TKers Take the Fifth!

Maybe I should copy your crying Mickey and say he's sad because he wants to cruise again.
The kids will love the towel animals they make and leave on your bed.
I took all kinds of pictures...even the food. I have a pic of some design on the rug! I knew I wanted to make an ABC scrapbook of the cruise.

I've been spending a lot of time of the Cruise Board here.

I think that is really neat about your servers. We are going with my dad and stepmom and they are both picky eaters. Did you find the food to "adventurous"? I looked at some of the menus for the ships and a lot of things seems to have this kind of sauce or whatnot. If they asked, do you think they would prepare their steak or chicken plain?

Just had to chuckle. I posted in thread from a new 1st gr teacher yesterday. She had taught 3rd. I went back to see if her second day went smoother. Some of those posters have no idea how trying it is to be in charge of so many little ones. They think they should know the rules and how to do things...just because they were in kdg and preschool? Being in an all day situation is very different. Plus those guys haven't been in school for several months...think some aren't nervous? New teacher...new students in the room? Some suggestions were that repetition was important but some posters seemed to think the kids would get it right away. Oh well...

I'm sure they would do it without the sauces or whatever. Some of it just sounds stranger than it really is. Try it---if you don't like it they can bring you another choice. There's a good variety. There's another place you can eat too if you don't want the dining room you are assigned to that night. There's a place for pizza. There's a beverage station you can get soft drinks from whenever during the day. Right around the corner from that is a self serve soft ice cream machine. Hint---make floats! We took them to the movies. You do have to pay for snacks that are right outside the place where the shows are but we never did that...not hungry! The only way to get Mickey Ear ice cream is room service...they are free but you do have to tip.

OH, I didn't know they would bring you something else if you didn't like what you ordered. That's good to know. I'm not worried about myself. I love trying new foods. I just know how set in their ways my dad and stepmom are.

I might have to put a limit on the soft serve ice cream machine with my oldest daughter. She would eat it all day long if I let her.

My youngest just started Kindergarten this year. She has a wonderful teacher and I am so thankful for that. But it seems as though many teachers don't get any support from parents. It sounds as though that teacher just needs an adjustment period.

I have to say goodnight. It's been nice chatting with you.

Just a quick stop to say hello! Thank you ALL for the wonderful well wishes. Life sure has changed and it is SO much for the better! In regards to the kisses question, I'll round my estimate off to a hundred billion zillion....!!!
Gonna run for now, Walter and I are sitting together watching Golden girls!!!

Good morning everyone on this sad anniversary. Too many were taken on this day. Heaven welcomed so many angels.

Nice to see you LITC! How is the baby? Did he like the Golden Girls? ;)

Hey there JOCA'smom! Oh....planning a cruise. Sounds wonderful! Are you taking advantage of the kids sail free promo? With six of you, can you get adjoining rooms?

I was always amazed by how many people wanted to be kindergarten teachers. While adorable, it must be so hard! All those little ones adjusting to new people, new schedule, going to school all day! But gosh they're cute...

I think my sleeping habits are due to my ADRs! :scared1: I woke up today about 4 thinking that maybe I should change my Tokyo Dining ressie to Morocco. While I love Japanese food, especially free Japanese, Morocco is really the only place we haven't eaten at---we're not interested in China or Mexico. But then I realized that I enjoy Morocco CS just fine and I'm going to keep Japan. Silly me...

Big hugs to all of you today, as always.

Morning all:

Well we've survived the first week back...slowly getting my house back into some order. Today the schools do their annual PEACE WALK...appropriate being Sept 11th.

Keeping change is really a great tip. I hoard my quarters for the tolls in Florida (no EZ Pass there!) It really adds up! $200 is amazing...think of it as a plane ticket in change!

We have $1 and $2 coins now so they add up real fast.

Yep, broke the screen and motherboard and even cracked the DVD/CD holder on the side, she did it with so much force.
Poor DD she was stunned to say the least. They basically had to replace to whole computer. Thank goodness when we bought it we got insurance but still DD had to pay for that coverage.
This child, whose parents are very nice BTW, is just mean/willfull. She has to always be right, argues with adults(that don't fly here) and DD has tried to be friends with her but, this is not the first spiteful thing she has done to her.
I have told DD to cut her loose because the friendship was hurting her at school-sorry but you are known by the company you keep. It was sad because last Friday the girl called and wanted DD to sleepover and DD said if she didn't go no one else would. She didn't go-clean break.

Did this kid's mother not offer to pay?

