To those with MEGA points....

We are the proud owners of 700 points, soon to be 850 if that blasted CRV is ever announced! It is just hubby and me so we often will treat friends and relatives. This fall we are taking 8 relatives to Vero in a beach cottage and an Inn room for a couple of days and then on to BWV in a GV and studio for the remainder of the week. We intend to take full advantage of the F&W Festival
Last year we brought my Dad and Step-mother down for a long weekend in a 2 bedroom at SSR. It was a fabulous trip; we got to see all the Christmas decorations and went to MVMCP. Daddy said it was the best vacation he ever had. My typical trips are a long weekends (Thursday-Monday or Tuesday) one at Boardwalk in May for the flower festival, October for F&W again at BW, one in Dec for the Christmas lights and then a week in January at SSR just because. Any extra points are banked for a family outing the following year. Next winter I may stay Sunday to Friday in a one-bedroom, check into the Hilton using hubby's hotel points for the weekend, check back into another villa for the following 5 days and so on until the points are gone. I think I can get three weeks that way and still have my long weekends. It takes some planning but its worth it. We also would like to be able to stay for an extended period but the fees make that improbable. I did call and ask how long I could stay and I believe they told me you had to check out once every 30 days. Not a bad deal but only a dream at this point. I never get tired of the place, its a dream come to true to be an owner and I love every minute of it!

Here's wishing I had more points

We have 300 points and I have to keep myself from calling my guide everyday to add on. We never seem to have enough. Partly because we have become two bedroom snobs and tend to take family and friends with us.

We too have 300 and I would love another 100. I am sure that would soon be NOT ENOUGH too though.

I would love to add at least another 50-75 though seriously.

I am getting the worst case of add-on-itis reading this thread! I really really NEED ( ) 200 more points. Will the next incentive be even better than the current one? Why are points so addictive?

This entire DVC thing is so addictive. I spend way too much time on here at times. I want more points.....waiting to see what the next deal will be. If it is double developer I am all over that deal.

You can do double developer points now, it is not advertised. You dont get the $8/$10 discount per point as the trade off. What you get is the advertised special and then matching points for the points you buy. So if I bought 200 points I would get 270 developer points plus 200 matching points. This is actually more than double. I would also get my 2007 points and then my 2008 points would come to me on Dec. 1st. Tempting isn't it!!??

Buy 110 get 110 matching plus 100 developer so you get 210 "extra" points or a little better than double points.

yes - it ends on Feb. 18th. My guide called to day to see if we had made a decision b/c he was going out of town until Monday. You would get your points for 2007 and then you would get your next 110 on Oct. 1st.

I guess that this really depends on the situation. Lots of people have had struggles with the logisitics of the developer points b/c they dont show up on the website etc. We did the double developer points for our last add-on in August and we had no probs using them. We booked a cruise with them and the cash value of the cruise was much greater than the "lost discount" from paying full retail for the points.


I would not do the developer points unless you really have a use for them as it is not really worth the "lost discount" to just use these points to make a weekend ressie etc. If we do the 200 point addon we would have 470 developer/matching points to play with and that can get us an extra trip to WDW plus a trip to DL or HHI. Therefore that would be worth it for us. If we were only going to use them to extend our current WDW ressies then there would not be as much value.

We would bank our 07 points to our 08 UY and then we would start 08 with over 700 points (total point count with our other contracts) which would net us a few really good trips next year.

I wonder how people have that much time available to use all those points/take all those vacations. We have 300 points and, although we'd love to add on, the reality is that DH just doesn't have the vacation time to use more points.

we do family vacations with our 2 daughters, husbands, and 5 grand children.
We usually get a two bedroom and a single. This April we are using all 3 years to do a 7 day cruise..They are paying for the kids. (right)
But we have 3 cabins and the points paid for the adults. Two Cat 10 and one 11..( we are on deck 6 they are on deck 4). We have friends meet us and my dad and step mom come for a few days too.

We have used the points for us to go (alone) for a week to Squaw valley at Lake Tahoe, Ca for a week. (great place) we went gold mining and dune buggies in the desert.

Our points are with BCV and SSS. Beach club is the greatest pool. Its hard to get up to do the parks once you get to the pool.

Next year we hope to do AKV around Christmas.
Once the sons have families we will have to add more points or allocate years.

We purchased the points for the grandkids...So we could take them, then the daughters decided they wanted to come.

Unless the rules have suddenly changed you can't bank the dev. points. You have 12months to use or lose. You can bank the 2007 points that you would get with your purchase.

can bank just the purchased ones, no banking the matched points. if you use the developer/match points for this current year and bank the purchased points then you "saved" a years worth of points and will be way ahead for next year.

You can not bank developer points, they are a use them or lose them scenerio.

I talked to my guide today. If we add 110 points, we get 100 developer points, 110 points from 2007 and 2008 points. We have a Oct use year, so we would bank the 2007 points and use the developer points. The promotion ends Feb 18th and there is a price increase coming in March.

Thanks everyone for your responses. I was just curious as to what ya'll did with those points. We only have 170 points. We go one 1-2 week trips a year and sometimes have to bank points. I can't even imagine MEGA points!!!
I love DVC
