To those with MEGA points....

We have 855 points. I just added up our April'08 - January'09 "used" point total, and it's 1157, with a few nights needed to be added at the seven month window. We have 2 "all family vacations" this year. Next year we're cutting back to 1 "all family" trip which will include a 3 night DCL. The cruise is not on points.

We want to vacation with family, including 3 DGC as much as we can. I read another thread here, about the trip to Aruba on points, and I will be looking into something like that as an option.

We have 2000 points and have since our first purchase in 92. Did it all at once. Glad we did. We could not imagine trying to keep track of different contracts. We use ALL of our points every year! We are currently at OKW and we use them also for cruises. I think at one time we figured out we could stay almost 6 months in a studio at OKW.

We have only 670 points, but with banking we managed to book 1,094 points in our Mar 2008 UY.

Strangely, you always find a way to use all the points you have, no matter how many you have! That happens with money too...

Wow - that is awesome! I have never "met" anyone with that many points. I have heard of one member who bought 3000 at one time but have not encountered anyone with that many on the DIS.

I would be so curious as to know the average "stage of life" for DVC members. Has there been a poll on that? Something along the lines of....twenty and thrity somethings with young children stage, children have left home but we still work stage, retired stage, etc.

Enjoy those points! :goodvibes

We bought in 92. I was 39, almost 40 and dh was 43. We have 3 children, back then they were 16,9,& 7. Now we are 55, almost 59, and kids are 31, 24, and 21. The 31 dd is married and has 2 sons. We are still working. We still send my parents down here for a week usually in October but last year they went on a cruise instead. We come down for the 500. Younger kids come down for still Spring break and all 3 of them did their college Spring breaks here. We've done family cruises with points, getting 4 rooms. We go to Vero. Going to start spreading our wings and going other places now. Youngest one graduates from college this Spring. It really has been the best thing we ever did. And again dh decided to do it all in one contract. When we bought there had been only 1 other with 2000 points. We could buy more but we find 2000 is fine. DH wanted to make sure that our children and their children always had a place to come. We've had really great trips here. (some mousekeeping issues from time to time, but I get over it)

DS met his best friend here when they were kids and they ended up being college roommates and are still best friends. We try to meet up with his parents when we are down. He goes with them and their son meets us. It really was a special place to come to early on. Most of the members knew each other and we had some great times. We knew all the cast members who worked here (and they knew us by name) and we would have cook outs with them, go out to dinner, play golf. Some took our kids to the parks. We still keep in touch with some of them even though now they are married, with their own children living in other parts of the country. Now it is so big that the closeness that used to be here isn't anymore. We miss that.

Thank you for taking the time to post! We are 39 (me) and 44 (DH) and have 3 children of similar ages to yours. We cant do 2000 points right now but we do tend to treat WDW as our "vacation home" with the points that we do have plus a few cash trips. We also own a real vacation house in the NC mountians and we much prefer the simplicity of DVC over the concerns of owning a "brick and mortar" home. I keep teading Dh that we should sell the NC house to buy tons and tons of points so that we can be in FLA several months a year! :goodvibes

We have the same thing going on, but its property in Myrtle Beach.

yack, the database went haywire and lost my post!

Anyway, we spend about 8-10 nights per year at our house in NC. I will not even think about calculating that per night cost!! We spend about 21 days a year on Disney property so I would love to have more points. I know that owning the NC house has many benefits but I would still rather sell it and buy a few thousand points!! :goodvibes

Yea, I'd sell the NC home and buy tons of points..:goodvibes Just think of what you can do with them. In NC you have to prepare the place when you get there, make sure you have towels, sheets, etc., then make sure everything is closed up when you leave. Then be worried about if anything happens, how fast can you get there, etc....Does that help you with dh??

Between November 07 and Sept 08 we will have spent 41 nights on property using our DVC points :goodvibes
Its amazing how far those points can spread.....................(we own 177!)
Always tempted to buy more though ;)

This is my exact point to DH! The silly man gives me all kinds of excuses like real estate appreciation, tax dedeuctions, etc, etc, etc ;)

The next time he has to get up in the middle of the night and drive to NC b/c a pipe has burst in 8 degree temps, I will remind him of how great it would be for DVC to be taking care of that kind of junk!! :goodvibes

Lol, that's what I mean! I don't know why these silly men think they are smarter than us!:thumbsup2
Just think how much he will save though on insurance, a new roof, mowing the property, snow removal (if you get snow). We get the tax deduction in PA though..
