Kitty , I bet you are getting so excited about your trip! I hope you have fun filling up the rest of your suitcase!
My DD's kitty went AWOL awhile back and showed up a week later. You are right.... she was lured in by hunger! Hopefully, your DK has better sense than to wait that long. I hope she turns up before you leave so you don't have to be worried about her.
My kitty escaped once and when I found her she got a little more than a talking to! I paddled her bottom a little because it scared me so bad. She did not take in to consideration that being a declawed kitty outdoors around here is like asking to be the next thing on a coyote or stray dogs lunch menu! We have it pretty bad. Anyway, she has never tried to escape again. We have a screened in porch that she stays on a lot so maybe that has help her to not feel the need to escape into "the wild".

BKMETV, I hate when that happens! I have also learned to copy everything before hitting the post button.
Kudos to you for walking for a good cause!

M&N, that girl sure was a bit ungrateful. I think your response was very tactful and also very true.
I have the stuff still in boxes from our move 6 years ago! :scared1:

wishsndreams, WELCOME! It's always good to see another face around here. This is a great bunch to hang out with. Feel free to post about Disney or anything else that is on your mind.

D&DDisney, School can be really rough. Kids can be so mean especially when they find a kid is vulnerable. I hope you are able to find a better counselor to help get him to better times.

DL55, that is pretty cool seeing the baby eagle. Did you get to see whales or any other wildlife?

Shmu, have a great trip!

lighttech, I would go with the lower one too! Maybe that's my problem too... my scales are all wonky!
You are right. Babies are so much easier! It is much more complicated when they are older.

The last few days for me have been some of my better days at communicating with my DS-18. He actually approached me and confided in me which is something he seldom does. He's been having a bit of girl problems so was filling me in on the latest development. It is no fun watching someone not treat your child like they should! Still, I am trying to be like my mom... listen and not offer too much advice unless asked. DH has a much harder time doing this. He has been offering his kind of advice like kick her to the curb, don't call her right away, make her come to you and various other tips along the same line, as if he was the expert where women are concerned. Oh, brother! Anyway, DS told me that it really aggravates him when dear old dad does this. I told him it is just because he loves him and does not like seeing him get hurt. Right now DS is not in a place where he is ready to move along even though there are some of us who wish he would. We are both guilty of trying to think of ways, or should I say girls, to distract him. Fast forward to today... DH and I had planned to go out to eat tonight at a place where this sweet girl we used to know from our homeschool group just happens to work. After giving some thought to the conversation from last night I decided I did not want to end up annoying him by trying to be sneaky so I decided it was best to fill him in a little bit. We ended up having a very cute conversation in which he said we were in collusion. However, I must have worded everything just right because he finally said he wouldn't mind going out to eat... as long as we didn't start dragging people to the table. So, obviously my best bet is to allow him to make the decision and if something comes out of it great and if not maybe we will at least find a good place to eat, which is something rare around here. Oh yeah, I seem to remember mentioning that I had always wanted to go eat there because I had heard they were supposed to have really good pie. (I really did hear this.) Doggone it! Guess I will just have to save room for dessert!

Good evening TKers!

First things first, a big
12.gif
to wishsndreams! We can get pretty rowdy around here sometimes but we are a good peoples.

DL55: I just have to say again how much I am enjoying your pictures! The Alaskan cruise looks like something that my Dad would enjoy but my Mom has an issue with the cold so I don't think one would every happen.

I see lighttech finally stopped by for a chat! Was happy to hear that the family is doing well.

Magikitty: I am so excited for you! I can't believe that you'll be at WDW in a matter of hours! That "darn cat" needs a little spanken on his sit down(That is what my Beana used to say when someone was acting up).

M&N: I checked out that thread and she doesn't seem to care that others are mentioning her "selfishness". She is now looking for other vacation ideas.

LITC: Baby Walter is just fine! No worries.:goodvibes It is nice to know that the Drs are keeping an eye on him though. Both my kids had an AWESOME PED until he retired a couple of years ago. Totally ticked me off that I had to find a new one for them. I think the Dr we have now is gonna work.

whgrn: Regarding EX being a friend on FB, when down below freezes over!

