Can someone tell me what this is? Is it something new? I grew up in FL. and frequented MK but never even heard of this. I did read a small review about it but it didn't say much. Is it worth seeing? I have two girls..ages 6 and newly 3. Is it ok for them? Thanks.

You take a short raft ride over to the island. There are a number of things to do over there. A couple of cave, a small playground, barrell bridge to name a few. There is also a fort accessibe from a suspension bridge.

It is a god way to kill some time while waiting for your fast pass windows to open up for either SplMtn or BTMRR.

I find it a relaxing break from the crowds in the park.

It always a must do for us, it is nice to escape from a crowded MK, and relax a little bit on the island, we love looking at the cave and our favorite is the barrel bridge....

We always love this relaxing spot. On our last trip, my grandson's first, it was not open. :sad2: Can't wait to go this summer. :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

No, it isn't new. I remember going there as a young child in the early 80s and I loved playing there. Now my DH *acts* like a young child and loves playing there. :teeth:

If you've ever taken the riverboat or one of the old Mike Fink Keel Boats, you have been around the island.

I have such fond memories of TSI as a kid! It is one of few places in WDW that a parent can let an older kid just run around and explore while they have a rest!

It's pretty new. It opened up last year when they installed the new Skyway ride between Tomorrowland and Fantasyland.

Don't forget to search for the hidden paintbrushes! We found one on our trip last year and our whole party was given a "Go To The Front Of The Line" pass for any of the Mountain rides! :sunny:

Gotta Get To Disney! :moped:

We let our 4 year old burn off some of the pent up "standing in line" frustration there last year. He got scared in one of the caves, however, so keep that in mind. They aren't big or anything like that, he just decided it was too dark and he wanted out NOW. :)

It's a great place to relax, lots of shade and if Aunt Polly's is open you can get a cool drink and snack while sitting by the water.

Yep, TSI is not new. It has been there since the park opened in 1975! However, it has been closed from time for refurb. It is a great time to get a break from the "crowds" and explore caves and relive the adventures of Tom Sawyer!

Hey, I miss the skyline chair lifts!

The Island and the park opened in 1971. And is it under refurb now or do you just mean that sometimes it is closed? We were just on the island last month. DH and his friend had to run all over it! :rotfl2:
