To those that got the free dining PIN...

Ours was booked at POP but it looks like we may have to move. They say all the POP rooms allocated for the free dining pin are booked. According to a CM they sent out 9 million pins and rooms are going fast.

I can't imagine 9 million pins going out and not get one!!!!

Nope. I had been looking but nothing booked. Could have used it last year. This year we are only going for a few days:sad1:

Did anyone get a FD pin that they don't need?? :rotfl:

But seriously!
Also, can FD be used on a DVC reservation? Thanks!

We got the free dining pin code as well:goodvibes But it's not good for our dates. :wizard: I'm crossing my fingers they will send something out for October:worship: Oh, and the email account that I got the pin code in hasn't been used in a long time. I thought that was odd :goodvibes

I never get PINs, but finally got the free dining PIN for 4/23-8/13 yesterday. It was sent to my email, but has my DH's name on the "To:" line! He hasn't gone with us since 2000!

We did not have a reservation made for any of that time, nor have we priced or saved a reservation for anything within those dates.

Free dining rarely comes out cheaper for us, as we book deluxe - the room only rates are almost always cheaper. However, I wondered, if I had wanted to use it, would DH have to be a guest on the reservation? He doesn't like WDW, won't go with us, so that would forfeit the PIN, I'm guessing.:headache:

I'm not even sure why I'm irritated, as we hadn't planned a summer trip this year, anyway.:rotfl: It just figures that my DH, who won't go no matter WHAT the incentive, got the silly thing.

I called on Feb. 28 to use my "percentage off room" pin before it expired. When I told the cm she said "but this is for free dining". I told her no that it said in my email that it was for a percentage off. She said she would look again and then she said "Oh, your right, it is for a room discount". I reserved just one night at a deluxe with the percentage off discount and had planned to call the next day to make the rest of our reservations at a value resort. I had planned to do the kids stay and play free discount but when I called to reserve that (March 1) I asked if I happened to have any free dining pins and she said yes! So I am thinking the free dining pins were already attached to my name when I called the first time but since it was before March 1 they weren't allowed to say it yet?

Last year I booked in June for a Nov trip, got a FD pin in July and added it.

This year, I booked 2 weeks ago for Dec with a % off room pin, then yesterday, my hubby and I both get FD pins, but only thru august.

If they send a FD pin for our Dec Dates, I will definetly switch to that one!

I always make reservation under my name, and I always receive Pins under my husband name, who is list as guest 2 on my reservations...

Hi all!

We will be staying at CSR from April 23 to May 1 (Easter week). We booked last August. After months of receiving pins that don't cover my dates, I finally got the free dining plan pin yesterday and it covers my dates!!! :cool1:

Sadly, my excitement was short lived! I called and they said that I could indeed get the free dining, however... the "special offer" was sold out at CSR. They said I could keep calling back in case they get cancellations at the "special" rate; but they would not let me apply the pin to my existing reservation??? Is this normal?

I could have gotten the free dining deal at several other resorts, but not at CSR. I would save $1300 by switching to CBR or I could even upgrate to WL and still save $100. But our heart is set on CSR.

Any advice? What are the odds that the rate will open up at CSR?

So disappointing. ***sigh***

What a bummer!! Yes, there is usually a specific allotment of rooms for any special offer like that. Keep trying, or make a new favorite resort!!

Did you already have your trip booked? I was just speculating on how they are sending the PINs out. :)

Maybe they are getting the PINs to people who already have a trip booked first? Although that doesn't make any sense... They should be trying to get people who haven't booked yet to do so! lol

I booked my trip about 4 wks ago with a 40% code. Then I heard about the free dining code on this boards. So I called tonight to find out if I had a FD code. I did NOT receive an email, but thought I'd try my luck @ calling. CM told me that it does not matter if you already booked your trip or not, nothing to do with getting or not getting another code. He checked and said, "Good news, you DO have the FD pin, bad news is it expires Aug 13th." I'm leaving Aug 22nd.

even though people say "I had a reservation at "such and such" resort, and when free dining came out, (or a room code, etc), they just added it, this isn't technically true.

for any discount there is a seperate block of rooms, and only so many rooms in that block. so having a reservation at a resort ahead of time does not guarantee you one at that resort if a discount comes out (free dining, buy 4, get 3 free, whatever)
many times there are rooms open, so people Do get it, and they leave the same reservation number. then people post here saying that you can "just" add it on, no problem.
when the discount comes out (or pin), the available rooms for that discount are first come, first served.

if I were you, I would go ahead with CBR, for that great amount of savings. we like both resorts. of WL, for a small amount of savings, and you get a deluxe resort!

First of all, I never receive a pin, but we take a trip to WDW every year! This year we are going elsewhere, so I haven't even looked at Disney stuff! Well in my email this past week to my surprise, there was a pin code for Free Dining! Guess they are missing me!!!:lmao:

Yes, I booked a trip in December that included free dining for September. I received a pin code for free dining as well a few days ago.

I've been reading about all the Pins coming out, mostly for FD, and I'm curious about the people who call to see if they have anything attached to their name. Can you do that only if you've gone to disney before? I'm planning our very first trip to disney for next year and I was wondering if I can call to see if anything is there once I'm ready to book, or because I'm not a past guest, should I even bother?

Go ahead and call! You don't have to have been there in previous years to be able to check to see if you have a PIN. :)

lol You are so right. Though pin offers are sent totally at random. I must get that question ten times a day. :goodvibes

I would call nothing to lose, my Dmil gets pins all the time via snail mail and she has never been to WDW and has never even used a computer so I know she has not been on their site. I think she lives in a targeted area and that Disney must maybe use address lists at times?

anyhow good luck
