A thought on "only eating outside". Last month we went on a rafting trip, with a short hotel stay on either side. Our intent was "only eating outside". The problem was, it was HOT. Like miserably hot. We ended up eating inside in the air conditioning a handful of times (we would be out and about, so couldn't just go eat in our hotel room.)

I imagine Disney in the summer would be similar. Intentions to eat inside, but then you need the air conditioning break.

This is exactly why we ended up eating indoors once a day (table service). We made the reservations with the thought we could cancel closer to the date if we felt unsafe, but we wanted the option. It was just so hot though, that we needed the AC break so we kept them. Most of the table service restaurants felt more spaced out than the quick service looked. Some table service, like the Plaza, had really close tables, but that’s a really small restaurant to begin with. We ate breakfast in the room, table service lunch, and dinner was usually take out from the resort hotel back in the room as well.

Aren’t we all funny! I’ve done the opposite. I’m now *thinking* I’ll avoid F&W entirely. Too much touching and sharing and people! The only day I could go was a Friday and I think the locals will be there in droves. On the other hand, I’ve added more ADRs because I like to sit at my own table and know the food was prepared away from the masses.
My other plans are swimming, double-masking, and just being relaxed about what I have to do

We go in three weeks. Four of us. Not concerned at all. If there were no mask requirements we would still go without any worries. We are 61 years old and probably have about 15-20 more years to travel. My advice, go while you can, time goes by fast.

We were in WDW on 3/12/2020 when they announced the shutdown. Looking back, it was probably the safest time in which to be there, but since everything was changing so rapidly (professional and college sports shutting down, etc), it was scary.

Anyway -- my point is, everyone is different and if you tend to lean toward nerves, discomfort, high level of caution (I'm describing myself), then know that your experience will be impacted. I'm glad we went (I guess), but it was an almost constant presence in my mind (and we shaved off our final day of the trip and came home early). For someone with a different personality, it might be a completely different experience. Just know that even if you are careful that you will encounter people who are not. It comes with the territory for large groups of people.

We thought a little about going in November, but we've just made reservations for late January. We'll see what things look like then and if there's another holiday bump (please no).

We brought small packets of Lysol and Clorax wipes, in addition to our hand wipes and sanitizer. We'd wipe down our tables and arms of the chairs before sitting down, even at the indoor ones. I went though 4 of them a day (only 10 in a pouch, and there were 8 of us almost every day); best $5 a day I have spent.

When we were there, the hand sanitizer stations were about 90% empty. We had 4 mini bottles of hand sanitizers between the 8 of us, and went through at least 2 a day. My hands were so rough after we got home; it took me two weeks of moisturizing and wearing gloves while cleaning or touching wet laundry to get them back to pretrip.

How accurate are those home covid tests? Recall when trained medical personnel were administering tests early on in covid, it required a good bit of skill to get an accurate swab. Perhaps home tests are more accurate now and/or less sensitive to how they are done. However, even if you test positive for covid there still isn't any medication your doctor can prescribe to treat/cure the virus. Not sure what the value is of knowing you have covid if there isn't any treatment available. Some people can have covid and not experience any symptoms. Avoid large crowds or crowded indoor areas, wash hands frequently, don't touch your face, wear a mask, etc. still seems like good advice regardless of whether or not you have covid.

So that you can quarantine and not give it to others. We all tested when we got home. My grandson became ill the day before we were scheduled to leave and his symptoms were similar to covid. My kids are all teachers and one of them was returning to the classroom the day after we got back. I can't imagine him going into a classroom full of children, knowing he could be positive for covid and just not bothering to test.

I watched the ResortTV1 livestream of Boo Bash last night. When I saw them trying to walk up Main Street, against the flow of traffic, with everyone leaving after Happily Ever After ended to get back into the hub for the event.. I don't think the moderators will allow me to voice my opinion, but I would recommend anyone watch for themselves.

Omg. I missed that part, as I only tuned in long enough to check the crowds during the event. Let’s just say I know where I WON’T be for fireworks if my trip still happens! Thanks for pointing this out.

We were extremely careful about being in crowds and found the garden area in front of Casey's to be acceptable for us. If you get there an hour or so before the fireworks, you should be able to get a spot on the back fence. You're distanced from anyone outside the garden area there and people really didn't pack into it like it was everywhere else. This was 2 weeks ago when the park was very crowded. We just sat back and relaxed for half an hour or so and let the crowds thin out before we exited.

Yes. There may be some spots slightly obscured, but being short, I find I actually see a lot more from there than in the crowd in the main part of the Hub

We are bringing OTC tests with us.. they cost about 1 euro now by us..
We are bringing 4 kits with us ( 2 people).. will use only if we notice symtoms. The only challange is usually the AC in Florida makes me a bit conjested and that happens to be a prime symtom of covid too. .. Also just thought if it makes sense to bring a thermometer in my medication kit or not.. hmmmm

But people have posted how its a challange to get tested in FL and also many OTC are sold out. If this is a concern for you, the buy back at home and bring with.

I would write more infos on these tests as here in Germany we have become experts on these things siince they are used everywhere, but I guess we cannot address Covid specifics here. I can only say, yes they are a tool.

I always travel with one and it's come in handy on more than one occasion (pre-Covid). I would bring it!

This is a great idea. I sure wish we would’ve had one with us when my grandson got sick on our trip 2 weeks ago. We couldn’t find an urgent care that could see him, no site that would test him or any place that had self test kits. It would’ve relieved a lot of worry had we been able to at least self test.

If you test positive at Disney then you’ve already been contagious for a few days and could have spread it to others.