OK Ladies,
TMI, maybe but I think that maybe this weekend, since DH will be gone, DD and I will have "the talk" she has asked questions, she talks about periods with both of us already and may/may not know most of it but, doesn't know our values or other aspects of this.
I have talked about this to other kids before:teacher: but, am strangely nervous about talking to my own kid.:confused3:rotfl::confused3 She is level-headed but, I don't want to weird her out.
Any advice from experience or having older children?
What to avoid/stress would be things I need to know.

Was given these websites for when I got around to the talk...you might find something useful on them: sexualityandu.ca & teachingsexualhealth.ca. These are both Canadian sites, which might be a little more liberal than the U.S. ones...but there are probably lots of American ones as well.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY:

Some people are like Slinkies. They're really good for nothing. But they bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs.

I won't ask if anyone comes to your mind from this thought!

:lmao:

LITC...kiss Walter for me too!!

JO ~ Glad to see you stopped by again! We love new friends.

Hey Pike, D&D, DL55 and Sukie.

Kitty---Chill! You are going to get grey hairs from all this and we've already discussed that! Just think...if you don't like what you have this time---you just won't pick it the NEXT visit!!! Because we all know there will be a NEXT visit! :woohoo: You will get to sample lots of different things at the F&W festival too. Aren't there countries that do not have pavilions? I just remember there were lots of choices. You can also split the food with bf if you want to and get more things. You will really have a great time I know! Take pics og the little buildings they have set up to sell the food--really unique I thought. Also pics of the food of course! One thing I really liked...you could try things you maybe would not want to waste an entire meal on. I'm excited for you...it's getting closer...:yay:

It's a rainy Friday...maybe 2 in of rain...I guess you are getting it in NJ and NY too...guess it'll make it up to Pikester and Sukie too.

Yes this is a sad day but it's also one to stop and be thankful for our freedoms we enjoy in this wonderful country of ours. No matter how much we complain, it's the best place to be!

Someone's butt is about to be in a sling from what I can see on CNN. I guess the Coast Guard was having a training exercise on the Potomac River, near the Pentagon while the President was giving a speech. Shots were fired and everything! Supposedly the government didn't know about it but the CG says they did. Heads will be rolling! The press is wound up!

LITC---Hi new Mommie. Hope little baby is eating and sleeping lots. Are you able to put him in his bed to sleep or are you still holding him and staring at that little cutie? I think I would be the rock and hold and play with fingers kind of mommie. Don't forget to read to him. I was a librarian and it's not too soon to have him listen to stories. I don't think he's ready for Harry Potter yet but Goodnight Moon is good! Give us more pics---if you take any more! ;)

MagiKitty Relax! ;)
POCAmom My DH is what I consider a picky eater (beef and potatoes). He never has a problem finding something to eat.

I've downloaded my pictures. Only took 493! I've already deleted three, so only 490 to decide to edit or leave alone. I feel I'm cheating if I adjust the pictures. :guilty:

Hi M&N, Pikester, BKMETV, and LivinInTheCastle!

Whew! Took awhile to catch up here! Y'all have been busy as usual.

LITC that boy is just too darned cute. I'd be kissing him a gazillion times too.

MK, take a deeeeeep breath, now relax. The world will not end if you make the "wrong" ADRs! You can always "fix" it next time!

JOCA, on a cruise, it has been my experience that they will pretty much give you anything you want as long as they have it available. So if you need something without the sauce, it should be no problem at all. I know someone who went on a cruise and ordered lobster every single night--and he got it too! You will be so pampered you won't know what to do with yourself!

I know there was more I wanted to comment on, but my brains are fried. Sorry I've been AWOL, but it's just been a crazy busy week, and I wasn't getting notifications, and somehow managed not to check out our thread. OOOOOPS! I'll be gone all day tomorrow and much of Sunday, but I'll be back, so don't send out the search party just yet.:lmao:

BTW, I think we've had about 3 inches of rain today. I am looking for my oars...

Thank you for the advice on the cruise food. None of us have ever been on a cruise so we have tons of questions. I hope you don't mind if I bend your ears once in a while.

DL55, I can't wait to see some of your pictures.

We had lots of rain here too. Very cold and windy. It was terrible when I had to walk my little girls to school this morning.

I spent most of the day reflecting. I can still remember the events of 9/11 like it were yesterday. Talked a lot about it with my older daughter. She was only 5 when it happened and much too young to understand what was going on at the time. Now that she is older, she has formed her own opinion about everything and it is kind of cool to hear her perspective.

I watched several things, both online and on TV, remembering 9/11. It always gets me, but one video just reduced me to tears. It was really powerful.

As long as I live I will never forget that day, that perfect, clear, blue skied, sunny day, coming out of the grocery store and turning on the radio and hearing that a plane had hit the WTC. WHAT?!? What kind of idiot is piloting a plane that can't see the huge building in front of his face? Good grief!

