoli, Tutto Italia, Il Mulino, etc.), but the fact that Tony's might not be as good/nice/fancy as those places doesn't mean Tony's doesn't have its place in the theme park dining world, and it's not always convenient to get over to the other options if you're at the MK and want to stay in the park for a meal. It always cracks me up when people compare it to Olive Garden as if that is the most horrible fate imaginable. There are millions of people who love Olive Garden...we can't all have Italian grandmothers who cooked sauce all day long and made their own ricotta.

Let's face it -- the high end "fine dining" options inside the MK are slim to none. The table service restaurants in the MK are geared toward families and are not looking for multiple diamond ratings from AAA. Dining at WDW (especially in the MK) is all about expectations. If you go into Tony's expecting the best meal of your life with white glove service, you're going to be sorely disappointed....but if you go in there expecting a good meal with a convenient location -- i.e., inside the most popular theme park on the planet -- then you'll come out satisfied.

Thanks DJFan88! I know last time I ate there i was able to change the sauce to ALfredo, but wasnt sure about the pizza's:flower:
We have reservations there in 2 weeks, and am just planning ahead!

We love Tony's for a late lunch so we can watch the parade go by while we eat. Our favorite is the Flatbread pizza, but truly, we've never had a bad meal there…and I don't like the Olive Garden. Our server the last time we went was awesome too.

Ate there for free and it still cost too much. There is a reason it always pops up as available.....

Boma's, 50's Prime Time, MaMa Melrose always pop up too. People rave about those. Gotta make your own decision. We booked and canceled Tony's several times because of Dis ratings. Finally ate there last year and it was wonderful.

Tony's is not only the worst restaurant on Disney property, it's the worst restaurant I have ever eaten at. My wife and I, who aren't picky, couldn't eat our food it was so bad, and when my DD8, who is not sophisticated in her tastes and has spaghetti as her favorite meal, couldn't eat hers that says it all. Beyond bad. Stay far far away from this place.

The Olive Garden has better Italian food. The other thing about Tony's is the lack of atmosphere. It's one thing to have mediocre food plus atmosphere, but Tony's has blan food and no atmosphere.

I can't understand how people say the food is good.

My DD and I dined there this May and I have to say it was one of our favorites. We ate lunch at 11:00 am and enjoyed the shaded porch area. I substituted chicken for the shrimp scampi and it was delicious. The service was outstanding. We will be back.

Glad to know I won't be making an ADR for this. I used to love "Alfredo's" in EPCOT, such delicious Italian food.

DH and I ate at Tony's on our trip last year. We totally enjoyed both meals and the best part was that we were lucky enough to be seated " on the rail " of the front porch just in time for the Electric Light Parade. :flower1: It was a wonderful enchanted evening for both of us. The service was great and the food was delicious ! Don't let other people make up your mind , try it for yourself . Different strokes for different folks , good luck pixiedust:

Well I'm not sure they are a good comparison.
- Boma is a resort restaurant and those are generally easier to get because many don't want to deal with the commute without a car. Add that it offers two meals, is a large space and it can do a faster turnover being it's a buffet.
- 50's Prime, I kinda disagree. While I can usually find something, it's not usually at usual meal times. It's also at a park that isn't that large and yet offers five table service restaurants. Proportionately that's a lot for that park.
- Mama Melrose, again is in DHS where there is ample supply for the demand. I would also say that Mama gets lots of mixed reviews. Even though I have always enjoyed my meals, I usually don't book because I forget it's even there.

Tony's consistently has negative reviews and it's not even mildly negative. I booked to try on my own. It was a disaster from the long wait, the cleanliness, the rudest server ever and only the desserts were worth eating. I usually try to give a place a second try but I just can't bring myself to go back. The Magic Kingdom has too few Table Service options and it never fails, try to book a meal in MK and EVERYTHING is completely booked, except Tony's. There is a reason for that.

But I agree that folks should always try on their own if they want because we all have different tastes and expectations for value.

We love Tony's for MK dining. We have only done lunch but the food we choose is on both dinner and lunch menus. Shrimp Scampi and Chicken Parmesan and the two go to dishes and both have always been good. We've had the calamari and a couple of other appetizers and they have always been good. We have checked in earlier than our ADR at a crowded time and got seated within 5 minutes. Service has been fine.

If you're looking for gourmet, that it's not but I find it difficult to believe that everyone here eats only the best of the best for every meal of every day. And I like Olive Garden...
