To book HB or not to book HB?

HI
New to posting but have been lurking a while and am plunging in the deep end to ask some questions! :thumbsup2

We've been to DLP twice before, one onsite (Newport B. 2006) and one last year offsite (Berny Riviere).
This year we're doing a week at Berny Riviere at the end of May (half term) and decided to go to Disney for a couple of days so got the tickets. Last night I basically made the decision to stay the night closer to DLP so we didn't have so much travelling time (OH kindly agreed after seeing the prices weren't too bad!).

We're staying the night at Cheyenne, booked via Expedia, on the night of the 26 May. Breakfast for the 27th in included so not a problem there.
Trouble is I'm concerned about the cost of 2 evening meals (26/27th) and a lunch (27th) (the 26th will be a packed lunch brought with us).

Is HB as good a value as it seems? OH would need to see/hear prices to think about before booking it and KNOW we're saving money doing it that way! We're 2 adults and 2 children, not particularly fussy eaters, but I'm thinking 3 meals could work out quite expensive whereas HB might be a better bet.

As we booked via Expedia can we still book HB? (although I'm thinking yes as we're staying at a Disney hotel, just need clarification from knowledgeable peeps here!).

Any help, in simple terms (it's the end of a long week and I need to explain it to OH!), would be appreciated! :)
Thanks! :goodvibes

Yes, you can book half board, as you're staying at an onsite hotel.
As you've only got one night in an onsite hotel, you'll only be able to book one hb voucher for each member of your party too I'm afraid. These will be valid from when you pick them up on 26th May, until the end of 27th May only.

As the prices for hb increase from 3rd April, I honestly don't know if they'll be a great saving - it really is going to depend on where you intend using them. The euro rate when you go will also have a bearing on how much of a saving you will make having hb vouchers.

Remember though, you can book hb vouchers as late as a couple of days before you check in, so maybe, in your case, it would make sense to wait and see what happens with the euro rate?

Thanks DLPdaft.
I was (am) concerned, after reading a new thread earlier, that not having booked the hotel through Disney (either online or by phone) that we couldn't do the HB option. :confused3 Expedia didn't give us the choice so couldn't decide then either. If we'd have thought about doing it as a package earlier it would have saved trouble! But it was a 'spur of the moment' type thing to stay (which I'm rather pleased about! :cloud9: )

If noone else knows for definate then we'll take the chance with the prices and choose wisely or just ring them a week or so before we go and see what happens. They can only say no! :rotfl:
I'm still trying to decide which restaurants to try (so we can book when we arrive). Walts, Plaza Gardens, Blue Lagoon or Lucky Nugget....decisions decisions!! :woohoo:

A few other questions though if you don't mind - well at the moment that I can think of!
EMH - being a Disney hotel (not booked direct) we'll definately get those will we? Obviously depends on what is open at the time or even if it's available that day but nice to know it's there if we want it.

We'll be arriving at the Parks about 9/10am on the 26th but obviously that is way to early for check-in at 3pm. What happens re: parking. Can we go to the hotel, park there for free (see reception if needed) and walk to the parks or should we just pay for parking at the Park itself and move the car later?

For checkout, we'll obviously have breakfast and then leave (checkout in effect) to spend the whole day in the park and then drive back to Berny, but what happens about the car? Can it stay in the hotel car park for free all day or do we move it again to the park car park and pay? :confused3

Sorry for so many questions and maybe they should all be separate!

If EMH is happening the morning of 27th May, yes, you'll be eligible to go in for that, as you're booked into the Cheyenne on the 26th.

Although you may not get your room until 3pm on 26th May, you can actually check in at your onsite hotel any time you like, so from 9am, if thats when you intend arriving. So you can park you car for free at the Cheyenne on 26th from when you arrive, and I'd imagine you can leave it there until you are ready to leave the resort altogether on 27th.
Thats what happens to my suitcases anyway - I check out in the morning, and don't pick up my bags from the baggagerie at the hotel until after 5pm that evening :goodvibes .

Yes you can leave you car all day- you are doing very similar to what we did the first time we went. We were at Berny Riviere as well and were going to visit for a day or 2 but then decided to stay onsite instead - we stayed at Santa Fe.

Many thanks. :goodvibes

Last year we did 2 separate days (tues/thurs) and did Parc Asterix in between to break it up. But after thinking about it, and missing the BH Monday we (or should I say I!) decided it would be better spending the consecutive days there and staying the night. Nice to know we can go to the hotel straight away. Last time (2006) staying onsite we arrived pretty much at check-in time so didn't have that query - and no car!!
I'm so glad I found this board! All friendly people and so much experience! :)