And then we heard about the second plane. And I knew. I knew this was no accident, and I knew our country would never be the same again. I went home and sat glued to the TV. When the Pentagon was hit, I nearly fell to the floor. I prayed like I've never prayed before, for our country to be saved.

I remember the days afterwards, when everyone pulled together. People lined up for blocks to donate blood. Flags flying everywhere, some drawn by hand becuase you couldn't find them in the stores. People talking to each other, even to strangers. We weren't black or white. We weren't Democrats and Republicans. We weren't this or that. We were Americans. We stood together to send a message to the cowards who attacked us. We stood in support of those who died, of those who lost loved ones, of those who made the ultimate sacrifice for others.

My kids talked about it at school today "a little bit". They were too young to really understand when it all happened. They were too young to remember. But I remember. I will never forget. WE must never forget.

God Bless America

Such a somber day of remembering. A day that I felt patriotism like no other. I had just found out I was pregnant w/ DS7. A pregnancy we NEVER thought would ever happen. (Had tried for this for 9 years) Then 9/11 hit and I my joy turned to terror as to what type of world I was bringing my baby and 3 year old son into.
I was working in the tallest building in WI on the 43rd floor at the time, as a computer trainer. I was always scared of coming to work in this building, wondering how everyone would get out in a fire. We watched on our computers as the terror unfolded. Then shortly after 10am we were told they were letting everyone in the building go home cuz they were worried other buildings would become targets. :sad2:
I went home, picked up my DS3 and was just glued to the TV, holding him near. If I had not been pregnant at the time, I swear I would have run down to the recruiters office and signed up to fight these monsters. (And I had always hated war - up until this moment)

Shortly after that day, I made a decision to take my career in a new path. I decided to go back to teaching elementary school.

Never forget the feeling you had that day!

Well, today was not a very productive day in ye old household but really who cares! We finally got a good rain this morning. I woke up to the sounds of the cat squalling outside on the screened in porch. She was most appreciative when I opened the door and she was able to escape the big scary rain.
We have a funeral to go to tomorrow so I guess that is why it has started raining. Strange how it always knows when to be a gloomy day. My friend's mother passes away Wednesday evening. DH is going to be one of the pallbearers. DD thought we said he was going to be a polar bear.

Pikester, it is tough deciding whether or not to do the park hoppers. I was going to but then decided not too. We should be okay unless one of the parks other than MK really impresses us in a big way. I have read that you can always upgrade later so if we decide we need PHs we will just do it while we are there. If not, we will just save a few dollars. Maybe that would work for you too instead of having to decide now. We will have to go over our itineraries when we get them all worked out and see if there is a good time and place to cross paths.... maybe wave at each other as we drive down the road?

Kitty, I don't mean to be a night owl. I just get interrupted a lot during the day so the evening is finally my time to play. You know how fast time passes when you are having fun! No one around here goes to bed at a normal time but we don't really keep normal hours anyway. Don't forget also that I am in a different time zone from most everyone so I am not really up all that late.
Thanks for the Pinecone e-mail. I made my response and they sent me another e-mail today.
It is wonderful that you have such a sweet and caring soul but if there is any chance your BF would get upset I think I would have to consider his feelings over wanting to save someone a few bucks. Maybe just concentrate on you and him. You can always help someone out in some other way at some other time.
We don't pick up people generally but I know my father used to. Of course that was many, many years ago when it was so much safer. I did however share my sleeping car with a woman who was traveling alone when we got the big 24 hour delay when traveling with Amtrak years ago. I was in such a tizzy and I had my family with me. I could only imagine how upsetting if must have been traveling alone for her. She was very sweet and I enjoyed her company. In the end it all worked out okay. It is an amazing feeling to help someone out. Just be careful now days if you do.

Bopsmom, did the girls mom not even offer to pay to have your DD's computer repaired? That certainly would have been the first thing she should have done... and then taken it out of the girl's backside.
Good luck with "the talk". I kinda like your DH's advice! :thumbsup2 Honestly, it does make you nervous talking about that sort of stuff to your own kids. I have been there and done that with my son. D&DDisney, my DH was a big old chicken too! I remember my son going to him and he just laughed about it and shrugged it off so I had to step up and do the job. I can't even tell you what I said because I was so nervous it was all a fog! I seem to recall something about waiting until you are married.... at least I hope I got that in there. Thank heavens he was great about the whole thing. Just asked a few questions and he was satisfied. I am sure he has educated himself way beyond what little I shared with him back then. Maybe we could all just have Pikester come to our house. It doesn't sound like she leaves out anything! ;) My DD will be up for the talk before long. I do need to make sure I don't miss anything!

