DD will be 18 months at her 1st trip to the world this December. What great souvenir ideas do you have? If she falls in love with a stuffed animal she may have one, but she already has so many and they just seem to take up room and collect dust. I would love to get her something really special.

TIA!

I'd go for some embroidered mickey ears with her name on them. Have fun!

If she falls in love with a stuffed animal, you could bring a special pen that writes on fabric and have all of the characters sign her stuffed animal. I've done it before and it definitely makes for a special memory. :cutie:

on our first visit (when DS was 20 months) I bought him a sweatshirt (at the dump shop behind Muppets at MGM, of all places) that said "my first disney trip" and it had all of the major characters on it. I bought it big on purpose and he was able to wear it for quite a long time. He loved to point at all the characters on the shirt and name them. Even now at age 4, he is still totally in love with all things Disney. :)

My grandson collected those light-up toys that spin, he still loves them, we have replaced the batteries quite a few times.

I would suggest something for the future, start a collection to give when the child is older, we got my grandson a christmas ornament from the Christmas Shoppe in DTD, personalized, since we were in Disney on his 2nd B-day, got him the Happy B-day one w/ his name and the date. Plan on getting him one everytime we go, hopefully when he get's older and married he will have all these as momentos of Grandma & Grandpa...

We got him the "First trip" pin they give away, which is a great souvenir in and of itself, then a CM got tickled by something he said and gave him a little Mickey pin, so we bought him a pin lanyard with the year patterned into the fabric to put them on. Also Mickey ears with his name, and I kept the plastic Mickey head that came attached to the balloon we bought him and affixed it to my keyring. He loves Mommy's "Mickey Keys".

Last year I made a sort of "ScrapStocking" for him for Christmas with the idea that we will affix items commemorative for each year to it. I bought a very tiny Mickey Head pendant to sew onto his stocking.

Lastly, one of those squishy pillow Micky Mouse things. It looks like a round ball with hands and feet...he fell in love with it though it's not my fave thing.

We got DD the embroidered ears as a keepsake as well. She's not allowed to play with them! I also have started a gold charm bracelet for her, so I got a gold charm for her.

We got her some "stuff" that she wanted for fun. Go by what your dd likes...my dd loves all her stuffed animals and plays with them daily!

For DD 2, I didn't want anything she would get bored with, lose, or tear up. Sure didn't want anything she would outgrow. So I got her an adoreable Princess picture frame that we put a picture of me, DH, and DD in. It is so cute. Has the princesses attached to it like figurines. I figure she can always use it in her bedroom and update the pic if she wants with each trip.

Our DD2 loves the Mr. Potato Head we made for her at MouseGears in Epcot. You take a potato head and decorate it w/what pieces you want and then fill the back w/extra pieces. Also - she loves her princess bath toys - I got these put in her basket by Betsy but I also saw some in the stores. There are 6 in the package - they're about 6 inches high - easy to grasp. Of course she loves her Minnie ears as well! Have fun.

The Ears - a "Must"

We get my DD a mini mickey every year she that she has been there. Since she turned one she has been every year. The mickey is designed for the current year. It usually has the year on the bottom of his foot. We keep them on the shelf in her room.

She also gets to pick out a pin for her lanyard. We also get her one if we are down for a special thing (her birthday, x-mas)

Sometimes I think the things that we get her are more for us. At this age I believe they do not understand the whole concept of collecting. She collects rocks from places we go but she does not know why she does.

All in all let your DD pick out what she wants. If it is a stuffed animal she will remember where it came from and will love it. This is coming from someoone that told DW the DD was not aloud to get more than 2 stuffed animals this last trip but came home with 8 because she said that is really what she wanted, she did not want a shirt or hat. (already has ears)

Oh yah if you do the patato head "DO NOT get the patato" it takes up room in the box and all of the Disney pieces fit the normal patato.

My DD got a very, very full box of Mr. Potato Head parts, some stuffed animals -- Nemo was a very big hit with her, and my Mom (Grandma to her ;) ) bought her some very sparkly pink sneakers. They are now her favorite shoes and she would wear them everywhere if she could. I didn't find any clothing that I liked more in the resorts than I could get at our local Disney Store, especially when it goes on sale, so we stayed away from clothing. I just couldn't shell out $15-$20 for a t-shirt when I knew I can get them on sale for $5 or less...

A Christmas ornament would be great. Also, pick a spot that you are pretty sure won't change over the years (Walt statue or something) and take a picture. Then each time you return take a picture in the same spot. OVer the years (and many trips) you can compare them. We do this every year at home on the first day of school.

We just got back from taking my 21 month old DD. :cutie:

We got her the "My First" pink Micky ears and got her name embroidered on back.

We stopped at City Hall and got her the free "1st Visit" button.

We also let her pick out one of the "baby" stuffed animals and she chose Minnie (wrapped in a pink blanket).

She was too little this time to really care either way and it was all mostly for my memories. I would have bought a million more souvenirs if it were up to me!

We came home with a lot on our first trip. We bought the ears, Mr. Potato head pieces, and a sterling silver charm with the year on it.

This year we will get more Potato head pieces (dd loves it) and another silver charm. And more I'm sure! :yay:

The kids each get a t-shirt each visit and pick a pin. We don't trade pins, we collect them. We have them from all the hotels we have stayed at, and the kids get to pick their own that goes in the book. They usually pick a ride pin.

Both DS and DD got light chasers when they were little. DS is now 10 and his doesn't work anymore, but it did for a long time. DD (3) got hers last year and she still plays with it.

DS got Mickey ears with his name on it on his first trip, we still have it. DD got a build your own princess crown. She wears it sometimes when she plays dress up.

We also have the Mickey potato head and WDW parts. They play with those together.

My DD3 went for her second trip when she was 18 months old.Her favorite souvies were a light up spinny Mickey and Princess minnie plush. She also got her ears when she was 13 mths old.She still plays with the Mickey spinner and minnie plush.:thumbsup2
