TKers Take the Fifth!

Marie, you don't ever have to ask to rant. Just go ahead. Honestly, at ANY sign of blood (or any body fluid), you get a free pass to stay at home and someone has to take care of you. I'm glad that bloody nose has stopped. Take it easy this evening. Make everyone suffer for even contemplating making you go somewhere when you don't feel well.

My friend who is coming up (and apparently will now be my guest on Millionaire) is far more into dolls than I am. He, like you, likes to root hair and make costumes. I'm not nearly that patient. I just like to look at them.

Have you seen any of the reborns? They sell them on Ebay. I want one SO SO badly! But they are crazy expensive, and I just can't justify spending that much on a doll at the moment....

Reading about Presidents right now....after this, I'm reading the Kid's Almanac and the Guiness Book of World Records. I also need some chocolate as a coping mechanism.

Good afternoon! Rainy and grey here, very humid. My hair is enormous with all the humidity in the air.

I am so impressed by the kids' books I took out from the Library. Seriously, they rock! I think every kid I know is going to get the World Almanac for Kids this holiday season. It really has invaluable information. I know, I know, there is something called the internet. But it really is a great book.

Older, foolish nephew called last night. I guess their neighbour called my brother about my initial attempt to break in yesterday. That same neighbor offered to try to open the door for me last night. So I drove back to my brother's house, where I met Paul, who apparently is a local DJ on the radio. He too had difficulty opening the door, but he did get and I ran like a madwoman through the house to shut off the alarm, which I did manage to shut off. So, I did manage to get Nephew's passport, which I have to overnight express to him tomorrow morning. I'm sending him a bill for it. Seriously, he's been a distraction during the all important cram time.

Have a good day everyone!

We're back!

Hershey was fantastic!:woohoo:

DC was awsome! :thumbsup2

Driving was rough. No break downs like with the old van (thank God!) but boy all that driving makes me not want to see the inside of a car for days!!!!

I'll try to catch up later and put together some sort of trip report. But for now just need to unpack and clean up - mainly this :laundy:.

If someone can recap things for me so I'm not out of the loop, that would be great. I tried to check on the Dis from the campgrounds but the Wi-Fi was sooooo slow....that I couldn't read more that a page w/o getting frustrated. :headache:

Found out I didn't get the jobs I was trying for:sad1: so its back to resumes on Monday.

Hope all is well in TKer land!

Don't have all the pics uploaded yet, but I did want to share the TKer adventures with us...

Greetings from Scotland!!

OMG I cannot believe how much I had to pay for internet access! So I've got 24 hours, until about 8 pm tomorrow--that way it covers 2 seperate days.

Anyway, I cant believe how many kilts I saw yesterday!!! They were everywhere, in every style and type. It was awesome. I had a blast. Today it was COLD so I ended up wearing a sweater, my jacket, AND my trenchcoat! It rained overnite so I skipped day 2 at the park and spent the day at the Museum of Scotland instead. Came back to the hotel for dinner and to relax, as my feet are killing me. Thankfully no leg cramps last night.

Trying to find a good spot for TKer pix. Maybe I will find a guy in a kilt to hold you all up for a photo.

I will start writing my trip report and post it here when I can.

See ya!!

Yeah! Glad to hear my friends have travelled safely and had a good time so far!

Wendy, if you're going to get someone to hold Flat Me, can you find a redhead? You know how I like them...it may be my only chance!

D&D....cannot wait to hear about the rest of your trip. I totally understand about not wanting to see the inside of a vehicle after a long drive! Sorry about the job, but there's one around the corner for you, I just know it!

Really, there's not that much to catch up on. Same old, wonderful friends living our lives! thank goodness, no major issues to worry about. Marie did have a bloody nose....Racetrack's DH's boss is being a big jerk. LITC is having wrist issues, but has diagnosis and is contemplating therapies. Shmu is still rockin college.

I'll have to go back and check the rest. Big hugs from me to you!