Hello to everyone else that I may have missed. You know I still love you all!

I shared on FB that yesterday DH and I celebrated our 15yr Anniversary. We went out to a wonderful dinner. DH had flowers delivered to the restaurant and they gave us a two person bottle of wine on the house. When the wait staff brought out our dessert they sang "Happy Anniversary to you" and honked a horn. Thank goodness the lights were dimmed so nobody could see my face all red. I think it was one of the best Anniversaries that we have celebrated so far!

Thanks for all the good wishes and prayers for DS. I'm going to continue to look for someone that is a good fit for him and our family. So hard to find a good counselor. Also, because DS has Reactive Attachment Disorder (RADs) it makes counseling that much tougher.

Oooh, I didn't know he had RAD. That's a hard one. DS definitely has some attachment disorder, but not full blown RAD.:hug::hug:

Hello. How was everyone's day?

We spent the night at the first ever carnival at my youngest kids' school. It would have been a wonderful time except my husband's ex's daughter goes to the same school. For some reason, the ex thinks we are like best friends. She spent half the night coming up to talk to us when all we wanted to do was hide.

Magikitty, I hope you have a great trip. Post lots of pictures for us.

Shmu, I hope you have a great trip too. I'll message you when you get back.

DL55, your pictures are so beautiful. And thank you for your thoughts on Carnival. If we change our plans, it would be for a 6-night cruise. And we would leave from port that is only 3 hours away compared to 18 hours to get to Port Canaveral (we always drive to FL).

D&DDisney, sending hugs and prayers your way for your son. I hope you can find a counselor that works for all of you.

wishsndreams, WELCOME!!! I'm pretty new here too and I must tell you, everyone has been so wonderful to me. Always so kind and so welcoming. I hope you'll come back too.

Good morning ladies! Had a kitty spotting this morning...she's moving closer to the house but still not on my doorstep. Early morning frost, me in a nightgown calling for an ungrateful kitty. Not a good way to start the morning. But I tried.

All packed, all checked-in, all excited to leave! I'll be back October 7. Shmu and I are still ironing out our plans, but we will definitely see each other!

Pikester! You know I'm not always on FB! happy anniversary to you and DH! Sounds like you had a magical evening...15 years is awesome! Congrats!

Marie, sorry DS is having such a time of walking the road to romance. Its so rough! And it hardly gets better with age, I'm afraid. I'm still trying to figure it out! But it sounds like DS has a good head on his shoulders and is smart enough to rely on you and DH for (some) advice. Big hugs to all of you. Its not a lot of fun, but it will get better.

I'll be back! I have some last minutes stuff to do....

Kitty, have a magical and safe trip! We want details and pictures when you get back!
Thanks for the comments on DS. He is a good boy and smart too so he will be fine. We all have to go through bumps in life. When you are a parent you want to fix everything for them and sometimes you just can't.

Bye Kitty! Have a wonderful time! Can't wait to see the food porn. Oh...and your other pictures too.

Pikester - Happy belated anniversary. Glad it was so wonderful.

Marie - It sounds like you are doing the right thing with your DS. He will make good decisions in the long run because of your influence. Keep doing what you are doing. It is so hard to watch the kids make their own decisions, especially when we have to watch them make bad ones. However, it is the bad ones that really teach the lessons and help them grow.

JOCA - Sounds like a really fun time at the carnival minus the ex. Bummer about the her thinking she's chummy w/ you. What's with the exes on this board lately???? All of them want to be friends again or something??? Wierd.

Looks like we may be off to find Halloween costumes for the kids today. With all the Halloween Express stores popping up all over, they want to go check it out. Plus, they want to go before everything starts being picked over. The theme this year seems to be Batman, but we'll see what they end up choosing.

Hello friends!

Today is looking to be a beautiful fall day here in NH. Lots of color on the trees and bright sunshine! I just had to water my hanging plants that are on my front porch and I am amazed they haven't been killed off by the cold weather we've had a few times this week.

