My DD was a-okay with the characters when she was under 3 years old. From 3-4 she was afraid of all the characters, even the "face" characters like the princesses. When she was 4 1/2 she began to warm back up to the face characters and Mickey and Minnie. Chip and Dale were still too scary. The last two trips she was 5 (yes, we go a lot!) she will meet every character except Goofy and the villians. She met Santa Goofy at AK, but he was sitting down. He's way too tall for her when he stands up.

Good luck!

Connor, who is 2, is very scared of them. A couple of weeks ago we went to a b-day party at Toys R Us and he hid under the table from Geoffry the giraffe, lol.
Evan, 4, is not scared of them anymore but at 2 he was.

Avery loved them this past October. She is 3. I thought she might be scared, but she went right up to all of them and loved giving them the autograph book.

Before we left I let her watch a couple of Disney movies that she had not seen before. She was familiar with Mickey and Pooh, but not the princesses, etc. I think that helped her that she knew them from the movie. She kept talking about meeting Cinderella. :D