Good afternoon ladies! YAY, D&D is back and whgrn has arrived safely at her destination! We flat Tkers are going to be one well traveled bunch! Now I can say I have been to Hershey.

Well, glad to say that my nose hasn't given me any trouble today and I am not feeling the need to rant at the moment. Earlier today it seemed as if DH and I were having one of those "get on each other's nerves" days but I just decided to ignore him instead of letting him get to me.

Kitty, I have seen the reborns on ebay. Some of them are beautiful but just a word of caution from someone who learned the hard way.... be sure you buy one from someone who has LOTS of positive feedback. Photos can make some things look better than they actually do in person. I bought one probably 5 years ago and it was terrible. I am generally not hard to please but it was sooo bad I had to send it back and request a refund. It made me feel horrible to tell the lady that her work was no good but I figured it was for her own benefit for me to try to diplomatically tell her that she needed to improve her skills before selling dolls before someone else got a hold of her and ripped her to shreds.
My head would explode if I had to fill it up with the stuff you have been reading! Now totally useless information... it comprehends well.
Your DN should be very grateful to you for getting his passport! He also should be ashamed of himself...... what if he leads you to explore a life of crime with your newfound breaking and entering skills if Millionaire does not pan out? ;) No need to worry about that though cause Kitty's gonna blow right through those questions, right! :thumbsup2

Gotta run. I will leave you with these thoughts....

Are you tired of those sissy 'friendship' poems that always sound good, but never actually come close to reality? Well, here is a series of promises that actually speak of true friendship. You WON'T see cutesy little smiley faces
on this- just the stone cold truth of our great friendship.

1. When you are sad,
I will jump on the person
who made you sad
like a spider monkey
jacked up on Starbucks!!!

2. When you are blue,
I will try to dislodge
whatever is choking you.

3. When you smile,
I will know you are
plotting something naughty
that I must be involved in.

4. When you're scared,
we will high tail it out of here.

5. When you are worried,
I will tell you horrible stories about how much
worse it could be until you
quit whining, ya big baby!!!!

6. When you are confused,
I will use little words.
EVEN IF YOU AREN'T BLONDE

7. When you are sick,
stay away from me
until you are well again.
I don't want whatever you have.

8. When you fall,
I'll pick you up
and dust you off--
after I laugh my butt off!!

This is my oath...
I pledge it to the end.
'Why?' you may ask;
-- because you are my FRIEND!

***********************
Friendship is like peeing your pants,
Everyone can see it,
BUT only YOU can feel the true warmth.

Evening!

Welcome back D&D!!!! You'll have to give us all the details of your trip.

Wendy, glad you made it to Scotland safe and sound. Did ya take any pics yet? Well, did ya? How long till you get back?

Marie, you just made my DD13 burst out laughing. Now that is our kind of friendship poem. And don't ever ask if it's ok to vent here. I found that here is the safest place to vent. :grouphug:

MK, you are the queen of Aunts. I hope you are busy thinking of some repayment from your Nephew. Some gross and hard job that you hate doing would be fair.

Just checking in...Glad us Flatters are in Scotland!

D&D---get that laundry done so we can get our trip report! We'll cut you a little slack. Sorry about the jobs---keep looking. You're such a sweet person---someone's going to care about that and see how you would be a perfect match for them. What did the boys like best in DC?

LITC---take care of that wrist. You can leave a blank post so we know you'r there!

Marie---Just loved that friendship ditty! Had to copy and send it off. Thanks for sharing...

Kitty---The Kid's Almanac is good. Kids love reading that stuff. There's a series called Eyewitness Books that are very popular too. They are tall, white books. They are on all kinds of things from dinosaurs to knights. Lots of pictures and captions. Do people who loose things kind of gravitate towards you. Edward seemed to have problems too in that area! At least the neighbor didn't call the cops on you!

Pikester: Glad you are helping Sukie through the packing. It's always hard to think about what to take and what NOT to take. Lists are good!

Gotta get moving---Hey Lighttech, Racer, and whoever else is out there...

