As far as Snacks mostly we used them on things like Apple and Carmel Sauce, or HUGEEEEEE sundaes from the pop century , milkshakes basically ice cream based things or desserty things. Because of the heat we came back to the hotel midday to change so always just chose things from everything pop, which I have alot of pictures of the Grab and Go section which show how clearly marked snack options are for those who've been curious.

The Cast:
Disney Mummy : DM is the only truly adventerous eater, she's willing to try anything once ... twice if she likes it! She doesn't do anything mega spicy but is willing to give it a try. DM is getting married Valentine's Day 2009 so the quest for wedding Disney stuff for mum seemed a quest which we ended up getting some ornaments and the Bride and Groom ears for the rehearsal.

Disney Best Friend's Mummy: My best friend's mummy joined us (thus this was true mother daughter trip) she seemed willing to try new things but definetley liked what she liked. The only thing I could tell she did not like was peanut butter as at Crystal Palace there was a huge Peanut Butter Cake Fiasco.

Disney Best Friend: Definetley the pickiest! Though I'm quite picky myself. She is a definete chicken and mashed potatoes girl and that became an on going joke that she'd like a restaurant as they have chicken and mashed potatoes. Though eventually she found the joke unamusing. She definetley liked the Potatoe casserole at CRT as did everyone as we kept talking about it the entire trip. DBF is in her 2nd year of College taking nursing. And is 20.

Me: I'm a 20 year old 3rd year English Student with a minor in History and Political Science. I'm a picky eater I don't like sauces or condiments but I was definetley willing to try different things this trip. Though the most adventerous things I tried this trip were Sheppards Pie ( I know blasphemous ive never had it) , Fried Pear and gorgonzola sandwiches and random things at the buffets. By the end of the trip i fell in love with breakfast pizza and sausage gravy and made some just tonight for the first time though it wasn't the same without the Disney Magic.

All of us are from a small town in Ontario Canada called Petawawa. Alot of Canadian's have heard of it if you have a military background.
You'll find I'm wordy being an English major ... but I'll try not to stray too far.:goodvibes

Here's a picture of us all at Sci Fi Diner...
Mum and I are in the back and DBF and DBFM in the front

Does it get any better?

This History major / English minor thinks not! :thumbsup2

Okay so we started wayy Early at 3am getting our stuff ready to leave from the Ottawa Airport for our 6am flight to Detroit, then from Detroit to Orlando after an uneventful Magic Express check in we arrived at the pop century around 1pm and decided we'd sit and relax and get some food and the oh so important mug:
101_1649.jpg

It's a good deal get alll you can drink re fills the entire week I believe $12.95.
Now with this mug here is what you can drink at the Pop Century
100_1181.jpg

Coke and Blue Slushie which tasted cherryish to me but I'm sure it was raspberry or somethin as blue usually signifies raspberry at least in Canada. Now I always find it odd blue means raspberry you think it'd mean well blueberry, but I digress away from my odd meanderings. It also has this pop
100_1182.jpg

So your standard Coke, Diet Coke, Coke Zero, Sprite Zero (this tasted funny to me everytime I had it), Fanta Orange, Minute Maid Apple, Minute Made Lemonade.
Note: I found it odd there was no Root Beer or Ginerale or regular sprite. I noticed at the Poly they had Fruit Punch and Iced Tea which was nice!

To eat DBF, DBFM and I all had cheese dogs and fries, and mum had a cheesesteak wrap.

100_0996.jpg

I just realized the wrap was still well wrapped up oops! Oh well...

The Cheese Dogs were nice as we hadn't eaten since McDonalds at 9am ish in Detroit. Oh by the way Detroit's McDonalds was more expensive and tasted way different than Canada's must not have the same value menu items for breakfast :) But back to the Cheesedogs... we all opted for no chili and the cheese was warm and salty but made the bun kinda soggy but they were still really good. The fries salty and crisp.

The cheesesteak mum said was really good but the cheese was definetley processed and would have been better not being a cheese slice.

We didn't use the DDP as we were still acclamating and just happy to be at disney. We did get a flip flop rice crispie treat we all shared it was yummy
100_0994.jpg

For Drinks I had an Orange Pop, DBF a Chocolate Milk, DBFM a Nestea and DM Diet Coke.

haha thanks! History and English jive well together in my opinion when you get sick of reading fiction you go and get sick of reading non-fiction :)

I am here bring on the food pics. That Cheese Dog looks so yummy. How did you like POP resort?

Now I had been most excited about this one I had went in with the intention of Sally Lunn bread and having some what I expected to be amazing trifle but alas we all ended up getting the Buckingham Palace tea package. For breakfast we had it at the Hotel we shared two adult breakfast platters which I don't have pictures of but it involves two slices of bacon a sausage patty a biscuit some potatoes and some eggs and one juice and one drink. It was good, nothing to write home about. It was our first use of the DDP and it went easily as Id read so much on the DIS that it seemed straightforward.

We all went to the Magic Kingdom and after doing some rides went back to the hotel and got dressed up to go to the Grand Floridian. Mum and I had matching yellow and white dressed it was cutsie but we're really close. We took a bus to the Magic Kingdom from POP and then took a Monorail to the Grand Floridian. Mum and I had been to WDW before but DBF and DBFM had not so the first monorail ride for them was mega exciting, heck I still get excited. I bought a shirt that says the monorail saying in Spanish I was tickled pink to get it!

