I've never had it myself, but it looks as though it's mostly toast and not so much banana. Is it dry? And does the tonga toast at Capt. Cooks differ from the tonga toast at Kona Cafe?? Just wondering... TIA :goodvibes

The bead is fresh and tasty, the Capn Cooks version does not have the fruit compote, but is otherwise the same. Delicious, we go on the monorail for this great cs at least once a trip!

It is good, but it is really sweet. It is too much for me, so we have found it works best if one person gets an egg dish and the other Tonga Toast. Then we split the dishes.

Taken a couple of weeks ago! = )

Love the Tonga Toast, we go at least twice a trip, great outdoor tropical seating, look at the picture above I'm getting hungry

I agree. It's definitely something that can be shared.

Also, the pineapple macadamia nut pancakes are delicious if you decide to go to Kona Cafe.

I do have a ressie for Kona for breakfast on our last day, and I already have my eye on the Lilikoi Juice and those pancakes! :cloud9: Also, I want to take home a bag of the Kona Blend with me. :) I want to try the Kona Press Pot, but no one else in my party likes coffee, in fact, they all HATE it, so I will just have to wait till next time to get it! Which will be two weeks later, in August! :thumbsup2 So I will stick with my Lilikoi and the Kona Blend to go. :) But for every other day, Captain Cooks will have to keep me interested.

Agreed. We actually ordered just a big plate of scrambled eggs, not on the menu at all, and they made it for us.

The press pot is just a way of making it. The coffee they serve in their normal way (the cup) IS their same Kona coffee. Nothing wrong with getting beans, of course, but don't skip out on coffee at the table just b/c you won't get the press pot.

They are usually the same quality. It's just a shame was can't have Tonga Toast a'la mode with Dole Whip on top.

actually it's not. We use 100% for the pressed pots, we use a blend if you just ask for coffee

Then your fellow server, Linda, 100% lied to us. Fabulous. And we actually started to like her, despite her stern demeanor!

mom2of2: Wow! You work at Kona?!?!? That is our all-time FAVORITE Disney restaurant!! :) We love it! And thanks for the tip! :thumbsup2

stitchon: :lmao: That would be WONDERFUL  I love me some dole whips! :cloud9:

Ive gotten it twice in my past 2 years of going.. Its never dry, the ratio of dough to banana seems to be perfect, and the strawberry compote with it is AWESOME! I get a side of ham and a pressed pot of Kona and Im ready to take over the world.

I was gonna ask about the consistency. I mean, I love bananas, but if they're too mushy then they're gross. Hope my Tonga Toast isn't like this! I'm trying it for the first time this trip!
