TMX ELMO-I don't get the hype.

I admit, I enjoy shopping. I rarely pay full price for anything and do make the more than occasional trip to the mall. Usually it is for stuff we need-clothes, etc.

What is all the hype with this Elmo? They are going for almost $200 on ebay.

It just rubs me the wrong way. People running all over stores, knocking eachother over like loons for a toy. WTH?

It's the usual argument-there are wars going on, people starving in various locations around the world, there is a crisis in the Middle East and on and on.

I can't help but wonder what people from other countries think when they see people knocking eachother down for a stuffed red guy that laughs. :confused3

I think we all know what they think. :sad2: Heck, I think it too, and I live here.

Elmo is eeeeeeeeeeeevil.

:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I think you and I would get along just fine! Check out my new tags from an earlier thread on the subject and you'll see why. Ha!

I would NOT have this thing in my house. I did the Tickle Me Elmo creature a few years back when DD was younger and it was possessed!! The thing went off by itself at all hours of the night giggling like a rabid hyena! Let's just say it met it's demise when it woke me one too many times and hasn't been heard from since. :teeth:

Wait. I'm confused, too. What's the big deal? Have I missed something? Care to explain? :confused3

Too funny! :rotfl:

:confused3 Was in WalMart today....No Big deal there? Not sure if they had them or not!

If someone wants to pay $200 for one I hope they ENJOY it...ALOT!

So what is this thing supposed to do?

You know, one of my favorite holiday movies is Jingle All the Way, just because of the poking fun of the "toy race".

We had the possessed Sleep & Snore Ernie. "I feel great!" spoken at random moments at all hours, typically at inopportune moments such as just as DD was about to fall asleep... :rolleyes1

If an Elmo is going for $200, I wonder what I can get for a possessed Ernie... :)

Short version? He rolls around laughing like this ... :rotfl2: over and over while laughing like a crazed rat!

For a video clip go here, scroll down a bit and click "watch video demo" on the left side under the red furry guy.

Enjoy, but keep it far from me. ;)

http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=4806188

ETA: the video doesn't really show it too you as well AT all but here is the "official description".

When kids tickle Elmo once on any of the tickle spots, he starts to laugh and slap his leg twice, then falls down into a sitting position and rocks himself back up to standing while laughing. When they tickle him a second time, he repeats the pattern, then sits down again and falls backwards onto his back and starts kicking his feet while laughing even harder. He then stands back up and asks to be tickled again. And on the third tickle he absolutely lets loose going through the first two patterns and then rolling over onto his tummy where he starts hitting the floor with his hand in gales of laughter, then rolling onto his back, standing up again, and ending with a deep sigh.

IMO your first statement has a whole lot to do with why the things in your second statement are happening. ;)

Granted parents have always gone a bit nuts trying to find that must have toy for their kiddos, but I think the whole e-bay phenomenon just compounds the problem.

People who have absolutely no intention whatsoever of keeping the annoying furry little laughing guy are out there acting like complete lunatics trying to get their hands on as many as possible so they can score big on e-bay.

We've never had an Elmo toy and thankfully he is not on my list this year either.

It has got be better than the freakin "chicken dance elmo" . That thing was vile. Someone gave it to one of the kids, and I tossed it after about a week :rotfl: :rotfl:

We are officially out of the Elmo phase, I am pleased to report :woohoo: :woohoo:

You can see it on good morning america site. That is were I seen it. I am hoping that dd 3 will not what one if she does then I would probably get it but not paying $200 on ebay. Hope fully I can get one at target were I work.

I was at Walmart yesterday and they had tons. Should I go back and buy them all to put up on Ebay this Christmas? :goodvibes

yes :)

Although I'm betting they are gone by now. I was in Target last night and they had a big sign out. "NO ELMO"

He is pretty cute. My 3 year old thinks it is hilarious.

zalansky,

They had a ton at my WalMart, too.

DON'T LAUGH BUT I BOUGHT ONE AND I AM GOING TO EBAY IT.

We may have to have our drain field replaced on our septic tank and it would be around $20,000 so I need all the money I can get. :guilty:

They had boxes full of them and they were all just sitting there. I guess the craziness hasn't spread to South Florida yet.

For the record, I still don't get the hype but if someone wants to pay me double for what I paid then that's okay. :rotfl: :lmao:

Well, they do seem to be selling for crazy prices. Can you imagine paying $150 for one? Gotta wonder what the heck people are thinking?!

But, realize that there are also 21,685 listings for TMX Elmo up on e-bay right now.
I guess they could keep selling for crazy prices, but there's no guarantee.
I have to wonder if it might be a bit of a gamble? :confused3

We watched a video of it on the GMA site. My kids were laughing their butts off. I admit I thought he was pretty darn cute. I love when he rolls over on his belly and starts slapping the floor laughing. It is one of those toys that is funny and cute the first few times you watch it and then the kids will lose interest quickly but I do think he is hilarious.