Hi everyone!
I'm back from my camping trip. Nothing like not having electricity or water to make you appreciate them. It was nice, we were the only ones in the campground. Of course there was only 3 spaces. We also camped for free..so we only had to pay for gas to get there. Nice and cheap..too bad we can't get to Disney for the same costs. :rotfl2:
So glad to see whgrn is in Scotland. Hope she has a great time.
D&DDisney Glad you enjoyed your trip.
mariezp Loved the poem. :rotfl:
MagiKitty Hope that all that studying helps. :thumbsup2

Good afternoon!

Just wanted to stop by to say hello so,
hello2.gif

We had to do something really sad this weekend. We went to DH's Grandmother's for her probable last birthday party. She is 83 I think (I asked my MIL but now I can't remember). Grammy C is bedridden with cancer. She only really remembers the people that are around her consistantly so my DH had to remind her who he was while talking to her. I pretty much stayed out of the way so that those relatives that are closer to her could have time with her. We took the kids with us (I wasn't sure if we should) but I guess during one of Grammy C's more lucid moments she made sure that her DIL invited everyone so we followed her wishes. One moment that really got to me was when Grammy C's oldest son's wife was discussing with her the outfit that she was going to wear on her "trip". I guess they painted her nails already and have plans to do her toenails. The wife showed her the shoes that she bought so that her nails will show. She also bought a pretty necklace in a design that Grammy C expressed that she wanted. I guess the wife also purchased a dress and a few other items. :sad1:

On a brighter note we decided to go to the movies that night and see Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. DH didn't like it, DS11 thought it was fine and I thought it was OK. DS8 stayed at his GG's (Sukie) house overnight and had a good time. Got to ride the 4 wheeler with Papa!

I see that Whgrn has made it to Scotland, :woohoo:! I can't wait to hear all about how much fun "we" have.

D&D: Can't wait to hear about your trip.
Magikitty: You are the best Aunt ever!
marie: Men and kids! I always laugh to myself when the kids or DH is sick. They curl up into balls on the couch and don't move but when I'm sick I still have to do laundry, cook supper, etc.

lighttech, M&N, racetrack, DL55!

Just popping in to let y'all know that the flat TKers had their picture taken today with a kilt-wearing bagpiper!!

Off to find some dinner...

Just had an idea!

How about a TKer meet in NYC next year? Or, atleast near it. I remember Magikitty mentioning a hotel to stay at but it wasn't in NYC. Those of you that have been to NYC can show us around.

Afternoon everyone! How is the week going so far?

DL55....glad you had a good time camping. Wasn't it too hot? I saw on TV that the West is getting into some sort of heatwave.

Pikester....I'm sorry to hear about Grammy C. But I'm sure she's glad to do things on her own terms. It may be difficult at the time, but when you look back, everyone will be glad that they went and had the visit.

I have already apologized profusely for the stupidity of the company I keep (not including you guys!). It really seems that people I have in my life are rather, ahem, flighty. But I do love them and they are loyal, if not unreliable.

I have some sad news. Edward lost his job last week. He's been under contract with a hospital for 5 years and now that its time for them to work on his work visa, they let him go. He now has a month to find a new job and sponsor or he may go illegal and have to go back to the Philippines. I've been very worried about him.

I'm packed for the show, I beleive. Its only for two days, but I have to bring different outfits. What do you guys think of this? ABC is sending a car service for me, do I tip the driver? And if so, how much? I really know nothing about this, but I also don't want the trip to cost me much more than my dignity....

I'm Back!!:cool2:

Just thought I better say Hi...we got in a couple of hours ago. Looks like I've got around 15 pages to catch up on...looking forward to hearing all about Hershey.

TTYL

racetrack18kb, I am glad your DD enjoyed the friendship ditty, as well as some of the TKers around here.

Wendy, glad to hear you are having a great time with the kilt wearing guys. I'll bet the one who agreed to take a photo with us Flatsies looked at you pretty funny at first. Can't wait to see the picture. I hope you are having a blast!

