How do you let your boss know you won't be in. My boss and I decided on texting

As far as I know we still have to call in. I haven't been off in a long time tho. We have a form to fill out for vacation requests and email that.

Usually an email because I can put a read receipt on it and know he got it.

I text my co worker first that will be affected by my calling off work, to let her know so she wouldn't worry about me.

Then I text my boss.

he normally text back begging me to come in

I say I cannt

then he tells me to feel better soon.

the next morning he normally calls me, he is such a nag.

I work in a hospital, so I have to call, speak to a supervisor, and answer their nosy questions. It's such a hassle it discourages us all from taking bogus days off.

Always email. My boss gets upset if I leave a voicemail cause he won't get the message until he gets in.

We have a central number we call and let the clerk know who we are and that we are calling off sick or FMLA (out of 10 people on my shift 9 of us have FMLA and the other person is in the process of getting it!).

I would love a smart phone can't afford (sp) it though but my dumb phone takes care of my needs

We are required to call our supervisor and notify her by speaking to her. Texting, emailing, leaving a voice mail, or a message on an answering machine is not a valid option for us. If we are unable to speak directly to our supervisor, we are to call up the chain of command until we find a live human to actually speak to. This goes for if we are running late or going to be out.

If we fail to do so, we will be disciplined according to the policy (and believe me, we have a written step by step, policy for EVERYTHING ).
