Tony's Town Square or The Plaza Restaurant?

The Plaza! We thought the food at Tony's was HORRIBLE!!!!! It was just nasty!! Never again!

We will be there the week after Christmas. It was sort of a last minute decision, so by the time we booked all the TS restaurants were completely full for our MK day (Dec 30th). Since we're going to be there all day, I definitely wanted a sit-down dinner to rest our legs a bit. After a few weeks of trying and nothing at all being available, I was able to get a dinner at Tony's.

After reading some of these Tony's reviews, I'm not so sure I'm feeling good about that anymore.:rotfl: Oh well, at least we won't have to wait in a line and scramble for a table at a QS!

It's all good...

Right?

We strongly prefer The Plaza to Tony's. Ate at Tony's once, many years ago, and just simply didn't like it. The Ragu comment by another is close to what I thought - and I am not even remotely Italian.

However, given your circumstances - I would try Tony's again. I would continue to stalk the ADR system to try to pick something else up. But if nothing became available, I would choose the TS reservation over fighting the crowds for a QS meal.

BTW - we'll be at MK the same day! Maybe we'll see you, amongst all the millions! :lmao:

WooHoo! We must be the other family that enjoys Tony's.

It will never win any awards, but the spaghetti with a meatball and a sausage is a nice twist, and the tiramisu is a wonderful dessert... And I love the building and location.

Tony's is my DD19's favorite restaurant on property and insists we eat there every trip. Last year when we were only at WDW for two days it took months of hounding reservations to get her a reservation but I managed!

I'm always convinced when I hear people say the food at Tony's was "great" they they must feel the same about Olive Garden and jars of tomato sauce from the likes of Ragu and Prego and Francesca Rinaldi. For me, what I just mentioned makes me gag and I truly cannot eat it. But then, I grew up with real Italian food in an Italian-American family - I don't think I tasted fake Italian food like that until I was like 20 years old and it truly was a shock to my taste buds.

However, if you grew up with jar sauce and Olive Garden, than you won't notice any difference with the quality of food at Tony's I guess.

Are you kidding? A jar of Ragu is heaven compared to Tony's! :rotfl2:

I don't like Italian food (real or imagined).
Granddaughter really liked the spaghetti w/meatball.
The steak I had w/potatoes & seasonal veggies was one of the best meals we had last Sept. The creme brulee was great also.
We had cancelled previous ADRs at Tony's due to a few bad reviews but so glad we kept this one.

We love The Plaza. We received the best service there at our last trip. I do agree that it is only a small step up from QS and it is sad that you have to walk outside to get to the bathroom, but the good was fresh and very tasty and not overly seasoned. The waitress even offered to have something else made for my son when he was slow to start his pb&j. We have had two great experiences there and I would certainly recommend it. It is also very affordable, which is nice when paying OOP.

We decided to try Tony this year and it was decent. Keep in mind, I'm a chubby 100% italian girl from a 90% italian neighborhood in NJ. It takes a lot to impress me as far as italian food goes. Tony's was just OK, especially for Florida. I like the Plaza better. We went there on the last trip and the ice cream was the highlight.

For dinner, I like a glass (or two) of wine, so prefer if we're at the MK to go to a monorail resort (even if it's counter service). It's nice to escape the crowds.

That being said, the only time I've eaten at Tony's was in 1991 or 1992 (I forget). It was awful then. Not sure if we went back in the next year - just recall spaghetti and sauce that I could have pulled from a jar would have been better. I wouldn't ever eat there again.

Nothing at BOG dinner appeals to me, so if I wanted dinner at MK I'd go to CR (easiest) and enjoy something there. I've enjoyed going to the Poly or the GF and enjoyed something at their CS places and then back to MK many times.
