Advice needed ..DGS 5 a very big boy butm still only 5 I'm sure he will get tired before the end of the dayso a stroller is a good idea but here.s the question To rent a hard park stroller orbuy a heavy duty jogging stroller for about $80. How awkward will a jogger be on the busversus a hard park stroller Help please

I have never rented a WDW stroller, but I hear wonderful things about them. They apparently push so smoothly.

As far as buying a jogging stroller, I am too much of a cheapskate to spend $80 on a rental or purchase of a stroller. I would just buy an umbrella stroller with a taller handle for the $15. That was what we did last year for our 4 year old. We used it all week and gave it to a lucky family when were done. I can't see spending $80 for a 5 year old. Plus the umbrella stroller collapses so easily for the trams.

Either way you go, do not go without. It is too much walking for a 5 year old.

When DS was 6 we rented the stroller and it was great. I would do that rather than spend the $80 on a stroller unless you'll be using it again.

Our plan is to rent the stroller for DS who will be six. If for no other reason than to keep people from running him over!;)

Last Oct we were in WDW and we took our umbrella stroller. For the last few days at WDW we decided to try renting a WDW just to test it out.

Boy did we blow it early on in the trip!!!

We should have been renting from the start!!

IT was so much nicer not to have to worry about folding up the stroller and packing it onto a fully loaded bus. It was MUCH easier to carry kids onto the bus and carry them off than dealing with the stroller.

When we go next time we will bring the umbrella stroller, but mainly for ease of use in the airports, once we get to a park we will just rent them.

Related note: you can no longer rent for an extend period of time correct? You have to rent each day? I know something has changed since my last trip but cant remember what that is. Last time we rented for 10 days upfront.

Yeah last October we rented on each indvidual day. One day when we park hopped they gave us a voucher to take to the 2nd park so we wouldn't have to pay twice.

I would just wait and see if he even needs it. My 5 yr old DS did fine without a stroller and we went over Easter and were in the parks from opening till sometimes midnight. We didn't offer, he didn't ask and no problems.

Hard to say. when my YS (youngest son) was 5, we went stroller-free for the first time. It has a lot of advantages. However, it did involve some daddy-carry.

Thanks for the tips. I'm pretty sure he'll need a stroller, he's not one for walking all day and I am worried about dealing with a stroller on the bus add to that He is a VERY BIG boy and the disney rentals look sturdy and big enough. How much a day are they?

Question on comfort of the rentals ? Could a big 5 yearold sleep in one. And thughts on how to get a 90# 5 year old from park to bus if using a rental and he is sleeping. He is a sleeper in cars ,in strollers. When he's tired he crashes!!

You couldn't take him on a bus in your stroller anyway...so if he is sleeping you will have to pick him up...or wake him.

We love the rentals...

It is still shown on their website for multiple day rental. See below:

For Guests who require a stroller rental for multiple days, we offer a Length of Stay rental ticket where you make a one-time payment transaction for as many days of rental that you will need. Single-passenger strollers are available for $8.00* per day and double-passenger strollers** for $16.00 per day. Upon visiting a Theme Park, simply show your receipt at the stroller rental location and you will be expedited through the queue with little or no wait time.

Thanks but how comfy are the rentals and how difficukt would a jogging stoller be on the bus????

The 4 theme parks have different strollers. You can see the pictures at Allearsnet's website. In MGM, they are actually larger jogging stroller. One good thing I've heard is you never worry about it being stolen. You can pick up another one anytime with your receipt. They are also larger that even a 10yr old may fit in.

The strollers at MGM have been recently changed to the same type of strollers as at the other parks, so all the parks now have the firm plastic strollers.
Here's a link to the page about strollers at allearsnet.
The strollers are firm plastic, not as hard as they look and we have seen lots of kids sleeping in them over the years. Park CMs have posted here that the strollers can hold up to a small 12 year old. If you need more space (or have a single heavier child), you can rent a double.

Besides not being able to bring a sleeping child in a stroller on the bus, you will have a hard time finding a stroller to buy that can hold a 90 pound child . Most strollers (even jogging strollers) won't hold a child over 60 pounds. For a child heavier than 50 pounds, usually the only option are special needs strollers which can hold up to a small adult, but have price tags starting at about $300.

Thanks for the info I really want to rent as I had noticed the weight limits, but still the trek from the park to the bus is a concern!!
