Is there a toll free number for calling to book extras like Pirates cruise? I have been trying all week, have spent never less than 20 minutes on hold, and quite frankly am getting a little ticked off. This is ridiculous - it is costing me quite a bit in international long distance rates and they're about to lose the money I was going to spend.

That's crazy! And quite frankly, I think very sad they don't offer one.
Well, most toll-free numbers are for domestic callers only, and in the age of cell phones where no one pays by the minute anymore, a lot of companies don't bother having them anymore. OP, how about using a calling card to call, or temporarily turn on international calling on your mobile plan - it may be worth the savings of per-minute charges.

And every time they had one for some specific reason , people would find out and use it for all sorts of other reasons. They would get rid of that number and soon people would figure out another one. Now they have none.

And as the poster said, they were for domestic calls anyway.

Most toll-free numbers I'm aware of are for domestic and international callers. And not everyone has a cell phone only. Millions of people still have land lines, and those millions still have to pay by the minute for long-distance calls, especially if you don't live in the US. I'm just amazed that they don't offer one considering the amount of international tourists they have.

At any rate, that's fine :) Their choice. But they just lost this family's money for one of their extras.

I don't think they need to. People gladly call, wait for hours on hold, and do it all on their own dime.

Good for them - I think they're nuts, LOL. But, that said - with the money Disney makes each year, they shouldn't be making their customers who are paying exorbitant prices, do that.

Sure -- if everyone stopped calling the 407-WDW-XXXX numbers, they'd probably wonder why, and probably investigate turning on a few toll-free numbers.

But toll-free only means "toll-free" to the caller, not to the host -- they still pay per-call charges for each call coming in -- money spent paying for calls from the whole spectrum of people interested in WDW.

But how many of those calls are actually to book lodging, packages or dining? And (beancounter mode) why should WDW pay for people who are just calling to change their dining reservations, cancel their hotel room, or just ask costly questions like "do I have a pin code against my name?"

I have a landline, too, and I have free long distance on that as well. I do use it to call internationally to Europe and Canada because it's only 2 cents per minute.

Toll-free numbers cost an exorbitant amount for domestic calls. Even when I worked for an international shipping company where 75% of our business came from outside of the US, we did not provide toll-free calling for those clients. Can you imagine the markup Disney would pass on to tourists if they did?

Where are you op? Google will let you call USA/Canada for free. I've used this numerous times.
