What's the best way to either:

1) Get from Animal Kingdom to Trail's End & then to Hollywood Studios or

2) Get from Boardwalk Hotel to Trail's End & then to Hollywood Studios

Thanks for your help!

We've never been to the campground area before but I've heard the buffet is really good.

The challenge with getting to Trail's End is that unless you are coming by boat from the MK (and maybe from the CR too, but I'm not 100 percent sure) it requires transferring to an internal bus.

From AK, you would take the bus to FW and then transfer to the internal bus to get to Pioneer Hall. Going from there to DHS you would take the internal bus to the front of the campground and then switch to a DHS bus.

From Boardwalk, I would take the bus to MK and then the boat to FW. Pioneer Hall is just up the hill from the boat dock. Going from Pioneer Hall to DHS would be the same as above.

Be sure to allow enough time. I went from AKL to Trails End last year and it took 1 hour 15 minutes. I took the bus from AKL to MK, then the boat. Waited long for the bus, waited long for the boat.

Thanks! Is it clearly signed where to get on the internal bus? Do these run frequently?

You will get on the internal bus at the same place you get off of the theme park bus.

The best bus to take is the Yellow Settlement, it will get you close to Trails End the fastest, the next best bus to take is Purple Settlement, the slowest bus is Orange Settlement.

The internal buses will come about every 15 minutes.

Why are different buses quicker or slower?

Why are different buses quicker or slower?

Because of the routes they take through the campground and the number of stops.

From the Outpost, the Yellow bus turns right at the 4-way stop sign, then only has 4 stops (1600-1900, 1500, 1400, 300-500), then it stops at Settlement. (that's where you get off for the restaurants and marina).

From the Outpost, the Purple bus turns left at the 4-way stop sign, then has approximately 4 stops through the cabins, then stops at Loop 2000, then stops at the Group Camping area, then takes a back road to the Settlement.

From the Outpost, the Orange bus turns left at the 4-way stop sign, then has 4 stops through the cabins, then backtracks back to the 4-way then continues on down the center of the campground and has 3 more stops down the center road, then stops at Settlement.

Because the Yellow route DOES NOT go past the cabins and has fewer stops, it makes the run quicker. Quite frankly, there also seem to be fewer folks actually using the internal buses on the Yellow route also. Many have golf carts and/or bicycles, so those four stops quite often are just stop, open the door and continue on.

There are MANY more folks staying at the cabins that don't have bicycles or a golf cart and depend on the internal transportation. So the stops involve more folks getting on and off at each stop.

The Orange route also includes a stop at the main pool and recreation area, so there are lots more folks using the Orange route to visit that area of the campground, so stops take longer on the Orange route also.

Wow, thanks for the detailed explanation, clkelley. Very informative.

Another question. Would it be worth it to wait for a Yellow, assuming for example you just missed a Yellow, and the next ones coming along were either Orange or Purple?

Me personally, I would skip an Orange and wait for a Yellow or Purple.

Probably wouldn't skip a Purple.

What about taking the bus to WL and then transferring to a boat? The last time we went that is how we did it. Just be aware there really is no easy way.

That is a good idea also. There is also a direct bus from WL to Fort Wilderness that stops at Settlement.
