Toilet height

What toilet height should I get?

  • Keep the 16 1/2

  • Return it and get the 15 1/2

  • I don't have a clue about toilet height either!

We got the American Standard one that said that claims you can flush down a whole basket of golf balls! Ok, we're going to keep the taller toilet. Thanks everyone!!!!

We got one like that. I swear, it will flush just about anything!

Who would have thought buying a toilet would be so darn complicated?!?!!?

Our house bathroom toilet is not working well at all and we are finally getting a new one- woohoo! (Sad that I am excited about that.) I found the one I wanted and bought it but now I am rethinking the height. Our current one is only 14 1/2 and I think a bit too low. (That is also the height of the two other ones in the house that are not being replaced.) The one I bought is 16 1/2. But then I was in another store and saw the same one but in 15 1/2. Now I am thinking I should maybe get the 15 1/2 one instead.

A little background on my family in case it helps- DH and I are average height. We have two small kids who use the potty- 2 1/2 and 5. We will still have two 14 1/2 toilets in the house.

Will we REALLY notice the difference? Should I go back and get the 15 1/2 one instead and return the 16 1/2 one? Any opinions and insights would be appreciated! Thanks!

We had to replace a toilet in BR#2 when I dropped my phone in there and it got stuck ( funniest story of my life). My husband brought home a 15 1/2 inch and I LOVE IT!!!!.

So when we did a major redo of BR#1 hubby decides he wants a 16 1/2 inch. Personally I like that one better.

With your kids being so young ( for only so long) I go with the 15 1/2. I doubt you'd regret it.

Do you happen to have a Menards near you? That is where we got ours from. Just checking on line, they have 12 that are listed at 17.25 in height.

I live in the heart of Menards country so I will have to check them out again. I haven't looked in a while. Thanks!:goodvibes

Keep the new, taller one. That's "chair height" and it is easier for anyone you might have visit who has mobility issues. It's nice to have at least one restroom that you can steer grandparents and visitors to....

This is my vote, too. Reasons are exactly the same!

You will LOVE the higher toilet if you ever hurt your back. The kids will get used to it. Build a small long step if you are concerned about their height now. This way - their feet can touch. I think they'll love it with or without the step.

Keep the toilet. Soon you will see everyone running for that one - because it's more comfortable.

BTW - Our toilets are both 17 inches high. We LOVE them! :thumbsup2

How funny that this got posted on Friday. My brother called me that evening wanting to know if I wanted to go shopping with him for new toilets. He just got into his new house Thursday and he already hates the toilets. :lmao:

He wants someone else opition. I think we will be fine on the height, but he perfers round, while I like oblong ones. Seeing as he's moved back home after 17 years away, I'll be more than happy to go shopping with for whatever it is he wants to shop for.

Ever stop at the Fla welcome center on US 231? The handicap toilet was put in by a midget.

Just what have you been eating? :rotfl2::rotfl2:

And everyone should not forget: Don't get a toilet so tall the dog can't drink out of it.
