To Re-hitch or not re-hitch

Has anyone done the re-hitching ceremony at the Garden Grille? How was it? Was it worth it?:confused:
 
DH and I were rehitched at Garden Grill last October (2001) for our 3rd anniversary. It was a lot of fun! It was worth it, as there is no extra charge over the price of the meal. The waiter rehitched us with a crowd of the serving staff gathered around. We received a really cute certificate and a complimentary anniversary cake.

If you want to eat at the Garden Grill, then the rehitchin is definately worth it. We also found the character interaction to be fantastic - and we were a party of 5 adults!

BTW - I surprised DH with the rehitchin, and he loved it!!!!!!! I was a bit worried, as he usually does not like to have attention drawn to him, but he was a great sport! He wants to do it again next year for our 5th! :)
 
Thanks. I was going to make it a surprise but then thought I should say something just in case. We might still do it if we can squeeze it in.
 
I booked it for my friends anniversary last spring and didnt tell them it was comming! They had a ball! And hey its free, so of course its worth it!
 

This sounds interesting but I have never heard of it ?
Could you give me all the details ?

...with our upcoming trip! This might be something I would be interested in. What are the details? We are already booked for the ice cream social at GG...can we do the ceremony then? What fun :)
 
I would LOVE to know more about this because we are celebrating our 9th anniversary while in WDW. Tell me more... tell me more! :bounce:
 
Here's the scoop:

Make a PS for the Garden Grill and be sure to ask them to note that you want to do the rehitchin' ceremony. When you arrive, tell the CM who checks you in to please note "rehitching ceremony" on your card. This way your server will know this and they can plan for it. (Just an aside -- I always ask any WEDW restaurant to write any special notes on the card -- birthday, anniversary, etc.)

After your meal, your server will come to your table. You'll be asked to stand and your server will do a brief ceremony (do you take this person... etc.). If you are lucky, your server will round up some extra staff and maybe even some characters to participate.

The fun part is next: you get to kiss to the count of 100!! The server usually gets everyone in the vicinity to participate in the count.

The count is done like this: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 ... then by 10's up to 100 (10, 20, 30 and so on). While counting, everyone is clapping or yelling -- generally having a great time.

Tip: Bring a camera or video camera; ask one of the servers to take pictures or tape the event.

After this, they bring out a nice white cake (it's enough for several people!) and plates. The cake has a nice white chocolate top that says Congratulations! with Mickey and Minnie on it.

You should also get a certificate that confirms your rehitchin' ceremony -- suitable for framing -- to remind you of this magical moment.

Is it worth it? Oh yes!! It's free, it's fun.

One last tip: Ask if Sam (CM) is on duty and if he is, ask for him as your server/rehitcher. Sam is an absolute hoot -- a real ham -- and he really enjoys this part of the job. He had 4 or 5 servers come, plus he got Pluto, Mickey and Chip to be in our rehitching party! (Granted we did our around 2 pm when things were a little slower...) Anyway -- be sure to ask for SAM!! :p
 
I booked the Ice Cream Social and asked for a rehitching, the CM seemed to be confused and said he would talk to his manager about it.
Do I have to book for lunch? My DD has her heart set on the Ice Cream

I made a PS for the ice cream social and told them we were celebrating our 10th anniversary and we wanting the rehitching. They said 'no problem'. They didn't do it! I did not remind the CM when we arrived, BUT it was suppose to be a SURPRISE! I was very disappointed. The ice cream was good, but it bummed me out...:(
 
We got Re-Hitched during the Ice Cream Social in September. I confirmed when I booked the PS and confirmed when we checked in at the restaurant, just in case it wasn't noted. It was, and the "ceremony" was great! Too bad we were still very, very full from our lunch at Coral Reef - we didn't eat too much of the ice cream but it was very good. We had a CM video it it and we got our certificate.
If you book it, confirm it several times just to be on the safe side!
