I'm a little tired too. I got up earlier this am. I had fun playing with my little 2 yr old cousin. She is go, go, go. Of course I do not understand her language since I'm not around her but mom made sure I knew what she needed if she got fussy. She fell off the chair as she was climbing up and knocked her arm...that set her crying but she was really just tired. I gave her a little tlc and she fell asleep. She was cranky when she woke up but mommoe was home by then.

I was looking at the arts & crafts thread and they have some cute Mickey head ornaments out of styrofoam balls.

I just heard thunder! I'm out of here...

Sounds like you had a nice time with your little cousin. I remember very clearly having to translate their talk at that age.

If it's thundering out your way, it might be heading this way. Guess I should go too.

Night!!!

I didn't hear any thunder, but boy oh boy did we get rain! I don't think I've ever heard it rain so hard. It was so loud, I suspect it would have masked the sound of any thunder we did get! Woke me up and kept me awake for awhile.

I just got a call from the medical equipment company. They are coming this morning to collect "the rack". I have mixed feelings. I won't get a chance to go any higher, but I DID make my goal of 110 degrees. And now I won't have to spend 2-4 hours a day lying on the sofa with my leg going up and down--woohoo, free time!:lmao:

My friend is coming to take me grocery shopping in a little bit. I cut my list in half by opting NOT to make Christmas cookies! So it will take me alot less time to shop today. I do have to get my turkey though, so he can start thawing in the fridge--supposedly he will take about 5 days, which brings us to Wednesday, which is perfect!

I'm tired. Wish I could go back to bed, but that's not an option. *sigh*

Morning all:

It's another beautiful sunny day...I can't believe how nice November has been...Except for yesterday when it poured all day.

Wendy ~ Hope you're feeling better...my H1N1 started with cramps etc. hopefully you're not coming down with that.

MK ~ Sorry I missed you checking in.

Marie ~ Great Wolf Lodge was great...I don't know if I would pay full price however it is pretty expensive...we go on a deal through the paramedics. The kids did have a blast.

DH just came back from the doc...his lungs are cleared!!! Looks like he'll be able to go back to work on Monday...Yay I may finally get my house back!!

Hope everyone has a good day.

Wendy---Glad you are rackless now. Do you still have special exercises to do or can you just do your normal stuff? Get that turkey thawed...

EV--glad the sickies are better. It does sound like a neat place to go...but then, aren't the best places to go the most expensive?

I have no special plans for the weekend. I need to make lists of what I need to do before vacation though. I think the bills are paid up. I just had my Disney rewards put on my card...that was fun! Goint to work on organizing clothes. I found some long sleeved tops in another closet...glad for that! They are ones I could not fit into for 2 years!

Enjoy the fall weather...

whgrn Hope you are feeling better. :flower3:
BKMETV Glad to hear your DH is better.

Pikester and M&N It's getting closer! :woohoo:

Just 12 days!!!!! It's coming fast!

I cleaned out drawers today. I have 2 empty ones now. I can put my sweats in them when I find them! :rotfl: I'm getting my socks ready...and some undies in piles. I have most of the clothes I want to take at Mom's. We're packing next Sunday!

Good luck with explaining cremation. I told both my boys back when my Beana passed that she was going to be cremated, which I explained aobut being burned and turned to ashes but she wouldn't feel it, etc. I told them that after that she would be in a little box and then buried in the ground. DS12 got it. DS8 thought that we were going to watch her be cremated, collect the ashes and then bury her. No wonder he refused to go to the ceremony. I didn't find out what he thought until after.

I can't believe we'll be leaving a week from tomorrow! 4AM baby!

The kids are also puzzled because Papa's family has chosen to keep the ashes at home in a special place of honor w/ Nana's. This is going to be a tough one to explain.

M&N - Thanks for the visual of you packing your undergarments. :lmao:
I am excited for you too. :yay:

JOCA - How are those TG dinner plans coming along? Menu yet???

Ev - So happy to hear that DH is finally getting better. Let the bleach party begin.