DS11 is at his Karate Seminar and we just helped DS8 release his Monarch Butterfly. DH and DS8 went out looking for a catapiller a few of weeks ago and brought it home to feed in a large container that we have. The thing was huge all ready so it didn't take long for it to change into a chrysalis. We've been patiently waiting for it to hatch which it did yesterday while we were at work and school. What a beautiful butterfly we had! Have fun in Mexico Butterfly!

JOCAmom: Those darn Exes cans sure ruin and evening. Or at the very least make it uncomfortable.

marie: I am following your DS18 stories very closely. My oldest isn't into girls yet but I figure if I get all the information I can from those of you with older kids it will hopefully help me later on.

BKMETV: I love it when kids get involved in fundraising for a great cause. Cancer stinks and being that there are so many different types it's wonderful that there are people like you and your kids who want to help fund research.

Shmu: I'd like to help with an ornament also. I'd like to get your friend one from WDW on our upcoming trip but that won't be until the end of November so I would miss your party date. Does she have any favorite characters?

Have a good day everyone!

Hi all:

Well we're back from the shopping trip...proud owners of a BIG TV!! :happytv: DH is happy so I guess that's good. I have to say it does have a good picture.

Happy Anniversary Pike...sorry I missed it yesterday.

MK ~ Bon Voyage...have a great trip.

Hope everyone is having a great weekend.

TTYL

Today is DD's birthday--I cannot believe my baby girl is 14 already! BFF made her a giant cupcake--it was gorgeous! she made it from scratch so I could eat it too!

So this afternoon DD and I went out to test drive the Toyota Rav4. Loved it. So I just bought a brand new car with my American Express card! :lmao: Seriously! The difference between my tradein and the new car was a whopping $222, and even with tax and tags and the security etching it came to a total of a little over $900!!!! Talk about a no-brainer. Now I will have a brand new car that I actually LIKE--no more hybrid crap for me! Don't know yet when I will actually get it, but shouldn't take too long.

Good afternoon ladies! It has been a beautiful day here today! So much so that I was even enticed enough to get outside and do battle with the crab grass that is so eagerly trying to take over my front yard. Apparently walking sticks love the stuff as I have come across 3 lovely hybrid specimens in the course of trying to free my Bermuda grass from the evil invading weeds. So far it is still a tie on who is winning the fight. I do vow to be victorious!.... but it's gonna take me a few days to finish the job since my back has currently declared mutiny in response to stooping down all day. Thank heavens the guys are bringing pizza for supper! I think I may be able to stagger to the table.

So sad but true! Why is that???? I know many of my lessons I had to learn the hard way. Thankfully, I am soooo much wiser now! :lmao:
How'd your costume shopping go?

Pikester, I bet the fall colors are pretty up there. We have some leaves falling but they are not really pretty. I have always heard how beautiful the fall is in the upper states. Need to get myself up there someday to check it out!
How is your son doing in his Karate? My son lives and breathes his Jiu-Jitsu. Is it that way at your house? I can honestly say that martial arts was not ever one of the things I ever imagined my kids doing but it has turned out to be a really great thing. He has met some great guys and he was able to find something he really has a skill for.
That is really cool about finding your own caterpillar. We raised some from a kit one time but they were not Monarchs. I bet that one was really impressive!
Lordy, you may not want to take notes from me about raising my son! The younger years were fine but I pretty sure I tend to overreact and am way too over protective so his responses may not be that of a normal child! Not to mention that my tales may be rather skewed coming from my point of view. Just suffice to say that you will NOT like it when one of those females upsets your baby boy!

BKMETV, congratulations on the new TV. Not much can make a man any happier than if he has himself a big screen TV! I bet you will enjoy it too.

whgrn, don't they just grow up too darn fast! I hope your DD had a nice birthday.
Good for you on the new car. Sounds like you really got yourself a great deal.

Just stopping by quick to see how everyone is doing.

