It's been a while. What are the latest toll amounts from MCO to Disney? We will take the exit by the Gaylord. Need to make sure I have enough quarters for three trips the first night! FL hasn't aligned with EZ PASS, right?

Thanks!

I'm interested in this information as well. Renting car at MCO (Orlando) and still hoping to be able to pay cash (or with) credit card without having to rent the toll reader from the rental car company.

Just buy a Sunpass transponder and you won't have to worry about tolls any more.

Maybe if I was in Florida more then once every few years! :thumbsup2

I went last August and don't play on returning and I bought one. It was only $4.99. Cheaper than what the rental car companies were charging.

Florida does not accept the EZ Pass system used in the northeast quadrant of the US, or vice versa.

Florida also offers a stick on Sun Pass, sold in some convenience stores, that you peel off and discard after you go home (or before you return the rental ca).

for the record

Florida is participating in a program to make all these electronic toll programs cooperate.

Florida recently sent me new transponders as a step in this program . . .

From MCO to Pop Century Resort I think I went through 4 tolls. Most of the tolls were $1 but one may have been $1.25. The last tolls was on the exit I took and that was .75 cents (exact change only). I live in Oregon so all the tolls was a surprise to, especially so many tolls on the same stretch if road.

Pray God that make Idiot proof. Because I will be person holding up toll booth and all cars blowing there horn. Trying figure out work it. Plus pretty sure they will not have human there either. Had trouble figuring out that suppose throw money in the basket. We do not have toll booths where I live at.

They will remove all of the toll booths sooner or later. They will collect all of the tolls with transponders and license plate readers.

Like on the map above (southern route), last week we paid $1.50, $150, and 75¢ to get off for Coronado springs (I know we drove right by the Gaylord, I think it is the Osceola Pkwy exit we took)

Or, bring along your GPS (or download the app on your phone) and set it for no tolls. The difference in mileage between MCO and GF is less than 3 miles.

This is the option we set when we drive down to Miami , there are a lot of cashless tolls down there already. I think you will find the option in the "route settings" in the GPS, mine has something like "avoid toll roads". Check this off and the GPS will plan the route without toll roads.

I love the map Capt_BJ - that will be included in my cost estimates for our upcoming trip in May. I have been researching to make sure we can still pay cash between the MCO airport and Disney and this thread has been helpful!

I know that eventually they will move to electronic tolls but I am really hoping it's not for a while! I can't stomach the thought of $6.99+ a day for a toll reader on a rental car when we would only need it between the airport and Disney. :sad2:

When Orlando shifts to electronic-only toll collection, my hope is that it will be possible to order a moveable toll paying thing that I can use in any rental car as needed. Or maybe it's possible now....never paid any attention since, as a visitor, I just make sure to have a bunch of quarters with me. I will not be acceding to the rental companies' extortionate toll fees; that much I do know. :drive:

That's what seashore was talking about earlier:

I perused the instructions for the mini-transponder at the Sunpass website. It's a step in the right direction, but it looks like the cheapest version is $14.99 plus tax which is a lot more than the roundtrip toll to/from the airport now. And the site talks about cleaning the windshield adhesion spot with window cleaner or alcohol wipes or something, then you have to get rid of the residue after you remove the thing, then wipe the windshield again.....yecch. I can tell where that's going: the rental agent sees a little dot of leftover adhesive and says, "Uh oh, there's damage to the windshield! We'll debit the repair bill from your credit card." :crazy2:

Where did see that is was $14.99?? I only paid $4.99. There is no need to clean the window. The car I rented had multiple spots of sticker residue so it seems like many are buying the stickers.
