We had a fun evening at the Haunted Castle (wannabe). There was also a haunted woods.
We decided to do both.
We started with the woods.
I thought I was pretty brave, I had so much confidence. I just kept telling myself they are fake, this is all fake.
as I let Fred lead the way and I had a firm grip on the back of his shirt, causing minor choking.
Then we went in!
About 20 yards in, we had our first scary encounter. Someone was walking along with me and I didn't notice it until I looked over and he was in my face.
I shrieked, and I pee'd, a little!
So I start watching every tree, building, everywhere for a scary person. This happened to be a scout retreat, so guess who is doing the scaring?? All these little people.
I tell you what, little people in scary costumes are worse than big people. Have you ever seen Chucky or Pet Cemetary??
It was a lot of fun, not to scary. Just enough. It was about a 45 minute walk through with a maze at the end.
I forgot to mention when we got there the lines were HUGE!
BUT, there was a separate ticket you could buy to get to the front of the line. My haunted version of a Fast Pass. I loved it. Little kids and adults were giving us the "look" as we strutted past them. And for 10$ more, I definitely did strut!
And giggled.
After the woods, we went directly to the front of the line to the castle (old church).
This was horrible, I hope all haunted houses are not like this. I have nothing to compare it to. It was full of narrow hallways, steep stairs (up and down) Yes TY, it had the crawl spaces. But there was nothing scary to it AT ALL.
We did have to get into a coffin twice. The first time was an upright one that both Fred and I had to get into together. Then they latch you closed. Spin you into another room. That wasn't so bad.
Later in our adventure we went into another room, this time the coffins were on the floor. The people in front of us got in, they closed it, hit a button, opened the lid and they were gone

!
Bout this time I am getting a wee bit nervouse. Are we going to get dropped into something? Am I going to hell?
We get in, they close the lid. We start sliding. I have my eyes closed in the fetal position. I remember saying "what the ----is going to happen to us"?
I open my eyes, Fred is standing there with a friend of ours and the are laughing at me. There is another little scary dude looking down at me.
Ha ha funny. It was only like a 4 foot drop.
I think that was the scariest thing in there. I started screaming in parts where I think they wanted us to be scared.
Just because.
All in all it was a fun night. We don't get out with friends like we should, so that was nice. I think next year I'd like to do some more.
I am feeling a bit braver. I just need to wear a depends or drink nothing 8 hours before going.
I am missing the kids being little right now. I LOVED taking them trick or treating. Now, we do nothing. I live in the boonies so no one even stops by for candy.
I guess maybe we will have our own little party. Order pizza, make caramel apples??
OH, see the ticker below!!

Oh ya baybee!!