I had a very uneventful day packing. I also had to dig out all my kids winter clothes since it has gotten pretty chilly here. I had bought my 2 youngest some really cute capri pants for the beginning of school and it's almost too cold for them already. Last year at this time, we were wearing shorts and tank tops yet.

mariezp, as funny as this sounds, I am so looking forward to yard work. Since we have lived in an apartment for the past few years, we don't have to do any. And of course, we have no say in how it looks. Couldn't even have a garden. I'm sure my opinion will quickly change after I've spent a day out there tending to everything.

whgrn, Happy Birthday to your daughter. My oldest daughter will be 14 in February. I can't believe how quickly time has flown by.

BKMETV, I remember how happy my husband was when we bought our big screen tv. He loves it....I think more than me. :rotfl2:

:banana:YAY!! A NEW CAR!!

Oh I'm pretty sure I'm second place to the TV!!

Hi everyone!
Happy Birthday to all those I missed.

whgrn A new car for only $900 more? :woohoo:

More pictures of our land portion tomorrow.
Have you ever wished that you had a rich relative to leave you an inheritance? (not that you would wish someone dead). Well my DH had a 2nd cousin (that he didn't know about) die without a will. It was around a million. Unfortunately, they divided the initial estate evenly between maternal and paternal side. DH's side (maternal) really took to heart to go forth and multiply. ;) So his share was just under $8000. I told him not to pout, it was still more than he ever expected. You can give us ideas of what to do with it if you wish. We already plan to put it into our IRAs and redo our deck.

Woo hoo!!!!:woohoo: Big TKer party at WDW compliments of DL55!!!:banana: Seriously, I am so happy for you both. That's fantastic. I say, after saving some for retirement, spend it on something you've always wanted. Something special!
I am quite sure that we're not up for any inheritance. Even from our parents. And, in a way, that is just fine w/ me. The money would cause more grief among family and that I can do w/o.

Whgrn- Happy birthday to your DD! And congrats on buying the new car. :cool1: By the time my cars get to trade-in time, they are worth very little. We drive the snot out of them and (except for this year) don't buy them new. You must post pics!!!!::yes::

Ev- Congrats on the new big screen TV! Sorry you are now second place to the thing.

Its very very very
28_2_9.gif
here today and the temps should fall this week to highs in the upper 50s. I am not ready for this at all. :sad2:

Costume shopping went well. I now have a Batman and Joker in my house. Holy cow, are costumes expensive!!!!:scared1: What happened to those $10 type we used to buy when I was younger. You know...the ones with the plastic mask and plastic dress you just tie on???:rotfl2: The good thing is my kids love to play dress up with costumes and will get a ton of use out of these throughout the year.

Looks like we may be in the market for a new car before long too. On the way home from church the dash in the car started smoking. We appear to have a short or something wrong in the wiring. DH managed to pull a few fuses and we made it home okay. It was nice to see human kindness at work. We did have 3 men pull over and ask if we needed help. Here's hoping our neighbor can find the problem otherwise it will be off to the car dealership for a no doubt hefty repair bill. I am still smelling that nauseating electrical smoke. :crazy2:

Aside from that it is a beautiful day outside. We had a good church service and a nice fellowship meal afterwards. On a side note, it is always interesting when you have a visiting song leader. The one we had today made me sure appreciate our usual song leader! This one had a big, nice voice but I think he would have been more suited for a staged musical production that our tiny little church. Oh well, he was a lot better than if they did something.... like say put me up there to sing!

JOCAmom, I am glad you finally have a chance to have a garden in your new yard. I do enjoy working in the yard. Usually tends to be my alone time. Nowadays though my old body tends to like yard work less and less which is leading me to make sure to plant only the hardiest of plants which need the least amount of attention. I hope your green thumb turns out to be better than mine!

DL55, congratulations on the extra cash flow. Surprises like that are really nice.

D&DDisney, I am not even sure our costumes even cost $10. We always made up something. I can remember one year I was an old beggar lady and another year I was a bride.

Okay...be honest with me. Do I give off some kind of anti-social vibe or something????:confused3 Or, does my invite just get lost in the mail??

