After the guys just reviewed Tony's, albeit a meh review....although some praise from Pete....who was it's biggest critic, I'm considering giving it another try.....AM I CRAZY??? Last time we went was 2013 and while my meal (braised lamb shank over polenta) was very good....the rest of the family got ckn parm and spaghetti and nobody finished it...and when I went to try it....it was awful. Going for F&W in Sept...and after Pete said he saw improvement....was considering giving it another chance. Anybody been recently? Thoughts...reviews?TIA!

We avoided Tony's for a good while, based on all the bad things we had read . We have not been there with the new recent changes, but last time we ate there, we were pleasantly surprised with our meal & service. Perhaps it is just hit & miss with this place (as it is with a number of places at Disney) and we may have caught them on a good day. We may regret it, but we plan to go back at some point.

No- you're not crazy at all. We go to many restaurants that get lukewarm reviews and have been satisfied. We like H&V, Chef Mickey's, and we've had good meals at Tony's. We certainly go in with appropriate expectations to any Disney restaurant- we'll pay a lot of money and the food is usually not gourmet. But it is hot, fresh, and served with a smile efficiently!

I'm also considering it after the review for my November trip. I have always wanted to go because of the location and the theme but I couldn't pull the trigger. I'm on the deluxe plan this trip and figure if I didn't like it I'll still have plenty of food, so I'm probably going to give it a shot. I hope it's good because the Magic Kingdom can use another good eating option.

It can't hurt to give it another try. I tend to think that unless I find a restaurant dirty or the service to be down right bad, it deserves a second chance. Like mentioned previously, sometimes you catch restaurants on bad days. Sometimes the kitchen is understaffed, sometimes the wait staff experiences similar issues, I'm sure people are constantly being trained back there, so on so forth. My sis and I went in 2016 even after knowing that it didn't get great reviews and it was okay. Nothing spectacular, but certainly not as bad as it was made out to be, IMO.

I think Tony's suffers by virtue of the fact that is one of the older places to eat and as far as Italian food goes has been surpassed by several others. Nothing wrong with the food just not on the same level as others. We used to always book a meal there and it was one of our favorites. Now every time I ask the wife about it she just says noooo, lets go somewhere else. We have very fond memories of Tony's from years ago and our first time eating there which surprisingly enough was back in the early 90's when they were actually open for breakfast. The themeing, the fact that we were on some of our first trips to WDW with the kids just made it so special. Have not been there lately so I don't know but the plates and the flatware had Lady and the Tramp on them and it was just so cool. But like everything in life times have changed and the feeling is just not the same.

May have to give it another try and see if we can rekindle some of those old feelings.

Nah! We are trying it for the first time this trip. I am looking forward to it.

It's not fabulous, but I thought it was fine and this was a few years ago. I'd read reviews that said it was going to be totally horrible and I was worried about it but I'd be willing to go again if it fit my schedule. Don't go expecting authentic home-made gourmet Italian food and you'll be fine. I had a very nice salad and flatbread. I don't recall what DH had but he was fine with whatever he got. I do recall that the server was attentive and friendly.

We love Tony's, but then, we have never eaten the infamous red sauce. It seems like there is a consistent trend that people who like Tony's get dishes that do not have tomato sauce (like your lamb shank, seafood dishes, or any of the pasta dishes with wine-based sauces) and people who hate Tony's get dishes their tomato sauce (like your family's chicken parm, or the spaghetti meatballs or lasagna). I saw one entertaining threat here with increasingly horrifying descriptions of the tomato sauce, but the most memorable was that it tastes like rusty old cans.

So I say look at the menu and see if you see things you'd like to eat that do not have red sauce.

Have not been a fan of Tonys after several very bad meals there.
Now that they have a new chef, who seems to be trying to improve the food, we are considering giving it another chance.
Without the new chef, would not have considered it at all.

We ate at Tony's during the last week of this past January. I don't know if Chef Katie was already there or not, but my daughter and I enjoyed our meals very much. I had the scampi, and she had the sun dried tomato pesto cream sauce over ravioli. My husband tossed my good advice out the window and ordered the sampler thing with chicken parm, alfredo, and some other dish. He wasn't at all impressed and didn't finished his meal (totally out of character for him). I tasted his marinara and alfredo sauces and thought they were really bad. Supposedly, the marinara recipe has since changed. I hope the alfredo recipe has, as well. My daughter and I have booked Tony's again for our December girls' only trip and are looking forward to it.

Tony’s gets majorly ranked on but I have to say we had a great lunch there on our last trip. Our food was great, our server was excellent & the restaurant itself is charming & adorable. Pricey, I guess, but it’s Disney!

Reviews are just personal opinions and everyone is different. I'm not sure who you are referring to as "the guys," but I read a review the other day by somebody who is supposed to be a highly regarded Disney restaurant aficianado/reviewer (could be the same one that you are referring to, but I don't remember the website) and he didn't even know that the "theming" of Tony's was based off of Lady and the Tramp.

Look at the menu, if it's of interest to you, give it a try; you might find that it ends up being your favorite restaurant or....unfortunately, worst! You won't know until YOU try it...don't let some random internet person sway your thoughts and opinions; make your own off of your own experiences! Regardless, good or bad, you're going to be at Disney...the (hopefully!) Happiest Place on Earth!!!
