FIL said that if DS8 was feeling better by the time we were ready to go to their house then he wanted DS8 to go and didn't care if he brought "it" with him. FIL wants to see the kids as often as he can while he can. Yes, FIL is that ill. DS8 felt better but he didn't eat much and was ready to go home and go to bed earlier then normal.

So sorry to hear the kids were sick  but I am glad the kids got to spend time w/ FIL. That time is precious!!!!

Today I am playing "Are you Smarter Than a 5th Grader" with my DS7. We shall see.

Rudolph's Shiny New Year is on Tues night. Don't forget to watch for Baby New Year!!!!

Afternoon ladies! Is everyone still recovering from a wonderful holiday weekend?

Pikester...sorry to hear the kids were sick. Are they doing better now?

DL55...do you usually get snow this time of year? You're ruining my idea of the balmy Southwest.

D&D....so, are you smarter than a 5th grader? I know I'm not!

JOCA...I know what you mean about having to clean up...I don't think we did anything in particular, I just think we were lazy and now I have to pay for it! I thought we spent most of Christmas in our pajamas, but how is there THAT MUCH laundry to do?!

Sukie...enjoy those days off! I agree with you, Winter is so much more enjoyable from indoors. I highly suggest catching up on all the telly you've missed! We watched the Office over the weekend, and it was so much fun.

I spent yesterday in the car with my father, my sister, and my potty mouth. We had decided to drive her back into the city, and we had to run to Jersey anyway to go ethnic food shopping and mail some boxes, so we combined them all. The drive down was fine (although Jersey gas prices are 40 cents cheaper/gallon!), but getting into Manhattan was a nightmare! We spent 90 minutes just getting through the Holland tunnel, and another 40 minutes trying to navigate the crowded street of Chinatown in a poor attempt to make it to the FDR. We dropped off my sister, fought our way through central park, almost got hit at Columbus circle, and took the Westside highway north.

Upon getting out of the city, we were stuck on the Sawmill parkway---closed due to flooding. I guess all the snow from last weekend's storm had melted (it was 55 yesterday) and they had to close the parkway and divert us through these small roads.

Ugh! It was just too much for me. I told my Dad to forgive me while I just spewed out all sorts of profanity....after sitting in the car that long (overall nearly 8 hours) I couldn't take it anymore! I do supposed the cafe mocha I had didn't help either.....

I'm looking forward to much much less driving, no traffic, and some good eats from the Chinese grocery today....oh, and all that laundry later!

MagiKitty I thought driving into Manhattan was always a nightmare. ;)
Last year it didn't snow all winter, this year we have already had double our average. El Nino years are wetter they say and it appears to be correct.

Thank you ladies for your concerns about the kids. They are both back to normal, whatever that is.

Who knew playing the Wii could hurt! I tried boxing and tennis yesterday and now my upper body is sore.

You're a naughty girl Magikitty. Such language!

Hello DL55, D&D and Sukie!

Just caught up. I wasn't sure if I would get home today. They were calling for snow flurries but the sun was out when I woke up. I see you all didn't close down the thread yet!

I just loved what some of you said about our thread here and our 'imaginary',real friends here. I do agree with what was written. You all are a great bunch of friends who are a great support to each other...that's just so special.

DD's suggestion was TKr's-Killin'Threads and Killin' Time :rotfl:

Love it...I just don't think I'm killing too many threads anymore. I don't go out there in the big DIS world and post too much. There's just not much need to do that with you all here.

I am going to take a moment to be serious (but just for a moment;)).

I agreed with what you said...please stop being serious now! :rotfl:

I look forward to another thread, another year to make happy memories and watching our friendships grow.

Me too!