Whgrn- By the time my cars get to trade-in time, they are worth very little. We drive the snot out of them and (except for this year) don't buy them new. You must post pics!!!!::yes::

I ususally keep my cars alot longer too. This time I just couldn't stand the thought of having the hybrid another 2-3 years (yes, I hate it THAT much!), and when I looked into the idea, I found out how much I'd get on a trade and said "ooh, a new car almost for free!" I will now keep this one for a good long time. I hope to get it in the next couple weeks. I will definitely post pix!

Okay...be honest with me. Do I give off some kind of anti-social vibe or something????:confused3 Or, does my invite just get lost in the mail??

Oh no, what happened??? You certainly don't seem antisocial to me!

Hi everyone, just got back from a weekend in Buffalo introducing Walter to my husbands side of the family, Sure is exhausting taking a 3 week old on a trip!

Mariezp--- I saw that about that baby to, my question is, WHY ON EARTH would they let a baby get so big?
Walter really wasn’t eating well, but he is getting better. Especially the last two days, I’m nursing constantly!
Glad to hear that your DS felt like he was able to talk to you. I hope in 18 years Walter feels the same way about me.

Kitty- Sorry I missed you, but don’t worry Walter got his smoochies from his TK Aunt Bobbie!!

M&N - I started that thread, but there was no way I was gonna finish it.

Wishsndreams - Welcome, sure hope you stick around with us. Everyone on here is awesome, so again welcome.

D&Disney - Gosh I am so sorry to hear about the trouble with your DS. I really truly hope you guys can work through it. Trust your instincts on the therapist. I had to do therapy as a kid and mine really never listened to me so it never did help that much.
Also- thanks for the well wishes for baby Walter!

DL55- amazing pics keep them coming!
Congrats on the money. Sounds like investing part is pretty wise!

Race-- Happy birthday wherever you are! We love you and miss you like crazy!

Lighttech - Thanks I am definitely learning to trust my mothers instinct!! And Walter is starting to eat better so I am even feeling better now.

Ev - that is amazing that you all have raised SO much money for cancer. I’m proud of you!

Pikester-Thanks for the kind words. Baby Walter is so awesome, I KNOW he’ll be great! I LOVE the pediatrician we found. I was already worrying that he may retire. I mean he doesn’t seem very old or anything, but he did mention he had a daughter start college this year. He really doesn’t look much older than me though! Glad to hear you have a doctor that you like also. It is SO important.
And a very happy anniversary to you, that is SO cool, my DH and I had our 10 year anniversary on 9-25! What a way to celebrate, having out newborn baby turn 3 weeks old!!

JOCAmom-- wow that sucks about the carnival. You must be nicer than me, as I probably would have mentioned that we’d rather be left alone!!!

Wendy--congrats on the new car. That is awesome news. We tried a week ago to go look at vans. I really don’t think it is going to happen. I thought everyone was supposed to be wheeling and dealing right now, but they sure weren’t trying to help us out at all. And gee whiz, they could see we had a newborn with us. We really need one to so I don’t know what to do. I’m just going to try and not worry about it for a few weeks and see.
And a happy birthday to your DD.

Good Morning TKers:hippie:

I messaged everyone back that sent me a message about the ornament. I forgot to mention the ladies name though. Her name is Debbie. I'll keep ya posted on how the Christmas shower goes.

D&D  hang in there about DS. Oh, and you are invited to any party or get together I have. Hey, you have my address now.:thumbsup2

Marie - yay for communication:cool1: Sorry about your car.

Pikester - Happy Anniversary. Glad it was special. Oh, and I think Debbies' favorite character is Eyeore.

whgrn - Happy Birthday to DD and congrats on new car.

bkmetv - OK, I'm coming over to watch the football games on your new tv.

JOCAmom - wow, already getting cooler. I do not feel like I even had a summer this year.

DL55 - I am enjoying your pics. Oh, and I like D&D's idea PARTY

Livininthecastle - rough traveling with a little one.

I probably won't sign in again until I get back from our trip. I am SOOOO excited.

I'll make sure I post pics when I get back.

Take care everyone.:hippie:
