Hi,

Congrats & welcome home!!!

It's "official" - we're in at SSR with a July use year! Just got off the phone and our fedex package is on its way. Making plans for our first trip "home" late August.

I do have a question if anyone could help out...

How is the weather in late August in Orlando...I know hot...but how rainy? I know there's no guarantee with weather...just hoping we're not taking too big a chance with this time of year as we've never been to FL in the summer. But it's really the best time for us with son's travel baseball always having a break then. :sunny:

Thanks for the kind words and welcome!

Hi! It does tend to be a bit rainy during August. However, in 2002, we went for 9 days at the end of August and I do not think it rained more than one day and it did not spoil our plans at all. This past August 2003, however, we went the same time and it rained atleast four or five days. Some days the rain lasted for a couple of hours, heavy with lightning and of course, we could not use the pool during those times. We still had a great trip though despite the rain. From what I hear, we lucked out with the great weather we had in 2002. August does tend to be rainy and very humid. We too usually need to vacation the end of August and will continue to visit Disney then so even though it can be a rainy time of year, I would not let that stop you. There are still so many things to do inside at WDW if it should rain for a couple of hours. Also, the crowds are a little less at the end of August because some schools are back in session. That makes it more pleasant.

Congratulations and Welcome Home!!

Congratulations on your purchase an welcome home. Don't worry about those afternoon August showers. They make for a good excuse to go back to your "home" and rest so you can go back out at night. The parks are usually open fairly late in the summer.

Congratulations and Welcome Home.

We too go the last 2 weeks in August and like disgirl said, you can get rain or you can get very lucky. Last year was the first year we really had allot of rain but it didn't ruin our vacation. One day, we practically had teh MK all to ourselves. With ponchos on, we walked on every ride and had a great time.

I'm sure you will too, enjoy!!

congratulations.....but the real big day IS tommorow....Superbowl XXXVIII....GOOOOOO PATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks to all for your big welcome...we couldn't be happier! And thanks, too, for those who offered August weather posts. We will be making our late August reservations within a couple days and you've calmed some of our worries. So we'll just plan on possible rain and thunder along with the humidity! And pray for sunshine!!! As long as we're "home", we will still enjoy it more than anywhere else in the world!
