Good Morning everyone. I'm a little early with this as I have a rather lengthy meeting to attend at 10:30. I've also included some historical facts from yesterday, so here goes.

On January 1, 1863, President Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation declaring the slaves in rebel states were free.

On January 1, 1892, Ellis Island Immigrant Station in New York formally opened.

On January 1, 1959, Fidel Castro led Cuban revolutionaries. to victory over Fulgencio Basitsta.

On January 2, 1788, Georgia became the 4th state to ratify the U.S. Constitution.

On January 2, 1929, the United States and Canada reached agreement on joint action to preserve Niagara Falls.

On January 2, 1935, Bruno Hauptmann went on trial in Flemington, N.J. on charges of kidnapping and murdering the infant son of Charles and Anne Lindbergh. (Hauptmann was later found guilty and executed)

Very interesting, Kathy.

I'm so glad Canada and the US decided to preserve Niagara Falls, it's a beautiful place.

Thanks for doing this :)