So this guy walks into a pet store looking for a really cool gift for his girlfriend. As he is looking around he sees this parrot with a little Santa hat on his head and thinks that is pretty neat. He walks closer and sees a little sign stating that the parrot's name is Chet. As he continues to check out the parrot a sales clerk walks over and says that Chet is the coolest parrot ever. You see, if you hold a flame underneath his left foot he sings Jingle Bells. The clerk whips out a lighter and puts a flame under the bird's left foot. The parrot starts squawking out "Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells, Jingle all the way.....The clerk removers the flame and then tells the guy that if you hold a flame under the parrot's right foot he sings Winter Wonderland. The clerk moves the lighter to the bird's right foot, gets the flame going and soon the parrot starts to sing "Sleigh Bells ring are you listening. In the lane snow is glistening......" the clerk removes the flame and looks at the guy and says "Isn't that cool?!" The guy shakes his head yes and asks the clerk "What happens if you put the flame under his butt?". The clerk shrugs his shoulders and says "I've never done that before" takes the lighter and flicks a flame under the bird's butt. No sooner does the warmth of the flame hit the bird when he starts to sing "Chet's nuts roasting on an open fire....".

I'd also like to share my thoughts about the group of friends I have found here.

I want to thank you all for being so welcoming way back when. From the first word I posted in this thread, I knew there was no looking back. I just knew I found a place to fit in. I want to thank you all for standing by me and my big mouth when I just have to say what is on my mind. I know it couldn't have been easy for any of you and for that I am grateful.

Each one of you have given me the strength to make it through the hardest of times. I know where to turn when I have a problem, if I need to laugh, if I just want to chit chat. You have welcomed my family into your families with open arms.....how could I ever ask for more from a group of "imaginary" friends.

May you all have a Merry Christmas.

Michele

 Love your mantle too!

I do hope the coming year brings us a full-fledged meet.
dscn1483.jpg

What do you consider a full fledged meet? There will be one in Hershey. I am not sure of the dates yet but any time you can come here you get to meet me! :lmao: But I am in secret negotations with a TKer to arrange a time. (It's so secret, I don't know it yet!) Then we'll put it out for others to come. I have to plan with a far away TKer first...not leaving anyone out but someone asked me about details first so we'll go with their date--like we did last summer. If someone else has a date, we can throw that one out too!

Lost the other quotes....Oh well!

My most exciting Christmas news was I bent---thankfully not broken---my glasses on Christmas! I could bend the back some so you could not tell! I was honest when I went in and got them fixed this am! They just laughed at me.
My FL friends were up for a funeral so I got to spend Sat with them...went to Shady Maple! YUM! We also went to see the new Alvin movie. It was very cute. I laughed more than at the first one. The chipmunks were cuter too.
Pikester---I just love my Wii. I do it alone...don't have to wait my turn! I got the Wii Fit for Christmas. I really love that too. The balancing things are fun.
I know holidays are hard to go through missing loved ones. I just hang on to good memories a lot during these times. Sometimes it is easy sometimes hard. Another reason to make the most of the time we have now. Don't sweat the small stuff. Like the lady butting in front of me at the store today. She probably thought there were 2 lines...2 registers beside each other but they both use 1 line. I just said to myself--you're in no hurry! But I did want to tell her I was ahead of her so she would know how nice I was being! :rotfl:

Can't think of what else I was going to comment on...It's lunch time!!!!

M&N...a super-duper secret Hershey meet?! I love it! This time I'm definitely going to take some extra days to explore Amish country and you must take me to this legendary Shady Maple.

DL55...ordinarily, I'm ok with driving in the city...its the parking I can't stand! :rotfl2: But I was just so unprepared for how crazy it was going to be. I'd like to think that it was those years of playing in the arcade playing Pole Position trained me well for NYC!

Its snowing here too...big fat flakes, but they're more worried here about the low temps than any accumulation.

On that note, I'd really like to tell the Garmin company (maker of my GPS Mr. Darcy) that they need to put a soothing message in for those times I'm just driving and he's not making conversation with me. Or when I do a particularly fantastic driving move, I'd like for Mr. Darcy to say "excellent driving" or "your driving skills are outstanding". I would totally pay extra to have a GPS who would give me good directions AND affirmation. Even "you look lovely today" would be greatly appreciated.

Yeah---Like the Wii says something when you get a spare or strike. But it does get boring when it says the same thing. So your Garmin would be saying great job of cutting that car off tooooo many times! :lmao: Or maybe it should tell some people--how about using that turn signal. NEW game---think of what Kitty should have her Garmin say!

Oh, I would so love to have a sarcastic Garmin. Someone who had my back while driving...and yes, please people use your turn signal! That really is one of my biggest peeves...I would totally let you in if you had your signal on, instead of getting upset when you cut me off because you didn't let me know you were turning!

If they would mount a camera in my car and watch my antics while driving, I could be the next reality star! :rotfl:

:lmao::rotfl2::lmao::rotfl2::lmao::rotfl2::lmao::rotfl2: That really would be something!

I don't know what it was about NYC yesterday. My friend drove up there with his family and a 1 hour 10 minute trip took over 3 1/2 hours! He said the tunnel was backed up for miles, and it was just insane the whole way. Wonder why?

I'm up for the Hershey meet! Just tell me when and where.

:rotfl2: I would like to take that job. I'm good at snarky, sarcastic remarks. :rotfl:

Y'know people... Hershey isn't the only place to TK meet!!! :rotfl2:There is life in the middle of this country too. The Mall of America??? Or Mt Rushmore???
k4n_best-smilies.com_vacation097.gif

Maybe St. Louis would be a nice half way point???
Although I have to admit, Hershey was fun. I just can't come out that way this year

I wonder if people think turn signals are expensive to replace so don't want them to wear out? :lmao:

DH said he wanted to go to Mt Rushmore on our way to Yellowstone. It's not really on the way but we have time now to take a month vacation. :) We are planning to be there in June.

I have to second that....ooooh! Mall of America.

But I do think I'd need at least a year to prepare my budget for that!

:lmao: Too funny---I just read a letter some lady wrote to a newspaper answer column comoplaining about her boyfriend. He doesn't use his turn signal until he's already turning and then clicks it off right away---reason is becau7se of having to replace the bulb! :lmao: The answer was they are not expensive plus they hardly ever burn out...told her she's got a cheap boyfriend!

Forgot to say about Mt Rushmore. Make sure you are there at night too---it's really neat with the lights on it. I think there is a special program for it. Of course it's been maybe 30 years since I was there...

Evening Ladies:

Just thought I'd drop by before heading to bed...I'm exhausted after having all my family over for dinner. We skipped the whole turkey thing since it is the 28th and had lasagna instead. The adults all do a steal the parcel exchange and I ended up with a nice bottle of red wine :thumbsup2

Highlight of the day was watching the Olympic Torch go by...the route took it past the end of my street (about 4 houses away) so we all headed down to watch. It was quite the motorcade...you'd think the president of something was going by, mind you earlier in the day some idiot ran out and tripped one of the torchbearers!!

Sounds like everyone's had a great holidays...except Pike and her houseful of sickies...at least you had your Wii to keep them occupied.

Our weather finally turned to winter today...snow and flurries...the north/south highway closed around 7:30 tonight...thank godness I don't have to go anywhere.

TTYL

OK, no big secret but it's me that is going to Hershey Park this summer. DH said he would take us (unless some big surprise pops up like last year which is doubtfull:goodvibes).

I would like to ask Magikitty and Wendy for the name of the hotel they stayed in and if it worked for you or if you would not stay there again. Also, during your travels were there other hotels that you saw that you would have liked to check out. I am looking for a place with a pool for the kids and that has a fridge. Looking for a good price too.

Hershey Park Happy, Hershey Park Glad...So many things to see and do, Good Times to be had! (theme song for HP!)

Anyone planning a trip to DW in April? I think that's when I'm going...want to go to Flower Festival.