M&N, I loved the slinky THOUGHT FOR THE DAY!

DL55, patiently waiting to see those pictures.... popcorn:: I always thought it was like cheating too if you edit pictures but my step-DD is a semi-professional photographer and she says she edits almost all her pictures and that most photographers do. Go figure. All this time I thought the pros had actual talent! Come to find out some of them just know their way around Photoshop!

JOCAmom, how is your cruise planning going? I've never taken a cruise. Do you really have to do much planning or is everything pretty much taken care of for you?

LITC
, how's little Walter and the new mom doing? Did you ever imagine you could love something so much? They certainly make you see things in a whole new light.

BKMETV, glad you are readjusting. Looks like you were saving up to beat me at Wordscrapper!

Hi whgrn, I remember watching all the 9/11 news reports too. I can still remember it sending shivers down my spine. DH has a friend who lives in NY and was there to see it. Hard to understand how and why things like that happen.

Good morning! Its still icky and gray here, but at least it stopped raining. I swear, the Mother Nature was mourning 9/11 too. It rained all day yesterday and was so somber.

D&D...your story about your 9/11 gave me shivers. Everyone's world flipped over that day...

My younger nephew is 12. He doesn't remember the Twin Towers when we drive to the City. He can't comprehend the enormity of those buildings. We look at the Empire State Building and we tell him that there were two skyscrapers even taller than that and they came down in a tragic way. Its just so humbling.

Marie...what time zone are you in? I know Texas is huge...are you central or mountain? Duh, I never thought that you were in a different zone.

We're not hopper people either. But then again, BF and I are horribly lazy and don't like the bus system. Once we're in a park, we stay there! We just find someplace to relax and recharge...although I am tempted to hop him just coz I have an AP and the fee would only be for him....

Two weeks from today we're leaving! :cool1::cool1: I tried, I really did, to not play with ADRs. but we were talking last night (actually I was talking, he was ignoring me watching tv) and we decided since we're staying at the airport anyway, we'll just head over to Cape Canaveral on our first day. We're going to take the casino cruise. It goes out on the water for four hours. We will gamble, but we'll mostly stay out on deck and enjoy the water and the entertainment.

I had to change our ADR for that night, since with checking in and getting our stuff sorted we'd probably miss it. So I switched us to Raglan Road later in the week after La Nouba. We ate there last year and really liked it. This year we're hoping to catch the dancer.

Oooh! DL55 can't wait to see pictures! Did you see the info that Disney will be sailing out of Vancouver now for an Alaska cruise? Its very very tempting for me. I could just pop in and see the relatives and tour a few days then get my Disney fix AND go on my first cruise! I won't ask the BF yet though, he's still afraid I'm going to pick up random strangers on the way to Cape. (which I would never do).

I've given up offering to help people to Sea World. While it would have been nice, logistically I'd only be able to get them there, as we have plans after the park to go elsewhere...my heart was in the right place. I'm sure there'll be plenty of opportunities to help someone out!

Let's have a good day everyone! Has football started yet? Its great football weather here...the leaves have just a touch of color on them.,

After today I now know what all of you have been going through with all the rain. It has rained here all day! What a day for a funeral. We left here at 1:00 and finally made it home around 6:00. They delayed starting because of the rain... just in case some people were driving slow. Then, after the service, we headed out to the cemetery ahead of the crowd. We had to wade through the water to get back to our car! Meanwhile, back at the church it turned out that my friend, who is diabetic, obviously has not been taking care of herself because she passed out and the paramedics were called. After quite some time the rest of the procession showed up and the graveside service was held. Talk about a long day.
On the way home we did notice one of the local restaurants was open. DH was obviously in a good mood and hungry so he treated us out to dinner. The place is called Go-Go-Gumbo and it was much better than the last time we were there. Lots of seafood choices which is nice. Maybe we can save ourselves an 8 hour drive the next time we get a craving for seafood!

Kitty we are in the Central time zone. You are correct. Texas is a big state. When we take trips out of state the majority of our driving is spent just getting out of Texas.
Your 2 weeks will be up before you know it. Sounds like a few changes will work out well for you. Funny as you get more time to think about it how your plans evolve from one thing to another.
I figure mine have time to change at least a few more times. So far everything is coming together really great. I was up at 5:00 this morning and got my Hoop-De-oo ADR right off the bat. I was really pleased that I could book online. Again, it took me all of 5 minutes. I only have 3 more ADRs to go and I will be done with that.

I read this morning that John Depp will be starring again in the 4th Pirates movie which will come out in the summer of 2011. He's also going to be Tonto in the Lone Ranger. That's going to be a total change of character.