Hi, DL55 & LITC!!!:wave2:

Whgrn - Hope you are feeling better soon.

Kids had the day off today for parent/teacher conferences. Thank goodness it was a nice day so they could get outside.

Tonight we are having another Make Your Own Pizza night and will start watching some of the Christmas shows (Merry Madegascar, Shrek the Halls, etc) There are so many to see that we have to start early. Our holiday Christmas parade is tomorrow and deer hunting season starts Sat. Guess the season is in full swing now.

Good evening ladies!

The countdown is on. :woohoo:

D&D:Make your own pizza night sounds like fun. I'll have to try that sometime. What do you cook the pizzas on?

M&N: I plan on following your lead this weekend. I so badly need to clean out my panty/sock drawer. While I'm at it I plan on cleaning out all the other drawers too.

Ev: Glad you had a great time over the weekend and that your DH is getting better. I would be so nuts by now if my DH had been hanging around for as long as your DH has been. I know the poor man was sick but enough is enough!

JOCA: You're having a harder time staying up because you're getting old! :rotfl: It's been happening to me lately too.

DL55: I can't believe how close it is!:cool1:

LITC: Glad you were able to stop by; even for just a check in.

whgrn: I couldn't believe the rain we had here this morning! We all got drenched going to school and work; even with umbrellas.

DH did the online check-in tonight. He also preregistered our Photo Pass card and we have our Disney rewards card all loaded up. Everything is starting to come together!

Evening. It was a nice here today. Kind of cold for me but at least the sun was shining after all the rain we had last night.

whgrn, congrats on getting off the rack. It sounds as though your recovery is going well for you. Just think of all the free time you'll have to tend to your crops. :rotfl:

M&N, I can't believe you leave so soon. I hope you have a wonderful time.

Ev, I bet you are more excited about DH going back to work than M&N is about her trip. :rotfl2::rotfl2: I know when my husband is home for only 2 days, he drives me insane. I swear all he does is mess up my routine during the day. :rotfl:

D&DDisney, how is Disney doing? As for out menu, so far, we are having...

roast turkey
stuffing
mashed potatoes
rosemary redskin potatoes
broccoli marinara
corn
rolls
gravy

And for dessert, chocolate chip cookies, peanut butter cookies, pumpkin pie, black bottom cupcakes, chocolate caramel brownies, ice cream and maybe strawberry cheesecake.

I haven't decided on appetizers yet. There will be at least 12 of us for dinner and 3 of them are men with bottomless pits for stomachs. :lmao::lmao:

Good evening all. Where did the day go? Kids have been after me all day and I have hardly gotten anything at all done today. I did get around to cooking a really good supper. Of course, now I ate too much.

DS worked all day on a Powerpoint slide presentation as a school project. He will be taking it on the laptop with us on our trip to show the friends we will be visiting. The subject is the great state of Texas, especially our area, and is intended as a tool to help them decide to move here. (The dad is already wanting to.) He has had me in there off and on all day helping with ideas, statistics, photos and sitting in as a critic. I must say he really did a great job.

DD has been after me to decorate the house. I think she is getting antsy for the trip and is needing some sort of distraction. I gave her a WDW book for kids so hopefully that will help tide her over a few days.

For anyone who has been following along with my trip planning but might not have read my PTR......

Hallelujah!!!!!

My son's photo id card got here! Now I don't have to worry about running into a hard nosed security check person at the airport or whether we manage to get on the plane at DFW and run into problems on our return trip. He can get on the plane just like the rest of us.... no pat down or nothing.

So.... goings on around here....

Kitty, I hope you are finding a way to stay cool, get rid of your cough and enjoy yourself. Very wise of you. I don't think holding a grudge would end up hurting anyone but yourself. Sounds like a nice table. That's a big lantern!

Wow Pikster! It is almost time. Just noticed your ticker. A little over a week. 4 am! :scared1: Not sure I could talk anybody around here into that! Is everyone getting excited? Sounds like you are getting down to some of the really good part of planning!

Wendy, I hope you are feeling better! Bet you will manage just fine without baking those cookies. I never make any and we still manage to find plenty to eat!
I agree. Mental problems are no one's fault. Just saying Granny's story is complicated. We still love her and I am sure her son really does too.
Great to hear that you are doing so well. I bet you will be glad to get back to driving. Not much fun depending on everyone else so much. It is good that you had several people willing to help you out and support you... including the ex.

DL55, I said the same thing about not wanting to do Disney again in December but here I am again. The parks are so beautiful at that time of year. I am pretty sure after this year we won't do it again. You are right. It is a lot of pressure at this time of year. I am thinking next time maybe spring.... anyone ever been in early May?

D&D, DD is hoping for UP from Santa too. I am pretty sure she will get it. ;) I hope it is good. DS said he had several people tell him it was depressing. Guess we will have to judge for ourselves. I don't usually tend to agree with everyone else anyway.
Don't know if I have ever known anyone who was cremated so never had to deal with that one. Your kids will probably think about it this week and forget about it next week.... not the grandfather... just the cremation part. Pikester, no wonder DS did not want to go to Beana's funeral. Poor kid!
Looks like you had the same idea we did to start the Christmas season early. I tried to convince DD that we would be getting in most of our festivities while we were at WDW but I don't think she thought that was quite good enough. Merry Madegascar, huh? Any good? Must be one of the few we do not have.

LITC, so glad to hear that Walter is feeling a little better. It really stinks when babies get sick because they cannot tell you what is wrong. Give him plenty of hugs and kisses and that will help make him feel better.

M&N, EEEEWWWWW! Hairy butts are not cute! Lord help the occasional clueless person who stumbles upon our thread and shows up in the middle of some of our conversations! Anyway, maybe those little mouse noses are cute but still not something you want running around in your space.
I know about the Christmas decorations from DL but I imagine that it may be even more spectacular at WDW. I am especially looking forward to learning about the different ways Christmas is celebrated in the different countries at Epcot and the Osbourne Lights at DHS. Oh and I bet the castle in MK all lit up will be gorgeous!
Those 2 year olds can wear you out! Glad you had a fun time playing though.
I bet I could find some "new" clothes in my closet too but I am like Kitty.... kinda scared to go that deep in there. I don't think I would have the same success you did. Pretty sure everything I would find would be too small. Glad you were able to find some goodies that hopefully will work for your trip.

JOCAmom, sounds like the unpacking has gone well. I am sure you will be glad when it is all in place and you can just relax a bit.
After looking over your menu.... can I come to your place for Thanksgiving? I could fill up just off your dessert list! You would also probably be much better company than DH's family!

BKMETV, glad you had a nice time on your trip and glad everyone is on the mend. I agree with Pikester and JOCAmom. I can only take DH at home for only so long, no matter how sick he is. Maybe Eve's DH is a better patient than our DHs... or maybe it is that Eve is more patient than we are! :rotfl:

Guess that's it for tonight. The guys are ready to go play some shoot em up so I must do my part!
Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Oh my!!!!! Please tell me this is some sort of board/video game.

JOCA - That menu sounds soooo good. Like Marie said, I think we're comming to your house too.

Pikester - For "Make your own pizza" night, I buy some crust mix that you just add water to. Then I roll out each person's crust and put it on a cookie sheet. Depending on the size of the personal pizza, I can fit 2 on each sheet. Then I have a bunch of toppings ready to go and the kids decided what they want and how much. My only rule is you have to put at least 1 veggie on top, the rest is up to them. Kids usually choose tomatoes. It really is fun.

The weather is great today. Upper 50s and sunny so we are in the process of putting up the Christmas decorations outside. I won't do the inside until after TG.
We have one inflatable...(Our redneck Christmas decor).. Santa in a racecar (#25 of course) with elves as the pit crew. So cute. DH would love to have a bunch of these going around the house like a racetrack, but I had to limit it to one.

Only 25 days left!!!!!:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

mariezp Disney in early May is my favorite time! The Flower Show is going on (I can't remember the correct name at the moment). Love the topiaries. Plus there are mini concerts. You mentioned the Christmas customs of the different lands. We listened to a couple, I would have listened to more but DH wanted to go.
Hi D&DDisney We don't do inflatable decorations, we have enough trouble keeping the rocks from sailing away. :rotfl: We usually put up decorations TG weekend.

D&D, you silly goose! You ought to know that while some redneck types like their blow up race cars some of the rest of us prefer our shoot em up video games! I honestly do not know how I ever got suckered into playing. DS says we have been playing Counterstrike for about 3 years now over our network. It is one of the things he likes to do and something we can do with him. So.... you know, the sacrifices you make for your kids. By day I am a simple quiet housewife and mother.... by night... I help rid the world of terrorists. :lmao:
So how did the putting up of lights go? Did DH talk you into more race cars?
It is almost time for you to be packing too. Is everyone getting excited?

DL55, good to hear that May is a nice time to go. Not sure I would really like skipping going in the fall 2010 but it would probably be a good thing for our finances if we were to stall a trip my another 5 months or so. I hadn't thought about the flower show. I bet that is impressive. Might be a good trade off for missing Christmas decorations.

Shoot 'em up, huh Marie?!? Well goodness, who knew??:lmao::lmao:

D&D, we have 2 inflatables here. A Santa snowglobe (I just LOVE snowglobes!) and a nativity. Other than that we just do lights. I finally found red lights at WalMart today--I want to alternate red and white on my low bushes in the front yard. My BFF's "BIL" (for want of a better term for him, loooooooong story) is coming next Saturday to put up all my lights and stuff for me, since I can't do it this year. He's out of work and really really needs the money, and I need the work done, so it's a win-win situation. And after getting a quote from the "professionals" for $1300, whatever I pay him is gonna seem cheap!

Today has been a LONG day. Nothing really to do around here with the kids gone to their Dad's for the day. I took a shower, made banana bread, and read alot. But my BFF showed up and offered to take me to WalMart to get the lights and check on my bike. It's there, it's the right one, and it's in line for assembly next week! I may just have to ride it right out of the store!:rotfl2:

:scared1: Holy cow!!!! I'm in the wrong business. I'm going to tell DH how much money I am saving him each year by putting them up myself. :rotfl2:
I am happy to hear you are getting up and around. Take pics if you do ride that bike out of Wal-mart. :thumbsup2

I tease about the inflatables cuz there will be threads here on the Dis that will make fun of those who use them. I like ours but call it the redneck Christmas decor. because it is a race car. :rotfl2: You be the judge...
Oct-Nov005.jpg

Wow, Wendy! I wonder just who can afford those professionals and have any cash left for the other incidental Christmas expenses? I'd go with the BFF's BIL too! Red and white lights should be pretty.

D&D, I love the race car! The elves are a really cute touch.
I would probably get teased about my outdoor decor too. I use to have a whole herd of animated light up deer but every year I pulled them from storage about only half the lights would still be working. I finally decided the old blow mold type are the way to go. Only one bulb to replace. :thumbsup2

Hello.

whgrn, that is outrageous how much they would have charged you put up lights. :scared1: How many lights do you have to put up?

D&DDisney, I love your racecar. It is just so cute. Our house is on a hill so I'm not sure what kind of decorating we are going to do. I know DH wants to put up those icicle lights but I'd rather have something else. Almost everyone around here has them and I'd like to be the oddball. :lmao:

marie, it is funny what we will do for our kids. My youngest went through a phase when she wanted to be hair dresser. Let's just say, I am glad there are no pictures from that time period. :rotfl:

Hi DL55!!!

$1300 to put up lights? :faint: DH will be glad to know how much he's saving climbing on the roof. :) Would like to do lawn decorations but no one would see them as the front of the house has a solid fence.
JOCAmom Too bad there aren't any pictures. ;)
whgrn Oh a new bike for Christmas. :yay: Last time I got a new bike for Christmas was in college so I would have transportation. :cool2:
