On October 10, 1911, revolutionaries under Sun Yat-sen overthrew China's Manchu dynasty.

On October 10, 1943, Chiang Kai-shek took the oath of office as president of China.

On October 10, 1970, Fiji became independent after nearly a century of British rule.

On October 10, 2001, President George W. Bush released a list of 22 most-wanted terror suspects, including Osama bin Laden.