We got to the Grand Floridian which is the last stop when leaving from MK and checked in. Garden View Tea lounge is in the lobby farthest from the entrance. Above us there was a band playing near the end of tea and before that the pianist in the lobby was playing. I was playing with my camera and found out it had Panorama so I took this photo of the lobby.

Dottie was our waitress and she was informative and an absolute doll and we all had a conversation about how many pictures of her there are in the world and where they get placed. We joked we'd put ours up on the mantlepiece above our fireplace (which we don't have one so it was odd we agreed to that) but here is Dottie to be immoralized on the DIS
100_1046.jpg

I booked this 3 weeks before the trip, and we were told there was only 2 tables of two available. Well let me tell you it was fairly empty and we ended up at a table for 6 but there were loads of tables for four and two so take what they offer you when booking, you'll probably be fine!

We all as I said got the buckingham, and I'm using allearsnet descriptions of our teas

DM had "Princess Breakfast Tea - A sweet custom blend of South African organic rooibos flavored with vanilla bean and a hint of strawberries. Rich in antioxidants and vitamins, and naturally decaffeinated."
100_1047.jpg

DBFM had "Floral Jasmine Green - Delicately perfumed with golden jasmine blossoms with fresh mellow overtones and a slightly astringent finish. Sweet, slightly tannic finish."
100_1052.jpg

DBF and I had "Mad Hatter - A blend of passion fruit, pomegranate, and vanilla for a clean and sweet finish. Perfect with decadent desserts and companions."
100_1048.jpg

100_1049.jpg

I enjoyed learning the proper way to have tea with the strainer. We were trying to read our tea leaves in the strainer and my strainer showed me this
100_1050.jpg

Which I thought I saw a hidden mickey so I declared my tea leaves told me I'd be taking a trip to disneyworld or disneyland. I think they were dead on. My boyfriend is living in California so I'm trying to convince him in October we Haveeeee to go to disneyland

The first two were in press pots and the Madhatter came out in individual teapots for the record.

For sandwiches DBF and I got kids sandwiches and the mum's got the adult ones. we did some trading I dont eat tuna so I traded for Pear and Gorgonzola and at the PBJ and the Ham and Cheese and DBF traded her tuna for Egg Salad. We all enjoyed our sandwiches the other being shrim salad (mums liked it laura Tried it and did not, Chicken salad which everyone liked that tried it, and tuna which the mums liked) Dottie was nice about bringing the kid sandwiches and dont ever hesitate to ask! The top corner there was an onion tart which I really liked. Though it doesnt go well with PBJ and after i had the Peanut BUtter it made it taste odd so I gave it to my mom the other half but it was still good just a victim of unfortunate peanut butter circumstance.
100_1051.jpg

Next came out the scone and jam tart and the rich rich rich rich devonshire cream which is soo soo soo good on the scone with the strawberry jam.
100_1054.jpg

100_1053.jpg

It was reallllllllly good and the scones were still warm and with the devonshire cream and jam very good and the Mad Hatter accompanied it well. The Jam tart was good not great I found the crust a little odd in taste but the jam part good. Now mind you I get hives from berries so I had medication in me so it may have impaired my judgement which brings me to my question does water in Florida taste funny? This was our first time getting waters which Dottie kept filled up well, but it had an odd chloriney taste. But I digress!

On came dessert you have the option between strawberries and cream or pastrie selection well mum got strawberries
100_1057.jpg

DBFM got eclair and bailey's cream swan, DBF got mango mousse and eclair and I got mango mousse and bailey's cream swan
100_1055.jpg

100_1056.jpg

100_1058.jpg

Everything we agreed was really good the swan's were omg amazing I think I cried a little when it was gone. The mango mousse was good but not as great as the swan, and the eclairs were standard. Mum said the strawberries were amazingly fresh and yummy and the whipped cream light. The ambience was nice but we felt funny as we felt like grown ups and feeling like a grown up is odd!

It was a great experience and I highly recommend it. We had to pay OOP but it was definetley worth it!
5 out of 5 on everything really for this one! :)

I loved it we were on the 2nd floor of the Tramp Building in the 50's looking out on the lake we could see fireworks at MK and Epcot each night so it was pleasant! Every room on our floor on our wing had towel animals in the window so it was nice. They changed alll the mattresses while we were there it was weird seeing mattresses everywhere! The food court was only busy at breakfast otherwise wasnt too bad and it was comfy and nice to stay there. Though the safe was small not as big as expected we only used it for passports so it was fine. There was alllllot of bunnies and lizards which was interesting as well.

Love the title!!!

How much choice did you have with the Afternoon tea? It seems like you were at least allowed to choose 2 pastries from a selection (since you all had different ones at your table). Were you also allowed to choose which sandwiches they gave you (you said you traded -- do you mean with your friends and family, or the server let you substitute one type of sandwich for another?). Could you have ordered everything a la carte?

Thanks for any info...trying to decide if I want to do this in November....

Oh thank you for the tea review!!!:worship: :worship:
DH and I are doing this in Dec. and can't wait. It looks fabulous. Yum.:lovestruc

A minor in History, great. ;) I have a PhD in History and my English usage is crap. (I love the Roman Empire)

Okay well you can substitute with the server we were offered but we just did it among us as the trading worked well. You get two pastries each... like if i wanted a plate of all ham and cheese i could have :) You get two pastries OR strawberries and cream... if you do the sally lunn bread you get strawberries and cream or trifles i believe :)