Welcome back DL55! I don't have to leave home to appreciate my electricity and modern conveniences. We did the camping thing for over 10 years. I remember well the torture of camping. Okay, maybe I exaggerate a little but it is safe to say that DH got much more enjoyment out of camping than I ever did.

Pikester, so sorry to hear about DH's Grandmother. It sounds like she is getting things in order as she would like it. At least no one will have to worry over those sort of details. It is great that the family has got the chance to spend some time with her. My heart goes out to you and your family.
Amen, on the sick kids and men. Moms must continue on even when they feel like crap! I don't know if any one else's hubby does this but no matter how sick I am HE is even worse. He has to outdo me on everything!

MagiKitty, isn't it amazing what kind of friends you end up with in life. It sounds like your crazy bunch of friends are lucky to have you help them through their chaos in life. We tend to draw the sad, poor and dejected that always need help of some kind. Still, it usually works out like you say... they are loyal through and through. I hope Edward is able to find a job.
I can't help you with the driver tip. I am sorely lacking in the etiquette department. DH always handles tips... I just do the planning. I would guess that it depends on how he turns out...good, bad, friendly... and if you think he did a good job. I just glanced around on google.... Here's a suggestion I found...
Door-to-door free shuttle - no tip
Door-to-door paid shuttle - 15 percent tip
If they help you with bags - $1-$2 per bag
Since he is providing a shuttle service but you are not paying I would think that whatever you decide would be okay since the service is being provided to you and not something you are paying for.

Welcome back BKMETV!

Hi M&N and anybody else I missed.

Okay now for my news....
I got my Disneyworld tickets in the mail today!!!!!
:cheer2::dance3::yay::cheer2::dance3::yay::cheer2::dance3::yay::cheer2::dance3::yay::cheer2::dance3:

Marie, congrats on getting the tickets! Make sure you take care of them. Now your trip feels real, doesn't it?!

Welcome back, Ev!

Just popping in to say hello to all my TK buddies.
Kitty-good luck on Millionaire, just in case I dont talk to you before you leave.

and Marie--I didn't realize we shared the same hubby, how about that? I try not to complain to much but if I do compain especially about a pregnancy symptom-he always has something wrong to.

phew...finally caught up.

LITC - Hope your wrist is feeling better.

I got the hair color results together:
I won't embarrass the poor guessers...We had a tie, both having 3 correct guesses---BKMETV and MagiKitty! (I think this is the start of a lucky streak for our next Millionaire).

It's the lucky Dec 9th girls!!

Test was hard. I'll know Thursday how I did.
Got the official score back from my first test last night.
:yay::yay:100%:yay::yay:
I was very pleased.

Congratulations SMARTY PANTS!!

I CAN'T BELIEVE IT!!!!! I just figured out FINALLY how to change my avatar!!!!!:cool1:

Do you all like it?

This like opens up a whole new world to me! I might even be able to post pictures someday.

First thing I noticed...looks great

DH and DS11 are watching the original Friday the 13th. :scared1: They are watching it on the Spike channel and although it's kind of tense the channel is not showing any of the gore. It's making it really weird to watch. Lots of hahahaha and chachachacha but no blood. Oh and I didn't realize that Kevin Bacon was in it!

In Harry Potter when the hand came up out of the water, all the parents commented that it was like Friday the 13th...of course the kids had no idea what we were talking about.

Happy Early Birthday Marie.

So MK tapes on Thursday right?? So I have to dig up something lime green.

Better get going and unpack...I'll stop by tomorrow.

Yeah Tickets!!!! :yay: It just makes it seem more real! Just keep watching that ticker!

They always say that men make the worse patients. I guess it's not in their genes to be sympathetic. ;)

I would think that Regis would be paying for the tip??? It should not be a cost to you??? You are going there for them and it's supposed to be all expenses paid? You don't know the cost so how could you give a percent? I guess I'm just full of help tonight! :rotfl:
