Want to see the horrible, evil, BAD project I have been working on this evening?

It was for a good cause- to raise money for charity at the office tomorrow! It was REALLY HARD to not lick the frosting off the spoons- that used to be my favorite part of baking.:p

(Okay, okay... I did lick a little. I'm figuring and journaling 2 points for a couple teensy dabs of frosting. ;) )

OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
Very nice!!!

This is why I will keep my fund raising efforts to The walk for diabetes!!! Walk 5 miles or make a cake!!!! HMMMMMMMMMMMMM Tough call!!! But the walk is better for me at the moment!!!

It is really nice Kathy!!!!

OH MY GOODNESS! Those are beautiful! -can you adopt me?- :)

I feel like Homer Simpson now...drooling and saying UMMMM CHOCOLATE!

Wow!! Kathy, those cakes are gorgeous! How long did you work on them? The strawberry one looks especially tasty!! :p

But, you know what? Those cakes look too good to eat :) Even if I could, I don't think I'd want to take a piece ... they're too pretty :jester:

WOW those are lovely cakes. All I can say is it's a good job I don't live at your house. Cake is my biggest downfall!! :D

are truly a work of art Kathy! they are gorgeous!!!

you are a very "big" person too for journaling that smack of frosting!

I love baking and I'm often called upon to make cheesecakes, maybe I've metioned before! It can be hard and I'm proud of you! It helps when you have to take that dessert somewhere and you want it to look perfect, not with a sliver out!

WOW! You did an amazing job :D. You should see the cakes that I frost, not pretty ;) :D.

OMG!! Those look scrumptuous!! Have I told you when I am especially tempted by something, I usually dream about eating it? Sweet dreams Michelle....nitey nite!!

Ya know this dieting is really working- all I can think about is biting into one of those (okay maybe 2) chocolate dipped strawberries!! Forget the cake- give me the fruit!!! :) You wouldn't miss just one of those strawberries would you? The cakes look too pretty to touch- and you did GREAT with the frosting- I can't make a batch without licking about 1/2 cup of frosting! :)

YUMMMMM!
Tara

Wow, you are so talented. Those are really beautiful. The chocolate one with the strawberries, is making my mouth drool!

Those are amazing!!!!!!!! Very Yummy looking...

However, the one on the top reminds me of a room Hilde (I think it was her) did on Trading Spaces!

OMG! That chocolate one is slamming itself on my thighs just looking at it. That reminds me! Grandma sent home her famous chocolate cake (with frosting made from lard and butter! an old recipe handed down through generations of Buckeyes) and I had 2 bites and threw out the rest! WOOO HOOOO!!!! Am I good or what? But thatlittle diddy....is that chocolate ganache I see drizzled all over? I can't stand it!!!!!!!
AAAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHHH!

I will Keep the Faith!
I will Keep the Faith!
I will Keep the Faith!

How pretty! Good for you for including those teeny dabs of frosting in your points for the day.

I hope y'all raise lots of money for your charity :)

Well, the fundraiser went really well, and the cakes were a hit!

Lately, decorating cakes feels more like an art project and less like surrounding myself with temptation. I do enjoy the creative part of putting then together. Sometimes they turn out nice, sometimes they look pretty amateurish... but the recipients don't really seem to mind when they're not gorgeous!

These weren't too bad. I probably spent 20 minutes putting the basketweave around the sides of the chocolate cake, maybe 30 minutes on the white roses, maybe 20-30 preparing and dipping the strawberries.

This was my first stab at making flowers, and I was really pleased (and surprised) with how they turned out. Some of my neighbors may find themselves receiving some "practice" decorating projects this weekend! (That's my deal with myself- I can make the cakes, but they CANNOT remain in my house afterward. They either show up as a surprise at a neighbor's door, or come in to the office to be devoured by my coworkers.)

Whew!!! I'm glad those cakes are gone now!!! I was seriously considering hopping the next plane to Texas!!

Those cakes looked so yummy, Kathy!! You have a real talent for cake decorating!! I think I'm gonna have to move to your neighborhood since they are receiving your "practice" projects!!!
